Top 3's

Why are top 3 rewards not separated by server? I was looking at the top 50 spots in group ranked, and the top spots are extremely heavily skewed towards the larger servers. Darth Malgus has 21 spots. Star Forge has 15 spots. Tulak Hord has 10 spots. Leviathan has 2 spots. Satele Shan has 2 spots.

Clearly, there are population issues with Leviathan and Satele Shan that prevent them from having as many people que up. So why aren't the top 3 rewards separated by server?

delete tulak hord as a server

Which would also mean merging Satele into Star Forge. Which would piss off a lot of solo pve players. So I can’t see that happening.

Also, aren’t BioWare under some sort of contract to provide the language servers. Otherwise, why wouldn’t they have just made DM the sole EU server last time and have language instances or channels on DM.

What BioWare could do is offer free server transfers once a week per character and only have ranked pvp activated on DM and SF. Then people could move backwards and forwards. Nearly “better than cross server™️😉

Interesting idea, but there are a few problems. It would force all ranked pvpers to migrate to 2 servers. They might not want to do so if they're also participating in pve or rp activities on their home servers. Just as an example, there's a good amount of pvpers that are also involved in nim raiding. They'd probably be upset if they had to swap servers and leave their raiding groups behind just to have access to ranked. Lastly, the rpm and yellow augment market would need to be redesigned too since there would no longer be access to rpms from ranked for any server thats not DM or SF.

It'd be more convenient to just have a different set of top 3's for each server. Then to prevent people from trying to get an easy top 3 on a server that might have less skilled players due to lower population, don't allow new server transfers to que ranked for a month after the transfer.

Yes it might be inconvenient, but most ranked players or raiders will have multiple sets of gear that are BiS for both. So they could easily create a few mirror Alts to transfer over.

Of course we would want BioWare to give fair warning, like a couple months and a month of the double XP event so people could power lvl up some alts.

And with the one free transfer per character each week, if they made a mistake, they can always transfer back the next week. BioWare could also add a cheap paid transfer (50cc) option as well to compliment the free transfers. They would probably need to limit it to once per week too. Then people could have a total of 2 transfers per week for each Alt.

Obviously this wouldn’t happen this season. So BioWare would have time to redesign ways of acquiring RPM/OEM’s more than just ranked and ops. They could change the amount of tech frags needed for RPM conversion and reduce the number need to craft. They could also add them to the weekly raid mission and weekly reg pvp mission.

It's a very good question, and it's not the only issue with top 3s. Another is healers/dps and tank/dps competing for the same top 3s, even though it makes no sense for them to be in direct competition with each other. I don't think it was ever thought through very well from its inception.

Does that really surprise you? Biowares lack of two way community consultation during the whole process back then and even up to now, is why things in pvp and the consequences aren’t as good as they should be.
