I can't contribute!

I've played both PVP and Starfighter runs and no matter what I always end as a worthless carry. :mon_frown:

I am so sick of it. I used to be good years ago when I played. Now I can barely DMG or anything in PVP nowadays. :w_mad:

What am I missing? Why am I so bad? Is there any guides to show me how to be a real asset in PVP? I am tired of PVP being a chore because my Galactic Seasons requires me to do it. :jawa_confused:

there are plenty of guides; I would read one for your class and get up to speed on the rotations and other things that you need to know. http://www.vulkk.com is one; but there are others.

my question would be what is your gear like? the maximum item rating is 306. the further away from that the more it matters. are you in gear around 260? 240? 200? even worse? if you are say 240 or less on Item rating, then you are 1) way squishy and 2) targeted

some classes dont really start to shine until you get your gear, specifically the tactical and the set bonus gear. you do not need top of the line gear to be useful or to do decent damage; but you might need the tactical and 6 piece set bonus. I would focus on getting those while also getting your over all gear up. those in gear item rating 270+ will still have challenges, but in a group should be able to do enough to not be feeling useless.

My gear is around the 140s because I am still leveling to 75. I got a few pieces in the bank to go when I get high enough to wield them.

I once played BH PT. Was a lot of fun. But that was 6 years ago. Now I am playing RT AS and getting almost 1 shotted in every fight.

I was never around for the opening of Starfighter. So that's completely new to me. I always end up at best playing rabbit and zig-zagging around dodging locks. At worst I just pop in to blow up to give the opposing team a point.

I appreciate you posting. As a returning player I hope to make a good team contribution and not a carry to ruin everyone's fun.

So you aren’t lvl 75 yet and playing lowbie/mid pvp?

If that’s the case, then gear doesn’t really matter that match because bolster gives everybody similar stats regardless of what gear you have on.

The one thing to remember with gearing pre lvl 75 is to make sure all your slots are filled (including weapon and off hand crystals). If you don’t have every slot equiped, then bolster doesn’t work properly. The only item you really need to make sure you keep upgraded is your main hand weapon as bolster doesn’t take main hand into account.

It might help if we new what class specs you are trying to play in pvp. What is an RT AS?

you never did tell us your level. one of the challenges you could be experiencing is the level gap between you and other players. Bolster takes care the gear issue; but a level 50 going against 74s is going to have a tough time due to the 74s having more of their overall skill set and utilities.

Republic Trooper Assault Specialist.

Oh, ok, we usually refer to troopers as commandos or vanguards and then spec.

So your playing a commando AS which is the lowest performing spec in pvp for commandos. If you are new to swtor and the commando class, I’d suggest trying Gunnery in pvp until you master the classes DCDs and tactics.
