Heyo, is it possible to rename your pet?

It's nice and all but THERE'S THIS HUGE PETNAME RUNNING ACROSS YOUR SCREEN ALL THE TIME NOW which is more prominent than the pet itself and devalues it therefore imho.

 

Alternatively I wanted to disable the petname completely but pets seem to be regular NPCs that are merely stuck to you, which would be alright if pets were subcategorized as NPC>PETS or something similar. The only way to disable petnames I found was therefore to disable NPC names entirely but this workaround is really not good since you have to disable NPC names entirely.

 

Is there anything else I could try like some config file perhaps? I can see that fixing this may be a pain in the λ$$ but I also stumbled upon similar requests dating back as far as 2013 and this is a bit of a sorry state frankly.

I understand the problem, but there are more significant problems with minipets, like the fact that the game never remembers from one login to the next which pet you had out. So that pet you like to have with you, you have to keep summoning it every time you log in. Compare GW2 or WoW or ESO, where the selected minipet stays selected and comes back when you log in again, and in ESO it's even visible alongside your character in the character select screen.

Thx for your feedback! All things mentioned are kind of expected in todays mmo-frameworks and although by far not anything gamebraking for me, it feels like such an oversight when the rest of the swtor interface is really good.

Perhaps the pet name is turned off if you turn off "NPC nametags" in Preferences. (I don't know.)
