YaddleTwo
I did the change compatibility mode to XP SP 3 and performed a bitraider repair i.e.(Click on the bitraider folder and press Delete). The bitrader repair DID NOT fix the quick play issue. The change compatibilty to XP SP 3 did allow me to play all my characters. While playing the game in XP SP 3 "mode" My toolbar (on my win10 desktop) also flickers, like crazy. I don't think it's bad for my computer but, I'm positive that it's not good for it either. Anyone else notice the toolbar flicker issue after changing to XP SP3? And does anyone else "feel" that this is some effort by BW to nudge us toward using STEAM? Yep this is my line of thinking, logically it just can't be good over all. Also since i replaced my motherboard just a couple of months back I am really skittish and am not wanting to make any repairs for a while especially for a wonky work around
Tapaw
This is what worked for me Running Windows 10 Pro 1) Perform a bitraider repair: Deleted the bitraider folder from 64-bit Windows 10 folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars - The Old Republic\ 2) Backed up Character UI settings and Keyboard Bind settings from the Settings folder: C:\Users\"Your Windows Profile Name"\AppData\Local\SWTOR\swtor I just copied this to the desktop as later you will move the folder back to the above location. **** I did not launch the game and let it patch at this time **** 3) Went to http://www.swtor.com and logged into my account. From under My Account, then the Modify Account page there is a section right at the top: Ready To Play with a [Download Now] button. Downloaded the installer again and let it run and patch the game. Depending on your computer system and Internet connection this might take sometime. Just let it run. 4) Once the install and patching was complete, copy back over from the desktop the Settings folder with all your character UI settings and your Keyboard Bind settings that you copied to your desktop in step 2: Copy back to: C:\Users\"Your Windows Profile Name"\AppData\Local\SWTOR\swtor 5) Launch the game This may or may not work for you, but I hope it is helpful for some of you and again this is what worked for me. EladDNDIY
None of this has worked for me, I have spent the biggest part of my day trying to log in. Good luck with fixing this bug. May the Force be with you. The xp thingy works, but you must press APPLY! , In my case i had to apply to all users.
timthegem
I downloaded the new patch last night and had no problems logging into the game after it was done. I shut off my computer for the night and rebooted today, and now I am getting this error on all of my characters. My computer did not download any patches today from what I can see and I did not change any settings. If there was an error in the patch download, why would I have been able to play last night? Hopefully this gets fixed in tomorrow's patch because I had planned on playing a lot during upcoming vacation. Not a good thing when it's close to subscription renewal time. JeramieCrowe
Hi folks, As mentioned above, our team is currently looking into it. In the meantime, here are a few potential workarounds which helped other players resolve the issue. Launch the game as an admin: Right Click > Run as administratorPerform a bitraider repair: Open your SW:TOR game folder.32-bit Windows - C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars - The Old Republic\64-bit Windows - C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars - The Old Republic\ [*]Click on the bitraider folder and press Delete. [*]Start the launcher again and log in. [*]Wait for the launcher to repair itself and update your game. [*]Use the repair tool: SW:TOR launcher troubleshooting guide [*]Change the compatibility mode: Desktop Icon > Properties > Compatibility > Run in Compatibility mode: Change from Windows 10 to XP SP 3 Please keep giving us your feedback. Thank you for your patience while we get this issue resolved. Shouldn't you perhaps list the compatibility mode workaround first as it's the least impactful workaround? Starhawkmage
I found that the compatibility change corrected the issue. It's also probably the quickest option to take advantage of.
CorwynCorey
Or perhaps remove bitraider permanently as I did a year ago and have never had an update issue since. Bitraider has never worked well, and has OFTEN locked people out of the game. Here is how: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=7826333
jimmorrisson
Windows 10 20H2 and subsequent November and December 2020 updates are responsible for all of these issues. I ended up using OwenBrooks disable Bitraider instructions which results with a full game re-download. The game re-download for me took literally 24 hours after which the game not only launched fine but the launcher loaded more quickly. Ironically the aforementioned Windows 10 updates install more bloatware: Settings App now has email login and "Rewards" just for searching your own computer! Ironic in the sense that SWTOR has added it's own login "Rewards" in the form of the "social bar" which actually should be named "advertising bar". Muttster
Hi, Before I get started, really do appreciate all the hard work you folks have done over the years, Thankyou. From a Subscribers (from day 1, proudly keep that 'Founder' tag up) point of view, What The Heck, seriously?? Why, oh why did you release this, when there were inherent problems with the update? Currently having to log onto all my chr's for the guild, to hit invasion's, craft & content for my chosen few that do content atm, every single day (that's 41 on Darth Malgus, 20 of which are Guilded). Then the Quick Play issues struck. So our Republic Guild got the invasion rewrads etc, but Imperial? Nah. We were roughly 200k short. Tried logging y/day afternoon to get the Conquest points we needed, which really wouldn't have taken that long to do, for 5 hours.... Did all of the deletes in the folders, couldn't do the fix on the launcher as it wouldn't download (tried 3 different browsers), but kept plugging away regardless. Gave up in the end and tried again today, nope same result. This has been happening every single time I logged since the patch last week. Eventually tried creating a chr, quit the game, re-booted my comp, logged back in, which usually worked, deleted the new chr and carried on my merry way. Y/day though was a complete loss in hours, roughly 7 hours of playtime, which as it turned out was 30 hours this week lost, hacked off..... I really wouldn't mind so much, but it's been a bad year for everyone, & this game has helped keep me sane as I live on my own. I know you folks are trying you're hardest. Every patch though, 2 days later (heckuva lot longer this week), off-line we go again for hot-fixes. It's becoming infuriating, seriously. Subscribers are losing playtime here because of it, which means we are getting less for our fee every month, that's a lot of lost in-game time from day 1. Kk, rant over. Again, do appreciate the hard work you put in, but if I'm not the only one this has affected, then there are going to be a lot of unhappy Subscribers out there..!! Regards, Mutt. KrimperYuuKie
The 12/15/20 6.1a patch, Still did not fix the Quick Play issue that I am having. "The bitrader repair DID NOT fix the quick play issue. The change compatibility to XP SP 3 did allow me to play all my characters. While playing the game in XP SP 3 "mode" My toolbar (on my win10 desktop) also flickers, like crazy. I don't think it's bad for my computer but, I'm positive that it's not good for it either." It's one thing to upload new content that slipped through the test server and is still buggy. It is reasonable to upload new content that makes current content buggy or requires subscribers to temporarily change settings for the short term fix in order to play the game. But, to completely ignore issues that require players to "jury rig" their computers, after you created the problem, is just plain lazy bioware. Smallcorners
This is the start of week two that I cannot get into a game that I am paying for. I do NOT want to use Steam. I should NOT have to muck about in game files (not that it worked anyway).
Linnet
I'm trying the fix listed earlier; but it's taking a really, really long time to download everything it needs to download. Having this bug keep cropping up is beyond annoying, especially for a game that's been around for years and that we pay to play.
MadDutchman
This is the start of week two that I cannot get into a game that I am paying for. I do NOT want to use Steam. I should NOT have to muck about in game files (not that it worked anyway). You don't need to use steam, that's just the simplest way. To do in place disable of Bitraider https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/BitRaider/td-p/4845375 You only need to do this once, it will 100% fix the quick play issue (quick play doesn't even exist in the non-streaming launcher). Everyone, please stop trying hacky workarounds and temporary hacks and just blow away bitraider. Yah, it's a redownload but it will save you much pain in the long run. BW: For pete's sake, add these instructions to a sticky or something and stop trying to polish the bitraider turd.
jgsensor
Deleting bitraider folder is only a temporary solution. Eventually it stops working. Here's the solution I used about a week ago (since I had this problem already before this update and send many bug reports about it) that has worked for me: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=9886924 Thanks, this seems to have fixed the problem. Seems like an easy fix, just too bad the EA professionals haven't figured this out yet.
ErifiVoabi
How is this still going on. It's been over a week now. I don't get how we didn't have a hotfix patch by Thursday but you got all the new CC store items working didn't you. I'm not going in and deleting anything or going into a config file to change a line of code, fix the game that we all pay for. This just like what happened when Starfighter came out with people with ATI cards with the blue screen that wouldn't load. FIX YOUR GAME.

ceryxp
Hi folks, For those who are still encountering the Quick Play issue, we have an additional workaround to fix this issue. It was added in the main post of this conversation: Quick Play issue workarounds. Respectfully, the suggestion to uninstall and reinstall the game is unnecessary as there are already steps to switch off BitRaider, and doing so preserves all game and UI settings. BitRaider is the problem and deactivating it is the only real solution. https://answers.ea.com/t5/Troubleshooting-Guides-Info/Guide-How-to-Switch-to-Non-Streaming-Launcher/m-p/4867417#M27
PhuriousRhayge
None of this has worked for me, I have spent the biggest part of my day trying to log in. Good luck with fixing this bug. May the Force be with you. Same here. I don't really feel like tying up my PC waiting for the entire game to reinstall, so I'll just wait for a fix. Since it's already been 6 days, not sure how long it's gonna take 'em to actually fix the issue.

RebelJedaii
I have to point out uninstall and reinstall is a very big thing if you have a slow internet connection. I had DSL when I first installed and it took DAYS. Not everyone has high speed. In fact, a livestream play I was to be part of got cancelled because the reinstall took so long for one member. No, that really is not a practical solution for all.

ProteoAlexander
I've lost many hours of gameplay since the patch 6.2 drama started and it's a very unpleasant situation.
