"Import" companion decorations from other characters

When raising the issue with companion decorations turning to holoes in strongholds when logged in as a character who doesn't have that companion unlocked, I was told that the issue with this is we could potentially have multiple of the same class with that character customized in different ways. Here is what I would propose to solve that:

1) Make the companions simply placeable as stackable decorations in the same way anything else is. Don't have them behave like companions and turn to holoes at all. In fact, more than one of each companion should be available to place based on how many characters you have that companion on.
2) Have an "import" option where if you're placing a companion who isn't on your particular toon and/or if you have more than one of it on other toons, you can choose which character to "import" the appearance of that companion from.
3) If a character with a particular companion is deleted, then have the decoration be deleted as well from where it is placed.

In this way, companions as decorations can be synced and available to see across a player's legacy regardless of what class they're on and it would be better for visuals if friends are visiting so they don't have to just see a bunch of holoes or their own companions when they visit.

If companions were made into a regular decoration then they would only be able to have their standard appearance. Right now, if you equip an appearance customization to a companion then their placed decoration will show with that customization. They will show wearing whatever outfit they have equipped. If they were made into a regular decoration then they would always appear with their base appearance and outfit.

If they had continued with the precedent set forth with FE/ET and allowed all classes to collect all companions then it would not be much of an issue, so long as they fix Kira, Scourge, Jakarro, and the others that are bugged, or course.

I do not know if this would be possible, but it would be nice if the placed comp decorations would use their standard appearance (base appearance and outfit) if a character does not have them as a companion, but would appear with whatever is equipped for characters that do have them as a companion.

It would be nice if this applied consistently to comp decors in strongholds that your were visiting, too. Sometimes, even if you have the companion they will still show as a holo or in their skivvies.

To be fair, they could additionally make it so that some decorations can be modified in their appearance (I.e. dyes, for starters) and off of this they could apply that to companion gear

To an extent we already have that. The taxidermy decorations from Onderon can be clicked on to cycle the creature through different poses, but that resets whenever you leave the stronghold. If they did that we would have to constantly click on the comp deco in order to set them to the look that we want.

It could easily be resolved on dev side by just making these settings persistent. It shouldn't be hard to store these values in a database. It would be so nice to have all the interactive decos (especially those that look bland when switched off) already "switched on" when we log in.

It wouldn't be hard, but it's still an extra field that would have to be set to *something* for every single decoration that anyone places. Even if it's nullable, you still have to store the null. Placed decorations are almost certainly the *most* numerous data record in the game, ahead even of the data records for player outfits (up to 16 per character!), even if only one percent of players place them.

That means a *lot* of storage for the persistent state.
Something you find difficult is a lesson on how to play better, not a punishment for playing badly.
To go to Belsavis, you must go to Belsavis.

^ This. And people thinking it should be "easy" to add on an interface to allow customizable companion decorations, complete with programmable animations, are expecting way too much from a niche part of the game.
