Game Update 6.1.1 Conquest Changes

The Lost Island flashpoint is listed as a 50-70 daily objective. The veteran mode exists, but ITS NOT IN THE QUEUE. Realistically, few in this level range are going to be able to complete this objective.

And if you are going to make The Esseles and Black Talon daily objectives for the 10-50 range, you might want to expand the range eligible for the veteran mode queue.

Hello everyone!

I'm back with another update with regards to the upcoming Conquest changes. As I mentioned in my previous post, here is a full breakdown of what a Conquest's objectives will look like. For comparison sake, this is the revised version of the Conquest event currently happening on live servers - Total Galactic War. I've broken up the objectives into their respective level ranges and there is one thing I would quickly like to note. Some objectives only become available after you complete others. For example, if you complete the Weekly "Starfighter: Bomber Pilot" objective, it will then unlock the repeatable "Starfighter: Bomber Pilot Eternal". These exceptions are either denoted with an "Eternal" or "Part 2" in their name.

Lastly, I would like to talk about something some of you have raised concerns about - Solid Resource Matrices. From our perspective, we want to make personal rewards useful to the character that achieved them. With that in mind, we also understand why this inflow is appealing to crafters. While keeping the Solid Resource Matrices strictly to the Level 71+ range, our current internal iteration has an increased quantity of Matrices to help bridge that gap (from 2 to 4 - Guild Conquest rewards remain unchanged). Considering this subject has been a talking point in this thread, we wanted to open a discussion about your thoughts.

Thank you for putting the list out!

From what I've found, the crew skill mission objectives...such as "Mission Director" do not work with the gathering skill missions, such as Scav / Sli / etc. They do work for Treasure Hunting / Underworld Trading / etc. I presume that is intended, but (in my opinion) the mission objective title could be phrased better to explain which crew skill missions are targeted.

Perhaps using the same terminology as the amplifiers which also have that split?

My first immediate response---don't make the Crafting Rally Part 2 a weekly. Keep it as a daily repeatable, even if you nerf the points some. I'd rather it still be daily repeatable, even, say, at 20,000 points. Making it weekly ruins the point of even having it as a guild perk when all the other <Objective> Rallies are daily repeatables.

completely agree. this would be a bad nerf.

also what makes it good idea to limit 71-75lvls to have rampage on only 3 planets? ossus, onderon and meksha those are some insane limits to put on rampages.

But it goes perfectly with their new as of 6.0 idea - the only "endgame" is the stuff they put in recently, and please ignore the fact that you get the same rewards by doing old stuff, that's just a side effect of their inability to create new content. But since it's not real "endgame" they then don't have to be bothered scaling it either! Win-win right?! (/sarcasm, if it wasn't obvious, I think this concept was beyond idiotic)

I like the changes.

The objectives are so numerous that anyone can find several for their playstyle now. Some are very easy to complete, so anyone playing game will be able to cap at least one character without any grinding or investing too much time. The weekly to repeatable objective is nice that it does not "clutter" the UI with many objectives for those that do not want to do them - if I don't do GSF weeklies, I will not see the repeatables, which is appreciated, as scrolling the whole list of objectives and searching for one I want to do next would take longer.

I also like that crafting objectives now include harvesting and sending companions on missions for missions-only crew skills, some of my characters that have pure harvesting or mission crew skills send their best regards! I will miss Crafting Rally - part 2 being daily, but yeah, it was just too good for such a small investments. Crafting Rally - part 1 is imo extremly useless for anyone who does not have stacks of invasion forces from time when they were much cheaper and easier to do - for most players it is unrealistic to craft and donate 30! Invasion Forces daily. Just count how many mats are needed to create them... It is something on par with Ziost Rampage  (Really... when you created this objective, was it an easter egg to troll players? :D) Some of the objectives might need a bit of polishing, but the direction is good and the odd one or two will get lost in the amount of new objectives that can be done easily - and you will probably have a statistic on which objectives get completed often and which are being skipped and will adjust accordingly later.

The changes to rewards are also good, as the more numerous matrices will drive down their price and make crafting augments faster for people who play solo or in small guilds. The added credit chips are nice, but not really something that would help much - personal weekly reward for conquest will give enough to swap out one armoring or mod or enhancement. But it is better than what we have now. As for not including the matrices for lower levels - well I can see that for really new players the matrices will not be much useful and only confuse them, while low level alts of experienced players will now be unable to get them - perhaps there will be some double xp event where they can level the alts up to 71...

Hi Dan,

Please consider this :

1. We now have legacy wide material storage for any mats we pick up. It doesn’t mater what character we are on when we get them, they all go into the same place and can be accessed instantly by any Alt.

2. By limiting the Matrices to lvl 71+ characters, you are basically forcing us to play Alts we may not want to play.

3. Why do you guys always feel the need to try and “herd “ us into playing the game the way you want us to play it and not what is fun for us or allow us to “play our way”.

4. I don’t see how giving matrices to sub 71+ Alts will make any difference to you (no skin off your noses if you let sub 71 characters have them). But it will make a difference to us because we can “play the game our way” and have fun doing it.

5. And Frankly, I think all of us are getting a bit sick and tired of you guys (I mean Bioware) deciding what we should consider fun. If you guys listened to the players more, we’d have a bunch more players still. But instead you dictate to us (most of the time) the way you want us to play the game and you often drain the fun out of the game instead of making it better.

6. I can see some effort going into the changes, which is good that you are listening to the feed back (more than normal ;)). But if you take this path with the matrices, it will end up being like every other good change you make, 2 steps forward and 1 step back.

Edit: sorry if that came across a bit snarky. Dealing with a fever at the moment

snipped out all but the part I'm responding to

I feel your pain with this. An ultimate joke

However, if you know someone who hasn't completed the quest, you can have them warp you to the story part of ziost, before the planet dies, and you have WAY more mobs to kill.

Ugh, that's never fun...even less so now. Feel better soon!

It occurred to me that if the goal it to remove KP farming, there's a far easier way to do it than adjusting the xp/conquest point ratio or redoing every conquest.

Drop 50k points required for conquest and go back down to 15k. It was raising the points required that made people look for the quickest way to get conquest over with and done.

So...Hail a taxi doesn't work at level 75 like it did before the patch today (Friday).

Level locked? or removed?

I don't really have many low level characters on PTS...

The objective for assigning a utility point seems to be missing as well...or also removed.

However, if you know someone who hasn't completed the quest, you can have them warp you to the story part of ziost, before the planet dies, and you have WAY more mobs to kill.

I know, I even did that once, but I consider it bending the system - people who play the game as intended and do the quests on Ziost to progress story are locked out of this objective, unless they find someone who has an alt that is at the right moment of the story and has time to bring them into their phase.

But I once bet with friend and managed to do the rampage I after a day of killing monoliths and droids :D

Why are daily objectives for flashpoints master mode only for level 71+?

I thought the point was to give us more options.

Don't get me wrong, I do love playing master mode flashpoints with my guildies from time to time but they require

coordinating between people with work and family obligations and more time and energy I can commit to after a day at work.

There's a lot of level 75 player queuing for the veteran weekly flashpoints, why couldn't that count for conquest anymore?

Please consider adding veteran mode for the weekly and daily repeatable and possibly story mode for the repeatable (with adjusted rewards of course)

This was my immediate thought too on reading the proposals (unless level 71+ also have access to lower level objectives in addition to their own). Most of my characters are level 75 but I play more for story than challenge and many MM flashpoints are a struggle for me, and I don't enjoy doing them. Up till now I have always enjoyed doing the story mode flashpoints when they've been conquest objectives, and I quite like doing veteran flashpoints with guildmates. I know there are a fair number of solo objectives in the 71+ range, but I'd be sad if I felt forced into content that is stressful rather than pleasurable, just so I could do some group conquest activities with my guild.

Another point: just because a character is level 71+ it does not mean it has reached the stage in the game where it has access to Mek-Sha, Onderon and Ossus missions, or the loyalist sweeps/saboteur spy games. Because I do a lot of conquest in support of my guild, my characters level up fast and reach level 75 long before they finish their class stories (and conversely, completing class stories is slow because I spending so much time doing conquest). A lot of the 71+ objectives are going to be unavailable to them.

Well, I'm not fond of the "Defeat Enemies" 1 & 2 being level locked.

I play mostly on level 75 toons and do not spend a lot of time on these three planets:

Mek-Sha

Onderon

Ossus

That being said, I was still able to get conquest on 3 sets of toons today, although it took significantly longer than a couple days ago.

Weekly

[*]Crafting: Rally Part 2 - Aid your faction by crafting a Dark Project.

Please do not change the Rally Part 2 to a weekly! It is the only reason that brought me back to playing your Conquest again after you changed it to 50.000 points. 50.000 points is possible for one character, but that's it.

Crafting Rally Part 2 enables me to play Conquest also on alts. I put 4 alts into a guild which has this perk and now I can bring 5 chars per week to the personal Conquest goal. One char per day. I get 35k for the Dark Project and then play for 15k. That is acceptable for me.

Note that 15k is something which I can and am willing to achieve per character. Not 50k. It's not about difficulty or something. It's about time. I have a job, I have a life, I'm an adult. I cannot bring 5 chars per week to 50k conquest without crafting rally part 2. Sure, I don't have to. But why take the possibility - which already exists in the game - away? I don't understand the harm. The big guilds will find ways to exploit your system anyway. Your change punishes (again) casual players like me. I'm mildly displeased, like the Chinese investors with the Bluth company. Don't make me send you a foot prosthetics via airnail.

If you make this a weekly, I will go back to only play Conquest with one character. And then, chances are that I completely stop participating in Conquest. Again. Until I find another way which makes Conquest fun again for me.

You guys at BW have a tendency to find the things which players actually like and what they actually do in the game, take it, and then take it away from the players. I don't understand why you're doing that. I often feel like you are punishing me for finding things in the game which I enjoy and have fun doing. :(

Daily:

[*]Space Combat: Fleet Command - Complete any Space Mission.

Good. BW does remember that space missions are still in the game. I always enjoyed them. Until there was no incentive to play them anymore. Now I might actually play those missions again.

[*]Crafting: Rally Part 1 - Aid your faction by donating 3 War Supplies: Invasion Force to the war effort. Each donation will consume 10 War Supplies. (Donate by right-clicking a stack of 10 war supplies).

Honestly, has anyone ever done this? Please raise your hand, if you did. I'm curious.

[*]Flashpoint: Battle of Rishi (Master Mode) - Complete Flashpoint: Battle of Rishi on Master difficulty

[*]Flashpoint: Esseles (Master Mode) - Complete Flashpoint: Esseles on Master difficulty

[*]Flashpoint: Kaon Under Siege (Master Mode) - Complete Flashpoint: Kaon Under Siege on Master difficulty

[*]Flashpoint: Maelstrom Prison (Master Mode) - Complete Flashpoint: Maelstrom Prison on Master difficulty

[*]Flashpoint: Taral V (Master Mode) - Complete Flashpoint: Taral V on Master difficulty

[*]Flashpoint: Crisis on Umbara (Master Mode) - Complete Flashpoint: Crisis on Umbara on Master difficulty

Since Mr. Kanneg took over, you emphasise the harder parts of this game again. I just want to remind you, dear people at BW, that you tried this before. And it seems that you still haven't learned your lesson from the development back then. As an example, take patch 1.1 and remember how few people were able to do (and/or interested in) the added flashpoints Kaon under Siege and Lost Island. Until today, these two FPs are considered two of the hardest contents of this game, even after all the nerfs. They are in fact so hard, that you don't even dare putting them into the Group Finder. So, who exactly is your target group? Who do you cater to? I'm aware that Mr. Kanneg likes hard content, but how many people are LFGing for MM FPs? How many MM FP pops are there in the GF? The majority of the playerbase doesn't seem to do this kind of content.

Kaon under Siege MM? Crisis on Umbara MM? Tough stuff. You gotta give a lot of points for those missions, otherwise they are just a waste of space in the Conquest list and no one will ever do those.

Solution: Don't just give points for Master Mode. Also give points for Veteran Mode. Can be less points, of course, but at least have it as a possibility. Honestly, even add solo mode. Of course, for even less points, but give options. The more options, the more players might be attracted to Conquest. You are on the right track with your changes, but you can still do it more thoroughly. And please, don't put your focus on the top 2% of the players. (I'm looking at the Odessen operation updates, as mentioned in another thread. How many players are doing that operation? Is that something which should be focussed on while at the same time, it seems that everyone is doing nothing but KP farm runs? BW, give alternatives for the players! Not constricted alternatives which the majoirty of the playerbase will never touch. Real alternatives. Thank you for considering it.)

About the little bits you will add to Conquest (e. g. selling junk or giving gifts to companions): I think that these are all very good ideas, and they might also help new players as some kind of additional tutorial. The more options, the better (see above).

One idea from me: Could the group contents which are not available via Group Finder be added as regular dailies to the Conquest? I am thinking about:

* The Shroud Heroic 4

* Dread Seed Heroic 4

* Collocoid War Games FP

* Kaon Under Siege FP (not just Master Mode!)

* Lost Island FP

(Are there others which are missing in GF?)

I think this might make it easier for people to group up for those. These are all interesting missions, but they are almost impossible to ever find a group for, even if you are in a big guild. (Side note: I think that the best solution would still be to add solo mode versions to those missions, but that's a topic for another day.)

TL;DR: Overall, good changes, but needs some tweeking (e. g. Crafting Rally Part 2 needs to remain a daily, and additional options for existing conquest missions should be added).

Hello everyone!

I don't understand limiting objectives to certain levels. Most of my toons I play are level 75. I am locked out from most new objectives. And if I once in a year play a lower level toon, why would I even do conquest with it, with the reward system? And if I start an objective on certain level, but level up over a treshold, I'm not gonna get the points anyhow.

If you are planning to give us more objectives so that people wouldn't farm KP, then do so. Don't limit them on certain levels only.

Hello everyone!

  • Flashpoint: Battle of Rishi (Master Mode) - Complete Flashpoint: Battle of Rishi on Master difficulty
  • Flashpoint: Esseles (Master Mode) - Complete Flashpoint: Esseles on Master difficulty
  • Flashpoint: Kaon Under Siege (Master Mode) - Complete Flashpoint: Kaon Under Siege on Master difficulty
  • Flashpoint: Maelstrom Prison (Master Mode) - Complete Flashpoint: Maelstrom Prison on Master difficulty
  • Flashpoint: Taral V (Master Mode) - Complete Flashpoint: Taral V on Master difficulty
  • Flashpoint: Crisis on Umbara (Master Mode) - Complete Flashpoint: Crisis on Umbara on Master difficulty

Why only these 6 for daily objectives ? Why half of them are pub only ? Am I missing something ?

If you're pugging, using the group finder, and you play empire, well, the only one that realistically has good chances is Kaon. Rishi and Umbara usually people quit after zoning in...:rak_02:

The Solid Resource Matrices, so you are really saying this is for players who have subbed at least once since last story update. We have been down this path before, hiding mats behind either subscription or group play only, is never a good thing.

As others have said if you are going to add FP's such as The Esseles then Black Talon also needs to be there.

Not really done much this time round on PTS so for the most part will have to wait until it go's live. I would like to see more solo FP's added to the lists.

At first, I thought these proposed changes were all very good, but on thinking about it, I think not allowing stronghold conquest boosts for all unlisted activities combined with not listing veteran flashpoints for Level 75s could have a negative effect on the game, including on newer players.

MM FPs require an experienced group, and take too much time for people for families or with jobs to do regularly. Moreover, level 75s are especially willing to help and teach newer folks on veteran FPs because they get something out of it. Stripping a major incentive for cross-level groups is probably not a good idea.

Plus, in my experience, for many casual players who are subscribers, vet FPs are a major source of fun in the game. Reducing the conquest they get from them is likely to create a grind and reduce interest in the game. The proposed structure favors mainline PvP over PvE, while PvE is a distinguishing strength of SWTOR.

Wait a second... what are they doing to SH bonuses?

I could be wrong, but I was pretty sure they were just making it so conquest points from xp would only be based on base xp not from extra xp perks from guild and boosts, and that stronghold bonus still would work as it does now.

Then I retract my comment. Though it would be good if the devs could confirm your understanding because it would make a big difference.

You are indeed correct! We have no plans on touching the Stronghold bonus.

In other news, I have two more adjustments we have made on our end. These changes aren't on the PTS yet, but these will go into effect next time Conquest is updated.

  • Planets will be opened up to all players who meet the level requirement to go to that planet.
    • (For example, level 75 players can complete the objectives on Alderaan, Tatooine, ect.)

[*]The Level 71+ bracket will have the objectives for Story and Veteran Flashpoints, as well as Master.

The feedback here has been very helpful, thank you all for the input!

Thanks for the clarification.

Those changes sound good. I'm assuming that won't include starter world and capital world rampages, so that 75s won't overrun lowbies.
