I purchased a few packs from the Cartel Market and used the items I wanted. The items I didn't want I threw on the GTN. To my delight I sold a bunch of it last night. I made between 2.5 to 3 billion credits. I did an open all function and a message popped up saying something along the lines of "mail error." Only 1.175 billion and some change went into my inventory. The rest just vanished into thin air. I opened a ticket but I know it takes days to get a reply so my question is is this a known bug? Should I not use the open all function in the future?

It's a known bug that's more common now because of credit inflation. It used to be rare to get that many credits in one day, but because of inflation it's pretty easy to hit the cap. Just for reference, the most expensive items sold for 20 million in 2012, now they sell for 1 billion. The extra credits above the cap (4 billion) just vanish. The current wallet cap is *four* billion (specifically, approximately 4,294,967,295), not two billion, but yes, that's almost certainly part of the problem.
