Fleet Penthouse Stronghold Feedback

Hi Dev team,

 

Please, please, why, why the stronghold is so dismal ???!!!

 

Where is the grandiose ?? We are in space, l need, we need ,we need to see the stars not walls, comone pls.

 

For me this new stonghold, is a cellar, it lacks ambition, please by the Force, more space, more stars...

Well .. in their defese:

** This is an apartment style. You may get a "view" ... you may not. At best you'll get one area that is facing the stars. The rest really should be walled in. IMO That part they got right!

** If a significant part was "view" you'd just see more of the "fleet" or arms of the space station (more than likely).

** A number of folks had requested a smaller "apartment type" complex. And there has been at least one post that has suggested that this is a VERY LARGE apartment.

 

The over all scale for a SH is not too bad really. It's kind of large for an apartment ... but not too overwhelming. Although if someone were wanting to use one room for a "bedroom" setting ... all of the rooms might be too large for that.

 

Aside from that the over all scale seems to be reasonably well done (IMO) .

I'm hoping they split the larger sideroom into two, however, in case they don't, I'm already planning my "cribs" style mega bedroom :D It will be ridiculously opulent and unnecessary and probably have a water feature or two. Or three.

I always forget this is possible. Great reminder.

Here's how I used the room that looks out to space for a bedroom:

EDIT: The medium floor hooks need to have to option to alter the layouts to narrow and small hooks please as currently plain medium is preventing us placing personnel and small civic/environmental decorations.

My nightclub/cantina is ruined without it's small hook only singer in the right place /cry

I actually thought of using one of the rooms and set it up like a "loft style" apartment room ... bed to one side ... GTN access on the other side with some other appropriate dressings in between. The cargo storage as well as mail box and Legacy storage will fit in there as well too. Throw in a couple of Wampa rugs and call it good !!

 

There is a LOT that can be done along those lines !!

Here's a new set of feedback on the Carrick Station apartments (4/7) --

 

BUGS

 

* Interior View Side Room Music -- The ambient SH music doesn't stop. It plays at the same time as the casino music. If you start a Jukebox, it no longer stops the other sounds. Instead, you get all 3 tracks playing at the same time, at the same volume. (This worked before the latest patch but is now broken. Personally, I prefer the casino music with an override for an active jukebox, not ambient zone music.)

 

* All Hallways Wall Hooks Floating -- The angled Small Wall hooks are floating out away from the wall a bit, so anything put in there (especially trophies and flat things) look like they're floating.

 

* All Hallways Wall Hooks Angle -- The Small Wall hooks on one side aren't quite at the same angle as the wall, which looks very odd.

 

* Octagon (large) Room Lighting -- The center of the room has a spotlight with no visible source. If you place a light in the center Ceiling hook (even the brightest lights), it doesn't change the room lighting at all. In fact, the ceiling is so high, no ceiling lights provide illumination on the floor, only high on the walls, leaving the room in an odd twilight.

 

ISSUES

 

* Side Rooms Flooring -- Flooring hooks are not centered under Large Floor hooks. If I put an Arrangement: Basic Lounge in a Large Floor hook, I can't then center a rug underneath it without moving the furniture away from the wall.

 

* Octagon (large) Room Wall Hooks -- The Large Wall hooks are too high to use with utility and other interactive items, even if you switch it to two Medium Wall hooks and lower the deco (such as a wall GTN) as far down as it will go. Please switch this to be two Large Wall hooks, one above the other, so we can place decos both high and low.

 

SUGGESTIONS

 

* Main (first) Room Elevator Door -- Please switch the two Small Wall hooks over the door to the elevator area for a Medium Wall hook, so that we can use the Elevator Sign. It's a cool deco and there's no good place to put it in any SH.

 

* Ceiling of Hallway to Octagon Room-- Please add ceiling hooks, just like the tunnel to the spaceport in the Tatooine stronghold, so that we add light, FX, etc.

 

* Sides of Hallway to Octagon Room -- Please allow the side Small Floor hooks to combine into Medium Narrow hooks, so we can add lights, tech items, signs, etc.

 

* Station Exterior -- Please add some Starship hooks that convert into other arrangements, so we can add lights, radar dishes, shuttles, etc. If that doesn't make sense, please add something interesting out there, like a radar array, patrol ship flyby's, etc.

 

* General Layout -- Please add one more small side room without a view, so we can have a small bedroom, kitchen, utility room, whatever.

 

* Decorations -- Please create floor-to-ceiling wall decorations that we can add in Medium Narrow/Medium hooks, in the same style, some with doorways and some without, in a variety of lengths, so we can customize the internal layout of the rooms.

You can split the rooms yourself, using the stone walls. Other walls can be used but they don't reach the ceiling.

I've requested more walls, that reach the ceiling, so hopefully that might happen :)

I'm aware I can add my own walls but I think they ruin the look of my stronghold. The only place I might use walls is in the the large main room as more of room divider rather than true walls. That said, now I've had a chance to decorate, I think I can live with the other Penthouse rooms as they are should they choose not to alter it.

 

I'm finding the inability to alter the layouts for medium floor hooks and large wall hooks more of a problem, as I mentioned in a previous post.

Some good ideas for a future space station ... maybe !! I like these ideas !!

 

I also like the color of the "filters" used on the windows much better than the "yellow tint" currently on the Republic side !!

You can split the rooms yourself, using the stone walls. Other walls can be used but they don't reach the ceiling.

I'd love to see short and long wall segments with a doorway built into them. They'd work better and look more natural than always leaving openings at the sides or corners.

 

I have a difficult time using some of the existing wall decorations because they're so thick, they take up a lot of space.

 

Wouldn't it be cool if they released another bundle of walls -- even if it's just the existing walls with some width/height adjustments, to give us more variety?

^^ along with a bundle of " tech" gadgets or light fixtures !! IMO one of the keys to making this Penthouse apartment work will be the stuff we put inside ... not just random "artifacts". (tried to be diplomatic) ;)

Were these made by you? They look great. This is more along the lines of what one should see in " Fleet SH" I think. Putting SH on a huge outpost in middle of space,where it is surrounded by capital ships of a gigantic space navy..and then having a freakin cantina be the most prominent thing present scenery-wise? Bit like visiting Grand Canyon and spending time staring at a soda can.

 

Interfleet transport area is a perfect example of the atmopshere I would have liked to see.

 

In general, prisons have larger widows and more sceneries than this "penthouse". Wasted opportunity in similar way Manaan was. There, you had a stamp-sized view to underwater sceneries. Nice.

 

Besides that, we already have at least three SHs with this same exact lluxury suite vibe. Something more navy or military themed would have been nice.

 

Looking forward to Kashyyyk luxury penthouse which features a prominent build in 1:1 painting of the imperial fleet's cantina and 0 trees.

Kind of what I was eluding to when I was talking about bundling earlier... we could definitively use some new styles and perhaps combine with other really nice ones to create a "lighting bundle" . Or perhaps even a new "drop" of some sort while in game !!

 

Also a more "natural or white" lighting would work.. Blue as you have suggested might work as well !!

 

I hope they do something about that "yellow tint" on the Republic side !! UGH it really takes away from the overall view !! It should also be noted that even in RL we have gone to strictly LED/ dimmable/ "Daylight" (not "soft white") just to improve the overall lighting throughout the house.

I noticed that some decorations with fire or similar (such as the holosconce) make an overbearing horrible roaring sound rather that a light crackling fire sound. Might want to fix this before going live.

 

Edit: However, on a positive note the Ambient Machines finally work and sound excellent :) I have rain, thunder and birds playing in the main room - it's fantastic. I hope it's not the result of a bug.

Since the subject of sound / music has come up:

 

 

UPDATE:

** For me on the Republic side the sound is awful !!! The sound track that is played while logging in or changing characters (normally) is so loud that it drowns out everything else (Even a water fall area that I had set up) !! :eek:

Keep in mind that this music normally fades out after 1-1/2 to 2 minutes of logging in. It's so bad that I finally set preferences for "music" at ZERO while on PTS !!! (it really is that annoying).

 

** Ambient sounds: are minimal even though I have preferences set at 100%.

This is something that MUST be fixed !! This is a deal breaker !! Control over the sounds for the Penthouse is a MUST !!

Also another update: Graphics bug (???) The "opened seam" (for lack of a better term) that allows us to see space that surrounds the entire space station while standing at the second threshold is still there !!

It sounds like the fire is louder than it used to be, or maybe it's a matter of where I placed them.

 

Also, the Holo Sign decos (mostly the new Mek-Sha ones) are so annoyingly buzzy and loud, I hate to use them. If you put up more than one, the sounds seem to combine exponentially. It's like nails on a chalkboard.

 

It's also too loud and too much after awhile on the game map. There are places on Mek-Sha I can't stand to spend much time, which is really a shame because it has one of the best location designs in the game. (I want a Mek-Sha apartment someday!)

 

Devs, please cut the fire volume by 25% and the Holo Sign volumes by 50% (or even 75%)?

This small change would make a huge difference.

 

Meanwhile... has anyone noticed much happening outside the Fleet apartment windows?

I think I noticed a few small ships moving very slowly, but nothing significant. Are there any Tatooine-style events in the distance?

Just my take on it ... iMO it seems to be somewhat "generic" for now !! Nothing particularly wrong with that ... just simply an observation !!

 

BTW... have you experienced any of the same items I've mentioned ?? Just curious !

Now that the Stronghold cap will be 20, please make the Felucia Stato personnel decoration cap 20?

If your aim is to have a vendor in each Stronghold, keep in mind that there are plenty of other vendors such as the Republic and Imperial medical droids, the Jawa scrap dealers, etc.

I want a decoration and Contraband Slot Machine coin vendor in my new strongholds.

 

If I go get a Felucia out of an existing stronghold, then I have to explore the whole stronghold and figure out which Personnel I've already used, so that I can replace her with a non-duplicate (which breaks immersion, etc.)

 

Some strongholds are big enough, you want vendors in multiple locations (IE: Rishi).

 

Seriously a pain.

I would also like to see an "interplanetary" vendor(s) that would cover the items we get from the assorted reputation / currency vendors. (ie: the decoration items available (through reputation only) on Ossus, Onderon or Ilum) .

 

(Frankly ... some times I forget what planet has which decos that I like the most !! ) :D:D:D
