Inderdiction Drone vs Railgun drone.

I'm just returning to the game and getting back into GSF. I've been looking over a few builds, guides, ect. to refresh my memory and see what has changed. The one thing that I can't find a clear answer on is which drone is better. Are they all equally about the same (minus missiles I assume) or is there a clear better option?

I think it depends on whether you solo queue or have a group. If you solo queue I prefer railgun drone, since you don't need any help to do more damage. If you are in a group, interdiction might be better, your group can cooperate with you and take advantage of the debuffs on the enemy.

Interdiction can be excellent near enclosed satellites like C lost shipyards, not quite as good at B in Kuat Mesas.

In TDM Interdiction is generally pretty weak unless the other team doesn't know what they're doing. There are edge cases where it's hidden/defended well enough as part of a gunship nest, but really these days with strikes being more common than battlescouts it almost requires misplay to get close enough to an interdiction drone in TDM.

Railgun drone isn't as solid for defending a satellite, though with smart placement if the bomber covers it with HLCs (fly as wingman for your drone and shoot fighters off its tail), it can deny one hemisphere of a satellite to some extent.

In TDM it has enough range that it can be usefully employed in just about any match.

I guess the TLDR version is that Interdiciton does satellite defense better if used correctly, but it doesn't do much else.

Railgun drone is a distant second best at that job, but never really suffers from clearly being a wrong choice as a component.

Interdiction is a specialist vs Railgun being a generalist choice.
