Do ya'll even have a marketing team?

Imagine people actually understanding 'trademarks', 'licensing agreements, etc. 🤔

Imagine planning a 'year long celebration' for a game under the same franchise that has at least 3 known shows coming out in 2022.

Don't even try that one, buddy. If Eve Online can have a crossover with Doctor Who, there's absolutely no reason why SWTOR can't have a campaign that coincides with TV shows from its own franchise.

Lol!

You seem to overlook the fact that Doctor Who would have had to agree to the use of it's IP in Eve Online, with contracts and agreements etc, etc.

You also overlook the fact that not all "Star Wars" properties, licenses, etc, are owned by the same people.

In the real world, you can't just use some Star Wars elements merely because you want to.

Typical response when you have no idea what to say. Pro tip: in writing, that doesn't buy you any time to come up with something. It just makes you look silly.

Of course they did! But if that is possible, then it shouldn't be more difficult to get it from the same IP.

Imagine SWTOR releasing CM items directly reference SW movies, shows, and games... wait, they already did.

AFTER negotiating licensing agreements etc. It's not that hard of a concept, people. 🙄

The bottom line is that BW can't just use any Star Wars stuff it wants. There are restrictions.

I think you're missing the point. This is the 10 year celebration. They have known well in advance that shows would be coming out. If they had a proper marketing team they'd plan in advance, get whatever agreements needed sorted and take advantage of these huge marketing opportunities. At a minimum they ought be putting any vaguely obi-wan-esque related items on as features.

You're missing the point. Maybe they couldn't negotiate the use of "Obi-wan" esque items, or they couldn't/wouldn't afford the license.

The Steadfast Master set is already there no one is asking for a set literally named "obi-wan's armor set" omg

The OP was saying it's stupid to not featuring the "inspired by obi-wan" armor set as a sale/featured item to make more $$$

Unfortunately, all I can deduce from your posts is that you are just rationalizing. In case you aren't clear on what I mean by this I'll offer you a definition:

Rationalize

răsh′ə-nə-līz″

intransitive verb

2. To explain or justify (one's behavior) with incorrect reasons or excuses, often without conscious awareness.

3. To dismiss or minimize the significance of (something) by means of an explanation or excuse.

Your posts give me the impression you're having a lot of difficulty acknowledging what is otherwise a very reasonable suggestion that this game could have and should have done more to energize and inspire its player base by doing something to acknowledge and help promote a significant event for Star Wars fans. This could have been achieved in several ways. Adding something like a new Eopie mount to the CM or mailing players a "Lola"-inspired mini pet as a simple token of acknowledgment would have been a nice gesture. Even listing existing items such as the Obi-Wan-inspired "Steadfast Master's Robes" and "Blademaster's Lightsaber" would have at least been *something*.

Obi-wan Kenobi show released today and your feature CM item is....a warbot?

Its like you want to leave money on the table. How about some promotional tie in merch?

As you can see, the original post was about a tie-in with the Obi-wan show. I was merely pointing out that doing such a tie-in might involve licencing etc.

Whether or not they do/did some other sort of promotion was not the original issue.

Next time, look up "comprehension" after you look up "rationalize". 😂

We already have Obi-Wan esque items. We have a set that they released semi-recently that uses a character intentionally made to look like Obi-Wan in its CM thumbnail (the Steadfast Master set, made to look like his robes from the Prequel era). All that would have been needed to meet OP's expectations is for one of the Obi-Wan related items to be put on featured to tie in with the show. Could have been the Steadfast Master set, or the Exiled Master set based on his look in the original trilogy, either of those would be fairly clear references to Obi-Wan that would tie in with the show's release. We also have several sabers that seem inspired by Obi-Wan's hilt. Could have put one of those on sale.

You can't expect them to release new CM items when they're hopefully focused on getting 7.1 out, new CM items will come with that update I imagine, but don't act like they don't already have items that would have fit this description.

What is there to use? Another set of brown robes that are a bit higher res than what we currently have?

Brown robes are not exactly something outside of the normal Star Wars universe Disney can sue a Star Wars based game for putting in. Unless they are doing exact replicas and using naming conventions from the series there should be an issue with "Brown Jedi Robes".

They even showed the CM preview stock image of Steadfast Master set wore by a NPC deliberately made to look like Obi-Wan lol

I'm shocked they didn't put that up on the front page along with other jedi related items or create a bundle.

Ya'll don't recall when The Mandalorian series came out and everyone said the exact same thing..."You guys missed the perfect opportunity to cross promote..." What was the response-? They still needed permission and approval to create the likeness of Baby Yoda and Din Jarin. Although not perfectly syncing, we did eventually get items that paid an homage to the series. Give it a bit and we'll see what comes....

At this point I'd say it's entirely possible the SWTOR dev team got a sneak peak of Kenobi ... which is why it's been roundly ignored as a game promo.

Show is trash. A pox on House Mouse.
