Fix for the Lana Beniko Marriage Bug in 5.9.2

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share a more detailed update about the Lana marriage bug that cropped up with Update 5.9, and how we’ll be addressing it with Update 5.9.2.

When the dev team originally implemented the variable that stores whether a given player character has chosen to marry Lana or not, a bizarre quirk of the tools caused that variable to not be set permanently, even though we told the tools to do so. As I’m sure you can imagine, we found this quite frustrating, and have thus destroyed said “quirk” via ruthless orbital bombardment to ensure that this doesn’t happen again. From now on, characters that are in a romance with Lana who play through the Solo Story mode of the Nathema Conspiracy Flashpoint will have their decision of whether or not to ask Lana to marry them remembered permanently, as it always should have been.

Of course, this still remains an issue for those players whose characters are in a romance with Lana and have already completed the Solo Story mode of Nathema Conspiracy. We have implemented a solution to correct the issue for those players in Update 5.9.2. When the servers come back up with the new update, a brief new mission will appear automatically on all characters who meet the following criteria:

  • In a romance with Lana Beniko
  • Have completed the Solo Story mode of the Nathema Conspiracy
  • Are not currently on the mission “Things Left Unsaid” (ie, are not currently breaking up with Lana to begin/resume a different romance)

The new mission, “An Error in Alliance Records”, will send you to the droid H1-R1 on Odessen, who will ask you a series of questions to correct some issues in his corrupted Alliance personnel files. Please be sure to answer his question about your relationship with Lana honestly, as it’s going to be remembered permanently this time.

You may wonder if it’s possible to tell the droid that you didn’t agree to marry Lana when you actually did, or vice versa. The answer is yes, that is possible; this is your one chance to change your mind consequence-free, but be sure that’s what you really want to do – as I said, your answer will be permanently recorded.

We wholeheartedly apologize to all players impacted by this issue, and appreciate your patience as we put together our solution.

I love this, but could we also get the marriage cutscene as well?

This is indeed great news. I hope it all works the way it's supposed to.

On a related note, have you looked at the other issue with Lana's romance at all yet? The one I speak of of course is the one where patches or server restarts result in Lana's romance values being reset when you are in the middle of KOTFE, but haven't reached chapter IX yet to lock it in.

Great, now how about fixing the bug that prevented certain players from ever starting a romance with Lana? I.e. players who chose to romance her in kotfe before the patch was implemented that kept track of romances in the companions and contacts list and gave us confirmation messages before we initiated said romances

First, Charles thank you and the development team for this fix.

As others have asked, is there any update on the "first Lana romance bug" - the bug where, if you had started KotFE but had not completed Ch IX and locked in the romance before a patch hit the update would negate the romance dialogue option in Ch IX after the patch?

That happened on my BHer...But I just shrugged it off. Wondering, as now I know about it, if I contact CS will they be able to fix it?

Hello,

Is it an alert quest of the alliance? I don't see it...

4 of my characters are married to Lana and they have not romanced her.

My inquisitor who has accepted the marriage with theron ... is married with theron and also with lana.

My mercenary who has a romance with torian cadera is also married to lana

My other mercenary married theron and also lana

and my agent who has a romance with arcan is also married to lana

these 4 characters have no romance with lana and have finished nathema

It would be nice if I had this quest to eliminate Lana's marriage with these characters and keep the partners they chose because currently they are married with 2 people...

So... With my Guardian who romanced Lana since her introduction, I don't get to marry her after Nathema either. Neither I get the Mission " “An Error in Alliance Records”.

Fun fact, in my companion&contacts, the note that I romanced Lana is missing too.

No new Lana quest. I think this bug hit me too. Did every romance option available then at a certain point it just stopped and no more options. Very sad story wise. :(

Not sure whether this bug is new or if it was there right after Nathema (never paid attetion): My companions log shows my PC had proposed to Theron and Lana and both said "yes".

However my PC only proposed to Theron and never had any romantic relationship with Lana. Unfortunately the mission to update Alliance informantion is not available for said PC.

You can only choose one. If you’d already chosen Theron, the Lana mission won’t show up.
