Shattai
How many GB do I need to run SWTOR well on a laptop in 2020? Which laptop would you recommend? As cheap as you can get $$ wise. Thanks
FlameYOL
I mean I think SWTOR itself is around 40 to 45 gigabytes, with around 70 or more gigabytes if you download the public test server.
SteveTheCynic
How many GB do I need to run SWTOR well on a laptop in 2020? How many GB of what, exactly? Candidates: * System memory? 8GB minimum, with a small advantage if you have 16GB. Beyond that, no gain. * Graphics memory? 1GB dedicated is the minimum required. 2GB might give better results, might not. Above all, avoid "shared" memory setups. * Disk space? It requires (it's an all or nothing, though, rather than a "run well" thing) around 40GB, as noted above. Which laptop would you recommend? As cheap as you can get $$ wise. Almost any model of Asus ROG. That's what I would recommend. Asus ROG are not cheap, but the goal "as cheap as you can get" is in direct conflict with "run SWTOR well", especially with laptops. MadDutchman
You're probably better off buying a cheap laptop for portability and mid range desktop for gaming rather than trying to buy "gaming" laptop (which I always think is an oxymoron...)

Along with the various GBs you also need to be concerned about GHz. SWTOR works best with higher clock speeds. For average PvE you want around 3 GHz. If you want to run OPs or PvP "well", you'll want 4+ GHz. A cheap laptop that runs around 2.5 GHz or so will not run "well" (in SWTOR - engine limits). SteveTheCynic
Has the size updated in recent years? The disk space required progressively increases as content is added. This is the same for all MMORPGs. I think it's in the mid-forties of GB now.
