Kyber Crystal Question

This may be old news.

When creating the Lightsaber for his stories, did George Lucas ever consider making the Kiber Crystals so incredibly dense, that a crystal used in a Lightsaber would make the weapon weigh like 100 or 200 pounds? The point being, Lightsabers would be so heavy that it would require a force user to manipulate the weapon.

What do yall think? I think this would have been cool. A required magical skill to wield a sword that can cut through anything!

Originally Lucas viewed them as heavy. In an interview with Mark Hamill, he stared that Lucas continually told him to hold the hilt with two hands and imagine it was heavy like a broadsword. However, Lucas also later stated that the fights of Episodes IV and V were designed to be clumsier and slower. Vader vs Obi-Wan was a broken man vs an old man; while Luke vs Vader was a half trained kid vs someone holding back his punches. By Episode VI it’s a Jedi Knight vs a Sith Lord and you see a bit more intensity (although Vader’s costume physically hindered the actor).

Lucas said that for the prequels he wanted to show what a Jedi at their height looked like.

In "reality," since lightsabers emit a stream of magnetically contained plasma, those magnetic fields would require a fair amount of strength to manipulate, certainly in a swordfight, so someone needing a lot of physical strength or Force-enhanced strength is still consistent with the fictional science needed to explain the weapons.

I think it would have been a pretty good plot point in the movies. Imagine a scene where a cowardly Empire Officer/General is struggling to try and pick up a Lightsaber that a Jedi has dropped. The Jedi slowly and calmly approaches him knowing the officer's attempts are futile. Next we see a quick force pull and a swift saber strike as the Jedi takes him out. Now it would probably be better by replacing the Jedi with Darth Maul or Vader but you get my point.
