What are your 7.0 plans?

Are you going to try an alternate combat style or stick with what you've got?

Personally I'm looking at changing the following:

Female Trooper Vanguard will become Trooper Sniper.

I always thought it was stupid that as a trooper your options were to either fight in melee range with a rifle, or use a big gatling gun (which doesn't look good on most female characters) and stand out in the open taking hits in both cases. Sniper fits trooper really well IMO, I'll finally be able to fight from range and use cover like a decent soldier.

Male Smuggler Gunslinger will become Smuggler Vanguard.

Despite not liking the melee combat style of vanguard, I picked up an Amban JP blaster rifle and the infamous mercenary set for this character, and I like to think of him as kind of a rebel/freedom fighter moreso than a straight up smuggler/criminal. I think the lightning effects and disintegration on kill of the Amban JP blaster rifle will go really well with vanguard ability animations, and I'll just headcanon it as the character being a guerilla fighter with a lightning cannon (I do miss that light lightning cannon from SWG...)

Female Agent Sniper will become Agent Commando.

I have this character in imperial soldier armor and using the imperial squad leader title, I've always wanted more of an imperial trooper character than the agent story provides, but this should be a relatively close fit.

Sith Warrior Juggernaut will become Warrior Assassin.

I have this character held up right at chapter 3 of KOTFE, frozen in carbonite. The idea is that when he thaws out and makes his escape, he'll pick up armor and a pikesaber from one of the zakuul knights and continue using it thereafter. Probably still keep him tank spec though.

Female Smuggler Scoundrel will become Smuggler Gunslinger.

I have an operative and a scoundrel and tbh, other than stealth, i'm not a fan of either's play style and abilities. Since my Male smuggler is going to change to vanguard, this'll let me keep my gunslinger on the female smuggler character.

Male Jedi Knight Guardian will become Jedi Knight Shadow.

Of the two jedi, I definitely prefer the knight story over the consular, but I've just grown bored of the single saber style. It'll be good having the same weapon style as kira anyways.

Female Jedi Consular Shadow will become Jedi Consular Sentinel.

Not a fan of the consular story at all and i've already done it once in the past, but i deleted that character and have achievements I missed, so I have one at low level again. I've never really played sentinel/marauder before, so I'm hoping the combat style will keep things interesting enough to suffer through the story. She's my ahsoka-inspired character anyhow.

My Male Bounty Hunter Powertech, Female Sith Inquisitor Sorceror, and Male Agent Operative are likely all going to remain the same specs.

Yes, that's what I'm going to do.

Some characters will stick, some will change, and the reasons for changing will be mostly random stuff that wanders through my head. Well, except for Xalari'pelarth, who exactly resembles Tari Darkspinner ("The Master" from the <Story Arc> mission sequence on Dromund Kaas), except that Xalari is a Sith Warrior (Jugg) to access TD's Sith Warrior tattoos, but TD uses a double-blade sabre...

Conclusion: Xalari will use Assassin style. Apart from that, it will be whatever tickles my fancy at the relevant moment.

I'm gonna use Vanguard as the second combat style on my Operative main so that I can also tank on that character, while retaining the blaster rifle for a consistent appearance.

Other than that, I'm not going to change any of the characters I'm currently playing. I like them the way they are.

But I have been thinking about things like an Agent Vanguard (another one) as an Imperial Special Forces soldier, and a couple of other things like that, for future characters.

I think the only ones i would change would be the trooper commando. Again for the same reason keep trying to find the smallest cannon..its just looks wrong on a female character I would rather have merc skills tbh, hopefully not contingent on being dark side :(..although being a vanguard play style is fun. I Do love the commando play style like my mercs. The sniper will stay a sniper but always wanted the operative ability for story..she is a spy.. ( LOVE being a spy , and being a double or triple agent ( the case of a chiss) best story EVER) everyone else would stay the same.

My main, a Scoundrel, will be moonlighting as a PT tank, I think, just because tank specs are (mostly) fun, yo (not Darkness tanking...though who knows, we'll see what 7.0 does to it). I just need to put together a cool armored costume that fits his aesthetic that he can swap to. 'bout time, I guess, since he married a Mando all those years ago.

On the flip side: Scoundrels. Scoundrels everywhere. I honestly just love and always have loved the playstyle (although I really, really need them to re-add the cleanse on Disappearing Act, for my sanity's sake, to the 7.0 plans). Of my 10 characters that are from the Tech classes, at least 7 will be Scoundrels as either their "primary" or "secondary" Combat Styles (a meaningless designation for anything but RP, I know, but still). And 1 of the remaining 3 will be an Operative.

On the flip-flip side, I'm gonna say at least a partial goodbye to Sage/Sorc play, I think. The heal specs for them are fun, but DPS and soloing with them is considerably less so. So one Sage is gonna keep the Combat Style for healing, but probably pull out Assassin for the rest of the time. Got a Sorc I'm just thinking I'm gonna flat out delete and re-start being primarily a Marauder with a heal spec, too. I'll also be deleting and re-creating a Sentinel character who I think is better suited to being a Consular, and that character may do a backup-Sage-heals approach, too. I suppose in both those cases, I could make them as Sorc/Sage now and add in the dual-wielding styles later, but I think I'd rather wait for the chance to do the stories with the Combat Style I have more fun playing solo.

Well... lesse...

I think I'll probably keep most of my characters retired for 7.0 because they are currently retired now and I don't really play a lot of them regardless.

For the ones I do play...

Well, my operatives (yes, I have many) will stay Operatives. Possibly swapping one or two to ruffian instead of lethality. I'll play around with it a bit and see how I like it. I used to be somewhat ambivalent on the animations, but I like the shotgun a little bit more than Lethal Strike. Concealment will always be concealment. I don't like scrapper.

I'll keep a merc in IO. I might add an impside character as assault specialist as I actually like the pub animations for that spec.

Sorcs will stay sorc, because purple. My Assassin tank will probably dps in lightning or madness instead of hatred. I never really liked the dps assassin specs. Jugs and Maras will retire. Not fond of them.

I might un-retire my scoundrel, or I might make a new one. Concealment leveling. No consulars, no knights.

So... nothing is really gonna change for me.

All my rep chars will get the imp styles of course - it´ll make the bearable that way I guess?

(I´m farming DS points already).

And the thing I look forward to the most is that my Juggernaut with the cool tattoos will be playable as sorc heal.

Oh yeah!!

Probably mostly going to use it so that I can swap my Jugg to Sin if I need to Sin tank a boss. No more character swapping for me from Jugg to Sin. (I just hope they allow me to swap in phases so I don't have to load out of phase too often). Kinda lame perhaps, but certainly useful.

Also I might actually use the Guardian combat style on my Jugg, since I like the repside animations way better, especially the way they hold their lightsaber. But I'm not certain though, I might miss my good old Scream if I do that.

Most of my existing characters will probably stay as-is since I've gotten used to them and how they play over the years... Some Force-wielders, though, will definitely be taking advantage of being finally able to use the 'proper' powers for their Force Alignment. It may be minor to some degree, just flipping Sorceror for Sage, Assassin for Shadow, etc., but it will be so much more immersive for my Light Side Inquisitor to be throwing rocks like a Jedi instead of lightning like a Sith...

I do, however, have plans for a few new characters based on the freedom, little that no one's mentioned before; BH with a rifle, Agent with a pistol, things like that.

  • 2 weeks later...

My plan is simple, options. For example my Merc main will pick up PT options so it can dps, heal, or tank at will. Same would be true of something like a guardian that picks up sage heals styles. I suspect this will be the typical for most.

What will be most intriguing is those odd ball combination.

For example, a GS/Merc, Op/PT, and the like...

Will this provide an advantage over how things are now, considering they're not going to allow changing of Combat Styles once a character is in a phase?

I'm light side sith sorc, I hope that I won't loose my lightening I enjoy that aspect. I don't want to be forced to be dark side to use that ability. It's fun being opposite of what is expected for the Sith.

You won't. If I understand correctly this is how it works:

If your base class is a dark side force user (so Inquisitor or Warrior) you can pick any of the Dark Side force using combat styles. (So Juggernaut, Marauder, Assassin or Sorcerer). If one of your characters (doesn't matter which) has achieved Light V, you can also pick the light side styles on any character (Guardian, Sentinel, Shadow, Sage). So your Inquisitor will always have the option to play as a Sorcerer (so with lightning) regardless of their alignment.
