  1. For FPS/heroics deception is probably better since you can thin out their numbers with quick kills, better DR and deception shines in skirmish types situations or against bosses that don't have much health like fp bosses. For ops, with few exceptions-like brontes-hatred is better.
  2. They keep clinging onto a post by BW, choosing to believe what they want to believe and closing their eyes to the truth. Probably, none of them worked at a big company before and don't understand how these decisions get made. You can explain it to them 100 times and they still will not believe it because they choose not to believe it. Sometimes, you just have to experience things for yourself to understand.
  3. At this point, we should just accept it and let it die. It is not coming back, no matter what BW/BS does at this point. No changes that people recommend here will do anything for PvP overall. It's time to let it go.
  4. Force bound and grit teeth destroyed warzones. Skanks would do incredible damage while living 5ever. Me on a op healer (worst healer in game) and skank friend defended a pylon from 7 average dps. It was made to help the darling juggs in garbage ranked, but destroyed everything else in the process.
  5. The population was decimated in 5.X and never recovered. Before that, it would've been possible if they developed cross server queues. But after 5.X it was pretty much over. 6.X population was nothing to brag about and definitely not enough to do anything you wanted. None of your ideas will bring people back at this point, not to the level you need to in order to support any ranked system. I personally think the only thing that might bring people back is if they use the amazon servers to create a "classic" swtor server, that has swtor as it was in the end of 1.X or 2.X. WoW did this to great success. It will bring back the people who loved playing in those times, it will bring back the nostalgia people, and a lot of newer players will go to the servers to see how it was like playing then. I think that would give enough of a population to support some sort of ranked, at least in the short term, then it will be up to BS if they can hold it. EDIT-I personally think it was lack of real playable content that drove off the players. There is just nothing to do in the game anymore.
  6. This is pretty much the problem. It always was the problem, it always will be the problem. None of the ideas presented here can work unless this problem is solved. And in some ways all of them can work if it is solved. If we had the player base we could easily maintain a ranked. BW would have an easy time balancing for arenas because they would be able to enforce the trinity. Queue pops would be relatively fast. Matchmaking would be an actual thing that works. ELO hell wouldn't exist. And windtrading would be much harder because of the different players everyone would get. But, we don't. And as long as we don't have it, your idea will not work (you admit it yourself), no ones idea will work, because the game doesn't have the population for it. Getting rid of ranked was the obvious decision.
  7. Yeah, I'm sure they said lots of things publicly that weren't true. If you ever worked in a corporation, you would know that it all starts and ends with money. If a product is generating money, or has the potential to generate money, it doesn't matter how many problems maintenance of the product is, it doesn't matter how much the employees hate it, it doesn't matter if it is an ancient piece of garbage that you have to pay one person 500,000 a year to maintain because he is literally the only one who knows how to do it (yes it is a real world example), a company will keep it around. If company is taking the time, and spending manpower to remove something, it means that is was a net drain on their profits and the company believed that it would lose less money by taking the time to remove it. BW is no exception to this rule. It's nice that you were, but the vast majority of people weren't. I would sometimes spend up to 7 hours on a saturday waiting for a pop and getting nothing. In 7.0 I had amazing ranked games with so many gold level good assassins, only to later find out they were all the same person. The queues were always the same people, give or take one or two players. That is the average experience unfortunately. And I don't think anyone is "happy" with the decision BW made or "in favor" of it, only that we understand it from their PoV as a company that has employees that need to keep their jobs.
  8. Zero resources? So BW wouldn't have to balance for it, QA for it, make rewards for it, distribute rewards for it, nothing? To you ranked was only season 14 and nothing else. to BW, who actually had skin in the game and had to spend a ton of money and manpower for it, it is an aggregate of all the seasons throughout the life cycle of ranked. they tried many different things, invested in many different things, none of them worked, so they decided to get rid of it. I don't know why you're so obsessed with season 14, BW likely gave up on ranked by then and was already getting ready to remove it then, that is if they weren't in the process of it already. As for death knell, I never thought it was that OP, and it doesn't matter how good it was or how bad it was, it was nerfed for PvP, not for PvE. And I don't know what other set you are talking about. Death knell was what everyone played. The other things they nerfed for sins was the ability to change tacs while in PvP-a pvp mostly solo ranked nerf, off guard lowering dps damage by half in pvp-a pvp mostly solo ranked nerf, and some damage nerfs because PT, ops and sorc were OP so using BW logic they nerfed sins (it makes sense if you just don't think about it). Yeah, in game chat isn't proof of anything. People say weird things all the time in chat. If BW confronted them, all they had to do was say they were joking or being sarcastic. You have to have a video of people actually cheating, or some strong documented evidence like the starforge document someone made. I had people tell me they were sick with rare diseases, on the run from the law, was a power lifter, was best friends with someone I knew and that perspn told me that he was never friends with or even heard of this guy. My default is to not believe anything I read in chats and you think BW should be banning paying customers for it? lol. YES, because ranked is more than just season 14. they spent YEARS, wasted a lot of money, destroyed class balance, all to try to get people to play it. People were not interested. End of story.
  9. Well you're wrong about #1. And no it's not. And nothing you said would get more people to play ranked. Your ideas fix nothing. The last 2 seasons huh, so we are just going to completely ignore the previous 12 seasons? They didn't care for whining on the forums probably, but when a person came up with a detailed report of starforge cheating with evidence, they took action, banned a lot of people and took away their rewards. LOLOLOLOL, are you serious? So you think trauma regulators, responsive safeguards, super kolto overload, enraged defense, grit teeth, power yield, removing knockdown from hidden strike, fixing wall banging, nerfing 3.X hatred sins below the ground while they were the worst spec in PvE, phase walk for snipers/sorcs, rocket out, nerfing death knell into the ground, neural dart were all made for PvE? Oh well if your eyes told you that, well that is a completely different story. Forgive me, I thought all the complaints were coming from people who played the game with their eyes closed. But ... just in case we have some wacky person in BW who thinks a simple report and a persons eyes aren't enough, maybe providing actual evidence, like a video will lead to better results. Like make unique rewards for participants like the mounts, the armors, weapons, the dark crystals? Like giving them mats to make ridiculously overpowered augments that you can sell for a ridiculous price? Like offering very high conquest points for ranked specifically? They tried many things, but people in general were never interested. We have literal video of people vote kicking new players from ranked, because the existing players believed they were "unworthy" or something, but yeah, none of that stuff happened.
  10. This is a terrible comparison and you know it. Keeping ops in GF, while pointless, doesn't cost them anything. Ranked required creating and maintaining seasons. They had to create and distribute rewards, and according to ben irving, unique mounts/skins were the most expensive things to create. They had to do the impossible job of balancing 4dps vs 4dps because one of the "poor darlings" kept getting focused, which was ruining the rest of the game based on the trinity. They had to police cheaters (which is much harder than you think). They had to constantly think of new (usually dumb) ways to incentivize people to play it. All of this for a game mode almost no one played and so many people cheated in while acting toxic to newcomers. EDIT- and just the icing on the cake, they would now have to change how ranking/leaderboards worked because of secondary (thirtiary in the future?) classes. The decision was pretty easy imo.
  11. Pretty much this, but the people on this board will never accept it. Also, I think you are thinking about 5.X when it comes to mats. People were farming mats for those horrible new augments.
  12. While I agree with everything you said, you haven't addressed the most important question for BS. How does this help the cartel market?
  13. I played blade and soul, the animation isn't impressive at all.
  14. It's a little funny, when BW took away Assassin's phasewalk, crushing darkness and force lightning and replaced it with trash like "maul with a CD" aka reaping strike and severing slash, no one really cared. It's only when your preferred class gets hit, that it's a real problem I guess.
