LOL Day 2: "Jellied Glowshroom"... Same as yesterday.

Seriously why is it even random? Why isn't it a rotation between the 4 (in theory) dishes?

Probably because they still think RNG is "exciting", and because cheevos too are now based on how lucky you are when you roll dice (such as Dxun MM sets). Instead of letting people learn to work their way towards a goal, an achievement they want, they rather have us learn how to mindlessly roll a dice over and over again, feeding people's addictions and making them more receptive to gambling with CM loot boxes.

This is about the "Challenge Dish" mission, not the "Cooking" mission. The "Challenge Dish" mission - for the second day in a row - is "Challenge Dish: Ultimate Galactic Sampler". This is the same "

Challenge Dish" mission that showed up for 21 straight days last year and 2 straight days this year so far. The probability of that happening truly randomly (assuming a 0.5 probability for each mission) is one in 10,000,000. (0.5 ^ 23 = 0.0000001192)

This is either a bug or not a uniform distribution (0.5 probability); the Spicy Nexu Tongue is probably intentionally coded to show up extremely rarely or not at all.

Agree with this sentiment: (2 dishes, not 4) ("Challenge Dish: Ultimate Galactic Sampler", "Challenge Dish: Spicy nexu Tongue")

Seriously why is it even random? Why isn't it a rotation between the 4 (in theory) dishes?

Addition: The "Cooking" mission could be the source of a separate frustration; it is not my intention to minimize that issue.

Fairly certain that the missing achievement is from the easy cooking missions which are supposed to have 4 different dishes, not the "hard" ones.

Heck this is why hiding that kind of achievement is UTTERLY STUPID, and it is hard to remain polite. No one has a clue what to do.

The missing achievement is obtained by starting and abandoning Cooking AND Challenge missions. All the easy ones (i.e. Cooking missions) did rotate in and out last year itself. One Challenge mission has been available all along. That leaves the Challenge mission "Spicy Nexu Tongue" which has never shown up.

Does that mean actually abandoning the quest or just leaving the instance after you start it?

You prepare the Dish and instead of putting it on the counter you leave the kitchen. Not abandoning the quest.

Really? Abuse what I did was start making the dish and then leave. I’m just wondering how we know how far we have to progress before we leave.

I've left at two different stages just to play it safe:

- Immediately after the final ingredient in a dish is revealed

- Just before the judgment phase (when it says put the dish on the Expo table)

We don't know anything for certain, that's true.

Hi mike_carton,

Missions are randomly chosen every day. That said, there's a 50% chance the challenge of the day is Spicy Nexu Tongue, so chances are high that you'll see it soon.

That is what you (BW) said last year.

Hopefully, this answer was a communication specialist's attempt to buy some time while you immediately went to the dev team and asked them to get it fixed.

Jackie,

If I understand correctly, the odd of Spicy Nexu vs Galatic Sample is 50% each day. What's troubing is it's been the Galactic Sample three days in a row now; so a 12.5% chance of this outcome happening. Is there any way you can confirm this achievement has definitely been fixed and we're just experiencing bad RNG? The thought of having to wait another full year to go through these conversations all over again is giving many of us anxiety :(

Thanks!

I didn't want to say it, but since you already brought it up: I don't think she's going to the developers. She looked at the RNG selection between 2 missions and told us that there's a 50% chance which means we'll see it soon (probably because she thinks we don't realize the 50% chance and its implication). I don't think she actually talked to the developers or plans to talk to the developers.

Current Situation: This is like 24 consecutive coin tosses coming up HEADS; probability is 0.5 ^ 24 = 0.00000006, less than 1 in 10,000,000.

I suspect the chance of "Spicy Nexu Tongue" coming up is less than 50%.

Hi all,

I'll be passing along these concerns to the team. Additionally, I understand that speculation can happen when it comes to how issues, concerns, bugs, feedback, etc... is handle behind the scenes. Please understand that when I said my goal is to communicate the sentiments of the players to the dev team, that is what I do.

I'll be bringing these concerns up to the team as I did when I initially responded in this thread.

3rd day and still no Nexu recipe... Guess it's still bugged, I hope the dev team won't notice it on the 3 last days like last year...

this is an utterly meaningless data sample. have you never flipped heads on a coin 3x in a row? it's neither difficult to imagine nor particularly uncommon.

Current Situation: This is like 24 consecutive coin tosses coming up HEADS; probability is 0.5 ^ 24 = 0.00000006, less than 1 in 10,000,000.

I suspect the chance of "Spicy Nexu Tongue" coming up is less than 50%.

this, on the other hand, strongly suggests something isn't functioning properly.

all of this assumes the data is accurate and it occurred 24x in a row with the same (supposed) 50% probability each "flip," which I have no reason to doubt but eh.

Thank you, Jackie. I'm sorry for what I wrote above.

The cynicism is born of years of negative experiences especially when it comes to Achievements. I might write a longer post later but it felt like salt was being rubbed into a wound when I read that the two outcomes have equal probabilities when we've seen that only one outcome EVER occurred. We know from experience (and it is plain as day to every player) that RNG in SWTOR does NOT mean random numbers are generated from Discrete Uniform Distributions. So, "potential outcomes are generated through RNG" does NOT automatically mean "all outcomes have equal probability"; just ask anybody buying CM packs or buying unidentified armor on the fleet or looking for Czerka's "erroneous shipment."

At any rate, I look forward to hearing from you again on this topic.

This is the thing I have ALWAYS hated about this game: the RNG. It is absolutely atrocious. "50% to be a certain mission each day"... "Doesn't show up a single day for 3 weeks straight"... "Working as intended"...

BW has some of the most piss-poor programmers in the industry. Fix your code.

Well imagine the gear achievements and the sets you get from Kai, I have been doing that for almost a year now and still not finished due to RNG.

Yeah, it appears that nothing has been actually done to fix this. There were a couple of patch notes after the event last year but none related to this problem.

BIOWARE: the 50% seem to be actually 100% for Ultimate Galactic Sampler (as last year). So please fix that DURING(!) the event this year. Although it may be far-fetched and counter-intuitive, what about a fixed schedule, with daily change of the dishes. Or is it impossible to get rid of RNG in the code and/or in the mind?

Rant Warning: I am quite annoyed that its been untouched since LAST YEAR, you can't fix this single bug thats been burning a hole in cheevo hunters achievement list for whole year but you have found time to kick apart all classes, take away/prune away abilities and duct-taping it together for next big patch?

Seriously fix this bug or just put some workaround there because this hidden achievement isnt really achievement anymore, its just an annoyance we as players cant do anything about in order to get it.
