Combat Style Choice For Existing Characters?

When 7.0 is introduced will non force user characters that have already been created be able to change their initial combat style?

Thank you.

The last paragraph of this article suggests that all characters (force and tech) will be able to change our current combat styles if we wish. The key part is "previous Advanced Class", meaning when 7.0 launches our current characters will have their 6.0 advanced class removed leaving us free to choose whichever combination of 7.0's Combat Styles that we want. Of course, dev clarification would be great but this is the closest we have to that so far.

"If you have an existing character when Legacy of the Sith launches, when you log into the game, you will be able to choose a Combat Style immediately. You can choose a Combat Style similar to your previous Advanced Class or choose something new. The choice is yours!"

To be honest, I dont see how the 'initial' story class will be re-selectable. You are already in the story. Youll be able to instantly pick your second class, but the first is very likely going to be set in stone.

Their stated objective is to extricate class from story. Eg, there is the Imperial Agent origin story, but your Agent could fight more like a Pyro PT aka use the PT combat style.

TLDR: afaik you should be able to pick anything available to your origin or w/e they're calling it.

the restriction for which classes (combat styles) a given story class can select will be a split between force and tech. sticking with the previous poster mentioning agents: an imperial agent (currently a sniper or operative) will still be an agent for story. they will get to choose from sniper, operative, powertech and merc combat styles. once your legacy meets the requirements, you unlock access the republic mirror combat styles (IE gunslinger).

at this time, an agent can not be sith or jedi.

This is one of the main misconceptions I've seen on the forums where people confuse classes, origin styles, advanced classes and combat styles.

To be very clear:

Base class = origin style (new name)

Advanced class = combat style (new name)

When 7.0 launches, your current origin style does not change. You will however be able to choose a new combat style.

Origin styles have no attachment to combat styles beyond the force and tech barrier. Origin styles do not grant any abilities for use in combat. Origin styles solely dictate your story.

When you pick your first and second combat styles, you do not gain access to more story content because combat styles solely dictate your in-game combat. If you are playing a jedi knight origin style and currently are a jedi guardian, when 7.0 launches you will likely be able to choose a different first combat style, or continue with the jedi guardian combat style you already have. Then you will be able to pick a second combat style. If this were say, a jedi sage combat style, you would still be playing a jedi knight, just with the jedi shadow combat style. This is because the jedi shadow no longer has any ties to the jedi consular origin story.

You didnt understand what I said. The person who started the thread asked if he could change his origin class after the new expact. Answer is no.
