This is a very difficult question to answer since we as a species have produced so much art in so many forms over the centuries...

Based on fame and notority:

1. Da Vinci's Mona Lisa

2. Van Gogh's Starry Night

3. Michelangelo's Venus Di Milo

4. Da Vinci's Last Supper.

Based on my own opinion of understanding humans:

1. Bartholdi and Eiffel's 'Liberty Enlightening The World' (commonly called 'Lady Liberty' or the 'Statue of Liberty')

2. Leutze's 'Washington Crossing The Delaware'

3. Iilya Repin's 'Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks'

4. Charles le Brun's 'Horatius At The Bridge'

That is, of course, assuming that the Grand Admiral sticks to sculptures/statues and paintings, not choosing any form of written or spoken word.
