Rakghoul Relic Change

Why would you change this? Now when you take the relic off, the vaccine buff goes away. Just trying to figure out the logic behind the decision. And also to gripe a bit about the loss of a bit if a quality of life extra feature.

That's annoying - still useful for leveling characters, though makes them useless for running leveled alts through the event or even just being out and about this week with the plague everywhere.

Maybe add a rep item that is a reusable vaccine and is legacy bound as an alternative to the relics.

Hey folks,

It is intended that if you are not wearing a relic that you lose it's on-use effect as noted, which includes the Antiviral Kit. However, we definitely understand this has gearing implications and so we are looking at ways to make the experience of the Antiviral Kit be less detrimental to your character's power where possible. We will share any updates as we have them and thank you for the feedback.

You can convert it to a reusable stim(vaccine) and without cooldown. Or covert is complicated, make it a new item that we can get exchanging our Antiviral kits.

its unnecessary hussle imo. either use it to save credits or sacrifice gigantic amount of stats for it. put the ability onto reusable stim - even if it was with legend reputation requirement and cost boatload of rakghoul event resources we would have the option to avoid those antiviral relics.

The change was not needed, they have always worked that way and have for years, it was a convenience item so you don't have to keep finding a vendor to buy the Rakghoul vaccines. Now they are an useless item only good for one fight that only occasionally is even available with the Rackghoul event.

And when you guys do stupid crap like this you always are "looking at ways to make it suck less" DO THAT PART BEFORE YOU CHANGE CRAP THAT DOESN'T NEED CHANGING!

This is wasted dev time that should have been spent on fixing some of the plethora of real problems in this game, like the horrible server performance in ops that leads to massively buggy encounters, or the broken Social bar that won't stay where you freaking put it that was taken out of the UI Editor for no reasonable reason. Or the terrible controls and settings for trying to manage Buffs/Debuffs as a healer. Or a Hood Toggle or literally anything that makes the game better. This change DOES NOT MAKE THE GAME BETTER. It feels like some busybody needs better management direction in the office.

I am so freaking frustrated with the development of this game, So many systems that could be massively improved with some seemingly minor tweaks, yet it feels like you add things, never improve them, then make annoying "fixes" like this.

Just replace the kit with a reusable Rakghoul Vaccine and be done with wasting time on it.

A re-usable vaccine tied to thorn rep (and not biochem like the others) sounds like a perfect solution to this problem, gives reason to do rak event reputation, and solves the problem of people not wanting to wear crappy subpar relics. Edited by Darthjantom

even when the event first came out those relics were crappy beyond belief. and they were never upgraded so guess what they feel like now.

+1 for reusable vaccine.

Maybe a biochem rec that creates a reuasble. Do not need biochem to use it though? Throw crafting a bone every once in a while.

Personally never bothered with the relics because they seemed like a hassle and it was easier to just keep one loadout. Not bothered by the relic change, but (especially given the timing) it would have been a good idea to have a replacement for the anti-viral kits. A reusable vaccine, as has been suggested by others, is a decent idea.

As long as it doesn't require biochem to use i think either a crafted schematic or a straight vendor buy would be fine, a THORN reputation requirement to use seems logical and fair however.

yup, just another stupid change no one asked for.

I would support any of the suggested ideas:

1) A new MK-whatever Antiviral Kit which is Item Rating 306

2) A Legendary reputation-associated re-usable Vaccine

3) A Legendary reputation-associated re-usable Vaccine crafted by Biochemists but doesn't require biochem to use. This could be a great use for some of those rakghoul material drops that we're not using.

4) Or even something we haven't thought of. We already have items that grant permanent abilities ... like the Macrobinocular and Seeker Droid items you get at the end of those quests, which when consumed grant you the abilities permanently. Perhaps something similar for this? A THORN reputation item that, when consumed, grants you the ability to apply the vaccine to yourself, which is instant and without a cooldown or energy requirement.

The goal is to have:

1) Something we can keybind or otherwise place in our toolbars to re-apply the vaccine during the applicable fights

2) Something that doesn't negatively affect our item rating

Or maybe just get rid of the stupid plague that annoying players can bring back to the fleet over and over to try to infect others, it serves no purpose in the game other than to be an annoyance, so just get rid of the damn thing.

That's all well and good, but BW should have had a replacement for the reuseable Antiviral Kit available before making the change. Especially when the change is made while the Rakghoul event is live. Keep it real: the stats on the Antiviral Kits have been irrelevant for quite some time; the kits were for vaccinating against the Rakghoul virus. BW has left players who do not want to get infected one choice: repeatedly purchase the 2k credits each 6 hour vaccine from a medical droid. That vaccine does not persist after defeat.

The Rakghoul event has never been universally popular. Some like it; some tolerate it; some loathe it. It is the one event that players have to pay credits in order to opt out of it (the Rakghoul vaccines, or suck it up and level enough T.H.O.R.N. rep to purchase the now nigh useless Antiviral kits). I don't think this is game breaking, however I do think it is a poorly thought out source of aggravation on BW's part.

BW, you broke it, you need to fix it quickly, not years from now. For a replacement/fix, I do not want something that permanently takes up a gear slot while in use. I like the idea of a reuseable Rakghoul vaccine like a reuseable medpack. Allow for trading in the current Antiviral kits for the new one. Please resist any urge to price it for 1 million+ credits. At the very least, have the 2k credits Rakghoul vaccine persist after defeat while working on a replacement for the Antiviral kits. And, make it possible for stacks in Cargo, Legacy storage, or Inventory of greater than 10 for the Rakghoul vaccines.

thorn has never been liked - BUT the original Rakghoul Pandemic on Tatooine was. that one was universally liked afaik. but they refused to bring that one back and gave us thorn instead. thats not even the second best out of two options. My problem with thorn is that its extremely confined - 1 quest in main base to cure infected people, 1 worldboss and then everything else is crammed into the tunnels. Original Rakghould Pandemic was spread out across whole planet on Tatooine. i still remember tracking pieces of a ship across whole desert to get my Crimson Rakling. but no. we get thorn instead.

It might be intended, but someone had work to change this, as it was not how it worked before and as had been said lots in this thread, makes the relics useless, just make a re-usable item via THORN rep...please....

This does not make the relic "useless", it simply means you have to keep it equipped for it to work - just like any other relic.

Yes, I know this means you have choose whether to use the Rakghoul relic or some other relic. Wah! Wah! Wah! 😪

If you really, really are concerned about that extra bit of crit or whatever, you'd get from some other relic, just use the vaccines from the vendor. It's not that hard a choice. 🙄
