Damage Amplifiers By Spec?

Is there a simple guide to which '+ damage' amplifier generally works best for each spec? Force Sensitivity is the obvious choice for Sage/Sorcerer non-healing specs, but most other specs are a mix or weapon and force/tech damage, so it can be hard to tell which you would be better off boosting...

You can scroll to the sections under each advanced class and look at the disciplines. Check the pinned messages for the latest recommendations.

For example, even though Vigilance Guardian/Vengeance Juggernaut is a DoT spec, it turns out that Armor Pen is still a better amplifier:

The source for these recommendations came from this google sheet, which is linked as a reference for many of these "Best in slot" recommendations:

The overview tab of that sheet shows that Armor Pen gives about a 5.04% damage increase overall and periodic intensity is only 4% with force sensitivity only 4.26%. My understanding is that, unlike some other DoT classes, there is still a fair bit of non-Internal/Elemental damage that guardians/juggernauts do, so armor pen improves enough of the baseline, especially since G/J have the sunder debuff available to them, so there is synergy there. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Heavily "white" damage classes, meaning ones whose attacks are mostly weapon-damage based (white flytext on the screen when you hit your targets) instead of force or tech based ("yellow" flytext on the screen), tend to benefit more from Weapon Expertise. However, armor penetration is often a great place to start if you don't have the BiS amplifier.

Thank you for the goggledoc link: That seems to be what I am looking for.

No, but it's nice to know if the amplifier on a new piece is actually an upgrade or not...

The amplifier is attached to the armoring, so wondering if the piece is an upgrade or not is mostly irrelevant.

Just extract the armoring if you need it, and slot it on the equipment you already have. (Provided you're at the 306 equipment stage because anything before then wont matter, just save the armorings for later).
