Chest pieces with jet packs that work, and those that don't.

Thought there was a thread listing the ones that worked and which one didn't. Guess I was wrong.

Not thinking it will have any effect, just for reference sake. These are all the chest pieces I know of that come with a jet pack. Most came from mission rewards or world drops, some from cartel market and one is a legacy set from a reputation vendor..

NOTE: After a tip from Reno_Tarshil, who pointed me to this thread I found the following post:

I have discovered a fix for the Contractor's Chestguard (and other models):-

In graphics settings, you need to activate “high” under “character level of detail”.

What’s strange about this is that other models work on a low setting. The Black Market Chestguard, for example, displays the jetpack animation on a low setting. Why this works on low, but not others, is anyone’s guess. They appear to use the same animations.

CAVEAT: This 'fix' is strictly a viewer-only fix regardless of the state of the setting for the wearer. So if the Character Detail setting of the viewer is set to a non-working state (Low in most all cases), the viewer will still see hot-heel exhausts even if you see them showing correctly. Of course this also works the other way around.

For me I noticed that for some it works but not for all, and some have an incorrect placed animation. Because of this I have changed the below list to indicate with which setting it works. However, I could only verify this for the chestpieces I have myself.

Request! If you have a chestpiece with jetpack which is not listed or is working different for you, let me know with which detail setting so I can update or add to this list.

Wait, you started both threads?

OK...

Yeah, twas a naive attempt to create a sensible one just listing the ones (ed.: the one_) that do and the ones that don't.

What was I thinking.... my apologies for the lapse of sanity.

  • 2 weeks later...

:) Thanks for the updates folks. Added them to the first post.

Hunter's Exalted, TT-17A Hydra and Shae Vizla added. And since these have the same model jet pack as the others in that group, I assume all three also have the same right jet misalignment in high character detail.

Please holler if I assumed too much.

Added Tioness Combat Tech

Also added the other variants from the Columi/Rakata/Tionese sets: Combat Tech, Combat Medic, Eliminator and Supercommando. And indicated for all the same misalignment as occurs with the Mandalorian Clansman on all jets

Contractor added. And since it is similar to both the Contractor chest and the Black Market MK-1 variants, I also added the Heartless Pursuer as working in both low and high character detail to the same group.

Again, please holler if I assumed too much.

I don't have the expansion so if there's any others beside Headhunter and Yavin chests. Please check them.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT: Stumbled over the Exceptional Powered Assault chest, also similar to the Mandalorian Hunter group.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT2: With respect to that same group. for each of the three situations where you use a Jet Pack (my Powertech has 3 at least) the misalignment is different.

- When using Rocket Boost, only the bottom two jets work, both jets showing underneath the exhaust pipes.

- When using Recharge and Reload, all four jets work, but now the upper two are showing mini jets above the exhaust pipes and the bottom two are perfectly aligned.

- The worst is Death from Above, all four jets work and all four mini jets appear next to the exhaust pipes

One can only assume that the attaching of the jets to the model was done in a static position, disregarding the movement the exhausts pipes make when used.

Granted, this is nothing compared to the Headhunter chest...

Screenshots below:

The first and third armor sets seem to share the same basic model, but only the Heartless Pursuer works appropriately.

Hydra, as mentioned in this thread -- or was it another one? :p -- works, although not quite right. Didn't remember that detail, though I haven't used it in ages.

More tomorrow. Hopefully. :D

Added two new ones to the list, CZ-18X Avalanche and Guard Captain. Both from the Embargoed items vendor in cartel bazaar. And since they are similar to the same group as Shae's, these two only work in high character detail mode and have the right jet planted too far inside the jet pack.

Glad to see the information gathered by all participating is actually useful for other purposes too.

Pretty sure the underwater sets have DPVs on their back, not jetpacks.

Yeah, I wasn't too sure about them either, but seeing how the jet pack resembled one also used by other chests (see for instance Athiss Enforcer and Hunter's Renowned), I thought it better to add them. Just in case it could be explained story wise as changing to propulsion jets when actually used submerged.

And in the meantime I saw some great news :D

I hereby acknowledge all jet pack related bugs!

This has already been addressed

Couldn't resist quoting it here too :D

Priceless :D

Since I also added the Underwater sets, and being made aware of the Pilot sets, I've also added the three versions from that set for the reasons stated here. I could only test the GSF chest, but the other two are identical, and the Imperial Pilot version has already been confirmed in the post I quoted in that topic.

Imperial Pilot, Covert Pilot and Imperial Covert Pilot.

As mentioned in the other post, I've got no idea if these are to be considered actual jet packs. And since same could be said for the Underwater sets, I'm listing these here too until officially contradicted.
