  • Dev Post

As noted in the general PTS thread, Galactic Seasons 2 is now active on PTS.

  • Please provide any general feedback you may have about this season.
  • Thoughts on balance and cadence of Objectives given and rewards earned are also helpful
  • What are your thoughts about the changes made from Season 1 to Season 2?
  • Are you experiencing any system breaking or progress stopping bugs or issues?

Note that all feedback will be used to continue to refine future Seasons!

EDIT: As a reminder, Cartel Coin rewards will be on the tracks when Galactic Seasons 2 goes live. They will never be present in a PTS setting.

Thank you!

Maybe I am just doing it wrong, but when I click on the daily or weekly objectives it just takes me to my mission screen. I am unsure if it's a bug or if my being level 18 is locking me out. EDIT-- I am a fool, feedback to follow.

You're not a fool! If you'd seen gen chat just now you'd be in good company!

There is a new "menu" for the Galactic Seasons Objectives and it takes subtle to a new level. It just took several of us in General Chat to work out how to find it. It doesn't even look like a clickable menu item. Might be an idea to change this because it's all but invisible (unless there's going to be new achievement called "work out how stuff works & where stuff is in 7.0" :D ).

Picture in case others can't find it:

Holy crap! You are not kidding! I found it on my own before I saw this but even after I knew where it was i would still lose track of it when i came back to the screen.

The Underworld Syndicate Plans thing is ridiculously overcomplicated. Just have the reputation items themselves drop rather than make us have to exchange them with an NPC that we can't even see on the map!

Agreed, it was also not clear that the weekley goal for turning in the underworld plans to the npc was to gain 1500 rep points not for turning in 1500 plans.

At first I thought it was going to be impossible since you cap out on 200 plans per week

Bonus objectives don't seem to return. Today I was running friends of old, and I didn't get the bonus objective to kill 20 mercenaries.

EDIT 1: Also, I would appreciate if the flashpoints objective is edited to say whether only veteran qualifies or if you can do story mode.

Obviously, the interface needs work. Clicking on "0/1 daily complete" or "0/7 weekly complete" should take us straight to the CONQUEST OBJECTIVES tab in the Conquest window. It doesn't. And you need to make the facts that there are now two tabs much more obvious (would never have figured it out without the post above).

Also, it's not really clear at all what's a daily and what is a weekly (assuming the "repeatable" sign says it's a daily, and the rest are weeklies... But we really shouldn't have to assume.

The objectives...

The daily one is fine.

The weeklies...it's not awful. My main worry is the boss one, I hope the respawn timer will be fast or it's going to get frustrating very fast.

I do like that two of those will basically be done (hopefully) by running CQ (I'm still very confused about the syndicate rep and how it works but I suppose we'll figure it out, but you're going to have to explain it somewhere because it really should be more obvious). Although we'll have to see how much rep we get from those syndicate items too... I'm going to ASSUME (again) that doing 6 weeklies and 1 dailies will be enough for the 1500 rep requirement, if not... you might want to do something about that).

The rewards

Mounts are cool... Don't like the armor/weapons. Oh well.

So far from what I've seen, I can handle doing some of the weeklies I got:

Ace of Armada (6 space missions)

Capitals of Dichotomy (do missions AND kills on the Capital planets)

March across Galaxy (200k Conquest points)

Legacies of the force (flashpoints...did Black Talon)

BUT..

Infiltrating Competiion (60 Underworld Syndicate plans)...is going to be done only if I play hard everyday. In 3 hours, I got 8.

Clashing in the stars..6 Starfighter..I'm not going to do

Capital punishment...having to defeat both on DK and Coruscant...perhaps

Asylum..only if someone has done that chapter, and I'm on a new character.

So, I'm at level 2.

Also..what is the point of getting the plans, gaining rep. Is there a vendor to buy cool stuff with certain levels?

Yes what's the rep for anyway?

Add in my other weeekly.

Mutual Beneficiary. 1500 increase reputation with the Syndicate.

1 plan turn in got me 37 points. I will have to turn in 41...to get 7 back?? And 6 season points. Right now I have 19, but thats because I got 10 from the Galactic seasons. I'm not going to be able to get more this week from that method, so the rest is to grind out?

Doing the math it is better to grind up and save to turn in 100 to get the highest rewards. I'm not sure that is going to be even possible. I got 8 yesterday, and 1 so far going around. In a week you'd need to average 15 a day to get 100 to turn in, because for rep its better than way.

Most of the armor/weapon/vehicle rewards are Syndicate driven...so...again...whats the point of the rep? Is there more, like a story like the Racing reps, which would lead to a vendor?

Compared with the first season, the new way is really confusing. I'm afraid all of our concerns about the changes are valid. It's not clear from the Objectives menu, however it looks like there will be one daily per day and the rest of the objectives are weeklies. I could not find anything that tells me what my progress is in relation to how many points I'd accrued or how many objectives I needed to complete for the week or had already completed in total (if anyone else finds it or found it, please post and include a picture).

Are the weekly GS objectives per legacy? That's what I'm thinking based on several of the objectives being inaccessible to characters below level 50 (having chapters or other high level FP objectives for level 40-50s is a bit ridiculous).

I can't say I like this. We asked for changes and many suggestions were made however, the new system seems to be unnecessarily complicated. It also looks like it's going to take much longer to complete the GS system. I completed 4 GS objectives according to the completed objectives in the list, but made no progress past the first reward and could not see (as mentioned above) how far completing any of them got me. Pretty sure I got far further than the first reward in the previous version (GS S1).

Also, this new underworld rep system? I'm confused. What's the point of getting rep? Is there going to be a vendor? Why so many clicks just to leave the conversation screen? I think you need to make talking to the Togruta rep person on Nar Shadaa (I forget her name) as is as it is to talk to the Alliance Specialists when giving them goods.

Yeah that's really not ok. Something needs to change. Either reduce the minimum or give more items...

I have no idea what the reputation track is for, but I actually think this is an improvement in terms of point gain and not driving me up the wall when I get seat of the empire heroics. It seems decently well-paced, apart from the 200k conquest, which I feel should be adjusted to either 150k or 175k.

re: removal of light & dark system.

Currently I run a dark side jedi for cosmetic purposes.

And thanks to the dark-side selection button and constant gain of dark side points through all activities during the story I can still pick light side actions, but maintain full Dark V for the complete sith look.

With the proposed removal of the back-ground alignment points this game play will no longer be possible.

Please consider leaving in the light & dark selector with back-ground point allocation.

  • Please provide any general feedback you may have about this season.

I like that the objectives now live inside their own tab, but said tab is VERY hard to locate (I got into it by accident by clicking a completed objective before even noticing the tabs exist)

Like a lot of stuff in the new UI, it is a bit or a UX fail, especially when just slapped inside the old UI (the new Galactic Seasons / Galaxy Map button also look way out of place in the old UI).

Not sure if you are planning on completely overhauling the entire UI to this new "flat" style, but mixing it like this is just messy.

Not sure why the Syndicate plans received as rewards from objectives have to come through mail, can't they just be added to our running total? Unless I am missing something, of course

  • Thoughts on balance and cadence of Objectives given and rewards earned are also helpful

Seems balanced so far, though this remains to be seen across multiple weeks

  • What are your thoughts about the changes made from Season 1 to Season 2?

As mentioned, I like that the objectives now have their own section

I like the wider variety of objectives to pick from

  • Are you experiencing any system breaking or progress stopping bugs or issues?

Nothing game/system-breaking so far

However, there is a bug with the achievements related to levels. Despite only unlocking level 2 reward, I got an achievement for level 75. Not really a huge problem, I expect everyone will get to 100 eventually with plenty of time to spare, just like in S1, but still...

Came here looking for exactly this. Nice. 100% those "tabs" need to have borders and highlights to indicate that they're buttons. Thanks!

Currently:

I really like the idea of having the Shadow Syndicate reputation as connected to the galactic season. It gives it more focus and gives another incentive to do it, while providing a long-term reason to keep repeating it and gaining reputation with something (while most players by now would have reputation with almost every other faction).

What I LOVE is the story connection to the Imperial planetary story on Nar Shaddaa. THIS is what SWTOR should look like! The only pity that the dialogue isn't fully voiced but, well, given how small a thing it is, not such a big deal.

Sidenote, even though this is more about login rewards than about Seasons per se, let me also say that I also like the idea of giving rakghoul canisters, gree stuff etc. as part of the weekly login rewards. THAT is certainly a worthy reward.

What however could be made better would be to somehow mark the location of the Shadow Syndicate representative on the map of Nar Shaddaa (or an option to mark it), or offer somewhere visibly the option to quick travel to her. I found her rather quickly, but still it might be helpful for someone who isn't as lucky.

On a similar note, I haven't been able to find where do the Shadow Syndicate reputation items go in my inventory. It would be nice if we could somehow check how many of them we have, just for clarity's sake.

THE OBJECTIVES:

Otherwise, as for the objectives. I am primarily a person who plays only PvE, and only with one or two friends or solo, so I have no use for majority of the objectives. However, I appreciate the existence of all the others.

March Across The Galaxy = Great idea, an absolute necessity for altaholics like me AND for those who only play solo or in small groups.

Same goes for Influencing the Galaxy.

Ace of the Armada = Also a great idea, 6 space missions weekly would be just the right count.

Similarly great is the objective that has you kill 100 enemies and complete 10 missions on a planet. Certainly better than something that is daily and resets. Actually this way it is amazing.

Sidenote: it would be however nice to mark somehow in more striking manner which objectives are daily and which ones are weekly (say, colour difference, or some different icon maybe?). Something that makes it clear for a person who sees it the first time on first sight. I spent my first day worrying which stuff is going to reset before I manage to complete it.

And last but not least - even though I presume others have remarked on this already a lot - I hope that the current UI will change so that the button to switch between conquest and galactic seasons objectives will look like a button. I would have had no idea where to look for it had others not showed screenshots on this forum.

I want to echo this sentiment as well. Conquest Objectives and Season Objectives need to look like actual tabs and stand out more.

I'm unable to complete "Asylum" (1 of my weekly), as I tried to solo the Veteran version after I hit 80 and got the new armor, and got wiped by Heskar in a few hits. Part of the problem is lack of mobility as a Merc Healer now (you have to stand in place for most of it), part of it is the lowering of stats overall since I couldn't put in augments. I have ben able to do it on live though.

Capital punishment I'm sure will happen on live, as there will be groups.

Clashing with the starts, Galactic starfighter, will probably be doable on live.

Supplying the war effort, I dont craft conquest stuff, so I wont be able to do that.

HOWEVER, I'm making sort of a complaint about Underworld Syndicate plans.

I gathered 100 turn them in for the maximum rewards and rep, and it got me to Newcomer. Its not the rep issue, its the gaining of the plans.

The best way is really by just playing the game, but to get achievements, and get them. On top of the weeklies of course. However when this goes live, most people have many achievements done, so they will not get the same opportunity to get them as a brand new account would.

THEN...why would I make so much of an effort to gain rep for this faction, when it seems there is only a couple new titles? The Galactic seasons rewards give quite a few items I would consider to be for this faction. So, if there are no new items to purchase with levels of rep, they why would I really put forth a huge effort to save 100 of them at a time to turn in, to even get the rep.

Finally, the rewards for Galactic Season on the Ki'at Thavo vendor..since I'm a subscriber, .are all pretty much available to me through the season (the SoroSuub ST-13, Shadow Initiate Armor set,)...is pretty lackluster with some of the companion customizations etc. so I'll pretty much never need to come to the vendor. All I need it 1 more token to buy the other penthouse I need...and I can save the next 14 tokens for Galactic season 3.

I think there needs to the "HOOK" to have people spend their tokens, or want to earn them to buy something. The first season was all about the penthouse apt. There is nothing 'yet" that I would want to get.

(PS. Can we get the Czerka CZX-4 blaster pistol put up on the Cartel market please?)
