How many items are in a hypercrate?

I've seen screenshots of people opening hypercrates and some show 4 items while other show 5. What determines how many items one can get? It is really weird that this not explained anywhere. I do not believe it is related to being subbed or not.

Hypercrates contain 30 Ultimate Cartel Packs. Each pack gives 4 items: 3 random Cartel Market items and 1 Companion Gift, Dye Module, stack of Jawa Scrap, or Cartel Market Certificate (not sure if this last one is still true). In addition, if you haven't maxed your Underworld Exchange reputation, you get 1 reputation token for Underworld Exchange (can be green, blue, or purple). Once its maxed, you only get 4 items. This is why in videos you sometimes see 4 items and other times see 5 items. It depends on their Underworld Exchange rep. Edited by ThanderSnB

"Hypercrates" are the bundles of 30 crates. I think you are just referring to single crates.

Recent crates have 4 items per box, but over the years there's been crates with 5 or 6 items. You probably saw old screenshots or screenshots of people opening old crates. (Some of the old crates are still available on the GTN for ridiculous prices.)

You have a point?! 🤔

I do. As you aptly pointed out, gambling is for the benefit of the casino. It's a zero-sum arrangement, requiring us, on balance, to be losers.

When I see EA's anti-consumer practices come up, I'm going to point it out.

As a community, we should stop supporting those practices.
