"Complete" ships- ship req numbers!

Mastering A Component: Having all possible upgrade levels of one of the options listed under one of your "component" lists. Ex: Your Starguard has tiers one through five purchased on Heavy Laser Cannon.

Mastered Ship: A ship with at least one of every Major and Minor component mastered on the the "component" list. This can require more than one of the same type if the ship has that. Mastered ships earn 10% more req. Mastering a non-cartel ship gives you an achievement! This creates a gold icon on the ship.

"Counts as mastered": Cartel ships count as mastered for earning ship req, even before they are actually mastered. This creates a silver icon on the ship, which stays there even after you master it for real.

Complete: You have every upgrade possible for every component possible. It is impossible to spend ship requisition on this ship any more.

While mastering a ship is a roughly consistent 150,000 ship requisition, completing a ship is HIGHLY variable, as ships with more choices simply cost more.

Every ship has "Big Major Components", each of which costs 35,500 to learn and master. Each ship has "Small Major Components", each of which costs 15,000 to learn and master. Those numbers are variable. Then each ship has four "Minor Components", each one of which costs 6000 to learn and master.

However, each ship starts with one of each component. This subtracts the learning cost- but only once. Big Major Components costs 2000 to learn, and you begin with three. Small Major Components cost 1500 to learn, and you begin with two. Minor components cost 1000 to learn and you begin with four. So once you calculate how much the ship costs, you can subtract 13,000 from it.

Every ship has the same number of minors available (four) with three possibilities each. This represents 60,000 req.

Here's a list of all ships. In each case, I list the number of (big major components,small major components). The formula is:

(#Big Major Component * 35.5k) + (#Small Major Component * 15k) + 47k

Type 1 Strike Fighter (Starguard/Enforcer || Rycer/Gladiator): (4+3,3+4) = (7,7)

400,500

Type 2 Strike Fighter (Pike || Quell): (3+5,3+4) = (8,7)

436,000

Type 3 Strike Fighter (Clarion || Imperium): (3+4+3,3+4) = (10,7)

507,000

-----------------------------

Type 1 Scout (NovaDive || Blackbolt): (3+3+4,3+4) = (10,7)

507,000

Type 2 Scout (Flashfire/Skybolt || Sting/Ocula): (4+3+3,3+4) = (10,7)

507,000

Type 3 Scout (Spearpoint || Bloodmark): (3+3+4,3+4) = (10,7)

507,000

-----------------------------

Type 1 Gunship (Quarrel/Redeemer || Mangler/Mailoc): (2+3,3+4) = (5,7)

329,500

Type 2 Gunship (Comet Breaker/Strongarm || Dustmaker/Redeemer): (2+4,3+4) = (6,7)

365,000

Type 3 Gunship (Condor || Jurgoran): (3+4,4+4) = (7,8)

415,500

-----------------------------

Type 1 Bomber (Rampart Mark Four || Razorwire): (3+3+3,3+3) = (9,6)

456,500

Type 2 Bomber (Warcarrier/Firehauler || Legion/Onslaught): (3+3+3,3+2) = (9,5)

441,500

Type 3 Bomber (Sledgehammer || Decimus): (4+3+3,3+3) = (10,6)

492,000

Some notes!

1- Total req possible doesn't represent ship power very much. Many components are either weak (though this is improving patch by patch) or just don't fit the ship very well (this is not really changing much). Meanwhile, other components are so strong that you don't need to ever consider something else in that spot.

2- The highest totals are all three scouts and the type 3 strike at 507k, with the Type 3 bomber right behind at 492k. This is because these ships don't double dip on components: they have primary, secondary, and system, and have an average (3) or even high (4) number of choices on each of them.

3- The lowest is generally the gunships. No gunship has a system component, and while there are seven types of blasters, over a dozen types of systems, and eight types of missile/rocket/torp, there are only three railguns, and these often use up two of the slots.

4- It represents a lot of req to complete a ship! Even the cheapest is over twice as much as mastering, and many are over thrice the cost of that!

5- Most ships have exactly three shield components and exactly four engine components. Only the type 3 gunship exceeds this, with four shield components, and only the bombers fall behind, with less engine or shield components in general.

A nice thing would be that completing a ship would allow you to unlock it legacy wide... So people would have an incentive to keep spending req on a ship and not just build for the most effective build.

No, that would be bad.

Most importantly because a complete ship can become incomplete with the addition of cool new components, but ALSO because the difficulty of completing a ship varies wildly. Why should it be almost half the effort to get a legacy wide mangler than a legacy wide bloodmark?

I think it would be cool to allow some things to be ACCOUNT bound (not just legacy) for some large amount of ship req. But right now, that's just not how the devs roll.

You mean three shield four engine.

Yes plz easier server migration.

5364500 req challenge accepted!

Edit: So did the math tonight and only have 1.753.000 req to go!

Whoa, periods as delimiters? I thought that was just a Euro thing. Do you write decimals with a comma too?

Ex: Would you write five thousand, four hundred and a half as:

5.400,5

or

5,400.5

?

So, to break THAT down:

For one character on one faction:

5,364,500 = Amount to complete one of every ship type.

7,408,000 = Amount to complete every ship available on a character (this value includes cartel ships)

For both factions:

10,729,000 = Amount to complete one of every ship and faction type.

14,816,000 = Amount to complete every ship in the game over two characters (this value includes cartel ships over both factions)

Every one of these is crazy person numbers, btw :p

To make things stranger: If you just run dailies every day and never earned req besides that, 65 weeks would be enough to complete even the most expensive of ships. The ship that everyone is probably furthest behind on is the type 3 scout, as it has as much req as the other expensive ships and is generally not that amazing, and came out recently (other ships are worse, or as expensive, or came out recently, but none have this trifecta that probably makes it the least complete ship in most hangars).

So about a year after the type 3 scout came out is about when we would expect to see many players with complete hangars, assuming that they have that as a goal (rare), don't miss dailies (very rare, given it's for a year), and that queues continue to pop (probably).

...and of course, assuming no new ships come out, which seems VERY unlikely.
