    World PvP

Devs should really read all your ideas .. I agree with at least 99% as an old daoc player myself
  6. this post will be deleted in 5..........4...............3...............2..............1.....by bioware as they don't want to hear bad things about their game only the good ... it's a carebear feel
  7. Nothing wrong with the pvp system in Daoc .. they just need to make the UI friendlier. It's Old school .. Mythic should fix the UI and then all us pvpers or badies that you pve'ers say we are will go back to Daoc. then you won't hear us whining about the fail of pvp of all the new games released ..
  8. You played in the beginning, then quit I assume since you didn't see all the players you referred to above in wow. Well they must have come in after you left cause they are the reason Wow is turning into Pokemon with panda bears. It was also the reason Raiding became a walk through. So the players who had "limited time to play" could feel they achieved something in game as well. Oh the list goes on and on and on with whining but you will just have to go back and read those forums to understand better.
  9. Then I guess you never played it for too long cause Daoc did have the best pvp and still does. Only thing is the interface is so old, it makes your mind hurt thinking of going back to it. I know a number of players who would gladly leave their current game to go back to the Daoc system if they would redo the interface. Yes, the realms were under balanced at times. The one thing most players who are pvpers now days don't think about is Don't go into open battle alone cause you will be rolled. Take your friends and if you don't have friends, make some. This should be a life lesson. In a real battle I don't see soldiers running around the enemy territory trying to gank armies alone. They take am army to meet an army. As far as skill based, it was skill to pvp successfully. You worked at it till you got it right. If you expected to go into it and just win cause you had the best gear, the best spec; you'd lose. You had to be proactive to the point it hurt. Now days skill has nothing to do with winning. If your geared better then someone else you win. I knew players who didn't have the best of the best in gear and they would take out players who did. This was skill not gear. positional combat for melee was crap.. this is the worst statement i have heard in awhile. Positional combat was skill. Yes, it was hard to get behind some players, but there again is where skill comes in to play. You had to move fast. be aware and know how to play your toon. None of this stick, auto turn to the player stuff we have now. Talk about easy. There was skill behind jumping around a person, Moving fast and getting in behind for a awesome crippling blow or kill. I know we use to practice on each other in Daoc to learn to do it. Skill is all it took and if you didn't have that, well Yes, you lose! I knew stealthers who would sit all day long waiting for the perfect player to run/ride by and then nab em. These players didn't whine cause they didn't get every kill out there nor did they whine cause they couldn't take a full group down ..They were the eyes and ears of the realm. They were apperciated in pvp. Working as a team in games now seems hopeless since no one wants to actually do their job. They all want the kills, the badges, the glory. Find some real players from Daoc who ran as groups and who utlized all the classes and you have real pvpers. Otherwise your just stuck with the mememe Gen. I personally and I know alot of others who would love to go back to an updated system of Daoc PvP. However saying that I also know Mythic has no desire to update their system but if they did they would have alot of subs for their game. Even if they never gave the power font, heal fonts and such. But remember all three sides got these too so no one was better then the other players you went against. It was SKILL that won ya the realms. I pvp'ed the old Daoc world and had a complete blast killing and being killed. I respected the good players who took the time to learn how to move in a difficult play style and I always will since skill isn't really a factor in pvp it's all Gear, spec and easy mode movement. Trying playing old school for awhile and tell me there isn't more skill involved then there is now days.
  10. If ya want a timed warzone then yes, turn Ilum into that and then remake a new open world pvp. But to make Ilum a timed one then your just asking players to not care about pvp as much. You will find alot of players will quit playing as they are looking for PvP not more warzones. Bad enough that Ilum is an instance depending on the numbers out there. I find Ilum 1 to be busy but gawd help us all if you get stuck on Ilum 2 .. most of the time there is no one out there, so you end up waiting for Ilum 1 to open up (where the real action is). One side being over powered has always been an issue in any game but at least they are out there fighting. Battles are never won by a 1v1 so bringing friends to ilum helps alot . But if your under represented you will get your daily kills. It just takes patience. In reality they shouldn't even have dailies in the open pvp system. It promotes the mob mind set. A better way would be to give us bases to hold like Wintergrasp did but give the other side a reason to want those bases back. Like a added 5% ep for your faction, a 5% credit increase, or quests they can do as dailies that only open up when you own the main base. Realm ranks shoud also give somethign back like a new ability, that say can only be used in PvP and not PVE, this way you keep it from becoming an issue for the PvEers. Don't make them easy to get though. Also maybe a PvE dungeon that can only be opened up if you own Ilum. Something that if one faction owns bases and they are inside the dungeon and the opposite factions takes bases they players in the dungeon will have to be cleaned out .. Promote the PvP aspect for players to actually want to be fight to take control. Making it into another WZ isn't really keeping the Open pvp zones alive. Underpowered realms?? On this subject I do not believe any server is equal but they could cluster the area to allow the pvpers from other servers to join. say instead of both factions being clustered only the side that is short on players would benefit but in the end all servers would benefit from a system like this. Not to mention Hutball might be more interesting if you were not always fighting against your own realm. Just some thoughts though. Just hope Bioware fixes their PvP before they have no PvPers left to play their game anymore.
  11. Shameless bump on this post Although I have to say the mob mentality would come into play with the fact that being able to return fast would keep players in one area only. Not utilizing the area more. Here http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=2386172#post2386172 is another few great Ideas as well that I will share with you all some great ideas as well that should be implemented in the game
  12. R A G E guild leaders will be in attendance .. see you there
  13. Reducing the population on Ilum only stops players from pvping. Instead of decreasing you should be increasing. If your capping Ilum then your making it a warzone not an open pvp world.
  14. players who did it legitly, people who spends weeks trying to gain valor to the next ranking without using the bug to further their ranking will be the ones to really suffer over a roll back. A roll back means nothing if you already have the gear. A roll back will not punish the ones who used the bug to their advantage it will only punish the players liek yourself who did it legitly and worked hard at it. A better solution instead of a roll back should be thought up instead. Not sure if Bioware has the time ot go through all the logs to see which player took advantage of the bug. That might not be an option either as if they are busy looking at logs they won't be fixing other things that need fixing. Just saying a roll back will only hurt the ones that have been grinding out ranking legitly and not from a bug after a patch. I personally worked my hiney off for weeks to get rank 32, heard about the bug yesterday so didn't log in to take advantage of it personally cause I thought it was wrong. I don't want to lose allmy hard work cause a few players took advantage of a bug to gain levels in valor. Another solution is clearly needed just not a roll back
