So, I've been playing this game for a little while now. But one of the things I don't get is how I get a new item and sometimes I can't equip it because it "Requires Focus." So how do I gain more focus?

(Btw, I know that focus is what you use to perform special attacks.)

 

Anyway, help would be much appreciated!

If you are using a single saber or double bladed saber the part that goes in the off hand slot is either a focus or a shield

What class are you playing?

There's a type of off-hand weapon called Focus. Some force-user Disciplines can equip it in their off-hand, others cannot. The warning/error you're receiving is saying that your Discipline is one that does not use an off-hand weapon type called Focus and you're trying to equip a Focus.

 

You can Deconstruct it (if you're at level 75) or sell it to a vendor. Alternately, if it is a moddable Focus, it might have modifications you can pull out and put in your other equipment.
