  1. Thanks. When I say a while, I mean since the game went free to play. I have no idea what the state of the game is now and I only had one character, my commando. I'll do a test play and see what your suggestion is like. EDIT: No, wait. I forgot to add, no Jedi/Sith. Something with a blaster.
  2. So, I've been away for some time and need some input. I've had two strokes and have arthritis. I like range, but I've done commando before. I'll be playing solo and need good survivability, DPS, and mobility, with as few buttons as possible. Any suggestions?
  3. I'm stuck on the Violent Uprising quest. It says "Go to fleet" and talk with Rigel. But there is nobody there. The purple marker indicates going to another fleet ship, which I did, and then do the instance. But there's no Rigel there either, just a droid offering the same instance. Did the instance, but still have the Violent Uprising quest. What do I do?
  4. I know! It's so annoying too. I have an Ancient Red in another weapon, and while Grav Round is pale red (almost pink), Hail of Bolts is freaking purple. What the heck? LOL
  5. Hot Orange in a lightsaber works as intended. Hot Orange in an assault cannon gives inconsistent coloring of the various abilities that make use it it. I put a Hot Orange in my cannon to match the coloring on my Monocycle and got the above results. The same goes for ALL crystals, whether single- or multi-colored. Please fix this.
  6. The funny thing is, none of the abilities that require the cannon are physically tied to a cannon. A rifle should be able to do the same thing. The abilities that SHOULD be affected are grenades. They way it's set up is that your cannon launches them, they aren't thrown. That much ordinance wouldn't fit on a rifle. But Hail of Bolts? Even a magazine gun, today, can do that. I'm with the core that say we should be able to use rifles without a DPS loss. So, they should either eliminate the dependencies, or switch them for more logical choices.
  7. I agree. I love my commando, but would really like the option of using a blaster rifle like a real stormtrooper.
  8. I know you are all hard at work getting 7.0 ready, but is there any chance of tossing in a black, with red detailing, customization option for the Probe Droid companion? I love this droid, and have him at rank 50, but would like him to match my marauders colors.
  9. Hey all, I was a founding player way back when but stopped playing due to a stroke. After so many years, I have returned. While I still have several high-level characters already, I will probably start over with a level one commando as many things have changed. So anyway, I'd thought I'd poke my head in and say hello!
  10. I am a father of six, mostly older kids. I have a wife, and maintain a house. I had a stroke a little over a year ago, so my reflexes aren't what they used to be. I play ToR because I like games and I like SW. When do I play? When I can, without compromising all the other things I have to do. I am not even sure 'casual' describes me. Perhaps 'consistently occasional'? I use PvP to help rehabilitate my reflexes and have a lot of fun doing it. I also enjoy a quick story-based quest or two before bed. Anyway, the point is, I read threads like this and just chuckle to myself about the whole thing and how wrapped up people get over games.
  11. Here are my thoughts on the differences between the originals and the prequels, which I believe are more basic reasons for the difference in success between them. The original movies had a lot a white in it. Even the interior of the death star and the star destroyers were replete with it. Not only were the storm troopers white, but the empire locations were more grayish than black. Vader stood out because he was the one constant black colored element. The original movies also had better, and more, characters: Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, 3PO, R2, Vader, Kenobi, Yoda, Lando, Jabba, the list goes on. Heck, we even grew to know the Falcon as a 'character'. And what's noticable is that they all had decent interaction with one another. They had dynamic relationships. The on-screen portayals were mostly light-hearted, even in the presence of bad circumstances. The original had better humor, like 3PO getting his head banged up while on Chewies back, and not able to do anything about it. That was funny. And you know what? 3PO and R2 were able to accomplish comic relief without actually doing anything but be there for situational elements, and of course Daniel's awesomely dry wit. They didn't have to TRY to be funny. The prequels were dark. Too much of it. Not just in mood, but in setting. It really detracted from any sense of darkness about a given character. They had fewer truly memorable characters: Kenobi, Anakin, Padme, Qui-Gon, Palpatine, Dooku, and yes, as much we hate him, JarJar. These characters also had very limited interaction, and with a more limited subset of the rest. Little to no humor was present. So much so that not even 3PO and R2 could save it. They had to use JarJar, which was so badly overdone, he lost all the humor he was supposed to create. I remember watching each movie as it came out, in the theaters, and again years later. To this day, I still cannot form an emotional attachment to Anakin as I did with Luke and company. The prequals were supposed to expand the current story by telling of things past, but to me, they just seemed to tell a non-related, loosely-associated story. Add to this everything posted previously...
  12. YES Despite common forum-based claims, the game is entirely playable and very enjoyable. And that's from the standpoint of somebody who has had a stroke and has limited motor skills! NOTE: Forgive me if I've replied before, be sure to check, as I cannot remember!
  13. Been playing my main since Dec 10th. He is now 42. I have a life and no, you should not feel inferior. Play at your own speed, and at whatever intervals fit your daily life. There is more in life to do than play a game. I type this as I sit waiting for my kids to finish waking up for school.
  14. Honestly, I think the reason so many people are up in arms isn't the bugs, the glitches, what they view as missing features, or anything else currently in game, or planned for subsequent release. The real problem was that they were so bored with everything else out there (and I'm not going to stoop to the level of citing any actual game) combined with the pre-release hype, that they were expecting something completely different from what they got. Part of this pre-release hype was BW's doing, but I think the greater portion was on the part of those entertainment hungry masses just frothing for something new. I *think* I can safely say that those of us who beta tested are stil around. After all, we knew what we were getting and are ok with it (otherwise we'd never have let it through). Though I could be wrong, I've been wrong before. In any case, I can't help but think the same would happen to any comparny in today's arena coming out with a new mmo. People need to learn to take a chill pill, especially with a companies first mmo. Citing other companies game feature and abilities isn't a valid point either because a lot of these companies aren't going to divulge how they achieved some of the things they've done. It is entirely fair to assume that a lot of what BW has done with TOR were things they had to learn from the ground up, despite using HeroEngine as a base. I love this game. Just my thoughts on this whole deal. Sincerely, a 41 year old developer (retired due to stroke) and player of games.
  15. Who drops these and has anybody gotten them? There in several databases, but I have yet to see them. I'm 41 and farming the instance solo. Are there better chances of dropping if I escort a group?
