I've noticed, quite often, that I am hitting with this ability. Putting up the "Deathmark" debuff but my dots aren't spreading to targets. Not sure what the deal is.

its been in the game for a while now don't think bw intends on fixing it

I see it from adding dot spread in game. It's bug or feature? And one more bug or feature: when you spreading on target, which have your dots not update duration and you must delay Death Field for spreading. Duration of dots 18 seconds, CD of Death Field - 15 seconds. Have any other dot spec same problem, like Virulence?

sometimes it works perfectly somtimes it does not if you rack up the playtime on it you will notice it XD

Are you sure you're just not using death brand (the purple deathfield icon)? that one doesnt spread dots, its a single target ability.

Maybe off topic, but isn't Death Field supposed to have a debuff icon on the targets?

So deathfields will apply the death mark stacks to a affected target but that is not the issue,

under certain circumstances the dot spreading effect of the ability does not work properly sometimes only spreading a few or none at all or sometimes all,

 

there is no real logic behind it that i can find only that it is more likely to happen on area's with a height difference
