  1. "The Bane Alliance represents the unity of both Imperial Bane and Republic Bane located on Republic and Sith Empire respectively. We aim to provide the best experience community-wise for all members, whether new or old, and provide a rewarding experience in all of PvE Content within SWTOR. We are a Social guild that will run everything from low level quests, to end-game operations for the high levels." Republic Bane of The Bane Alliance is now recruiting level 50+ players for casual end-game (Ops etc.) which we are more than happy to guide you along if you have little to no experience in it. We have also recently started a Progression team that will begin with Tier 1 HM Ops like SnV and TFB. Aside from that, we actively run SM Ops at least three times a week as we help our guildies with gearing up and teaching the new guys the mechanics in Ops. You may contact me in-game via IZZEL or type "/who bane" and filter under Guild to find and whisper anyone from Republic Bane. For more info, visit: The Bane Alliance Website
  2. I'm looking to form a progression ops team to tackle the HM content for ops but intend to start with TFB and SnV HM before moving to DF/DP. Since I don't see any guilds doing them, are they really obsolete and it will be challenging to find people that wants to do them?
  3. I've dropped my plans for KDY levelling and went to do class story while queuing for normal FPs instead. But yeah the KDY problem is really saddening cause my guild has been looking forward to do KDY levelling together especially with our vast level differences and KDY not relying on traditional group roles for it. You know how excited they were when peeps start creating a thread in guild forums to assemble about 5 groups each for three time slots to spend time together. Yeah we could do it without 2xp, but I feel it's a mindset thing and knowing it doesn't apply to just the mobs in KDY is enough to hamper the spirit. IMO release another 2xp event but solely for KDY, of course this will result with more poorly geared 55s due to its bolster and not giving gear drops, but at least the KDY "victims" will be happier.
  4. I'm using Nvidia too but not too tech-savvy. So umm how do you do it?
  5. I'll just list those that I can remember. Sniper: Makeb Assault armor + Adept scout headgear + Max tac sniper rifle (The earpiece/mic fits well for a recon look) Merc: Full Despot armor dyed Primary orange to create Bumblebee look(Can't remember my blasters name lol) Sin: Concealed Bodysuit + Charged Interrogator headgear dyed primary black Jugg: The one you get at Classic Gear vendor + Ceremonial Headdress + Gree Saber (Dyed White/ Blue)
  6. I'm on my cell so I can't really view those links but anyway. 1) Mitigation > HP. While seeing high HP feels great, low mitigation can be very devastating to yourself and healers. So focus on raising your mitigation stats like Defense Rating, Shield and Absorb. You can refer to KeyboardNinja's Ideal Tank Stat Distribution guide to help you with knowing what stats to increase. 2) Maintaining your buffs is very important as a sin tank cause our base mitigation is our ultimate weakness. KBN's Stress-Free guide in the sin forums uses a rather simple yet effective rotation on how to do it. 3) Get the 4pc set bonus asap by doing SM55 ops for the unassembled arkanian sets, it helps alot with mitigation. 4) Companion-wise, I tend to run with a dps comp but I would assume the same for healing comp. Just keep him geared up and disable any attacking abilities he has. Since alacrity doesnt work for comps, stack power/surge and perhaps crit too. Hope it helps. (: EDIT: I use KBN's guides for stats distribution, gearing up and rotation. Dulfy's guide on his site is great as well for beginners for the gearing up.
  7. Having levelled 3 different tanks, this is my opinion of them. Juggernaut: Your typical MMO tank, very simple to play. Not much to watch out for other than the debuffs you put on bosses etc. Powertech: Pretty much the most "balanced" out of the three. Good aggro maintenance and good survivalibility. Assassin: Mitigation tank. Easily the weakest tank until you get those buffs up and maintain it, which arguably put it on par with jugg tanks and perhaps even PT tanks. Great aggro and utility such as stealth and giving bonus to healing. It became my main cause I find it interesting and incredibly fun to play once you get through the rather steep learning curve. Difficulty wise I would say Sin > PT > Jugg. Then again everything will be simple once you know how to play it the right way. (: Best wishes on your tanking journey!
  8. Note: I don't do HM55 ops, which means I only go for 72s, 78s and 69s set gears. Not planning to do em any time soon too. So here's my problem, I'm currently torn between a 69 set piece enhancement that gives out 58 end / 72 shield / 29 absorb, comparing it to the 72 equal that gives 79 / 74 / 14. Seeing as mitigation > HP, is it wise to trade off that 72 for 69 which results in "-21 end, -2 shield, +15 absorb"? And what bout 78s that give out 94 / 88 / 22? It's so much easier on dps/heals but them tank gearing really burns me out. ):
  9. I'm playing all 3 heals for PvE, so in my opinion for PvE: Operatives: Sustained healing through HotS, superb energy management, very mobile. Sorcs: Best at AoE heals, making them very useful in ops. And shields are always awesome when spike damage is incoming. Mercs: Best at single-target healing, more of a reactive healer compared to the other two. With the recent buff that lets you shell more than one person, it's one hella beast in the hands of someone who can handle the heat management issues well. For me, I love merc heals the most, even before the buff. (:
  10. Thanks for the replies, I've already changed into the 4pc set bonus after doing more research in the forums, so yeah according to what I've learned, it is better than even 78s non set pieces. (:
  11. 1) Assassin/Shadow Tank 2) Merc Heals 3) MM Sniper 1) I came to love my Sin tank after I decided to level her as a challenge since I've been hearing lots of nasty stuffs on sin tanks, and that they're "difficult" to play right. So I did some research in the forums, studied the skill tree and put what I learned into practice. It was getting tougher when I reached 50, all that buffs maintenance was getting to me until I found KBN's stress free guide that changed and corrected my mistakes. So yeah perhaps it was the rocky road I spent with her that made it to the top, but I find playing her a load of fun especially when you get into groups that openly despise sin tanks. This also made me changed my rather boring shadow dps into a tank too. (: 2) Started on merc heals with the same reason why I did on my Sin tank. Read alot on how to manage the heat issues and slowly mastered the class itself that topped the list over my Scound and Sorc heals, the latter feels too boring for my taste. And hey it feels great pumping heals into someone who just got spiked to like 20% HP and got healed to full in mere seconds by you alone. 3) My first toon, and also my main. The reason why he made it to the list is the simplicity of playing this class. I could eat sandwiches after sandwiches in boss fights with one hand and executing the rotation in the other. Combine that with great dps and the closest I can get to a Stormtrooper, he makes it to number 3. Other classes I've levelled to 50+: Scound heals, Jugg Tank, Sorc Heals, Combat Sent, Vang tank. So what are yours?
  12. When I started levelling a sin tank, all that was in my mind is to prove most of the people I met wrong, that we are the worst of the three tank classes. So I studied them common sin tanks mistakes, and reading alot in the skill tree and in the forums. Now it's my favourite class to play, and just deploying phase walks before and during boss fights earns me some thanks from them healers quite often. Felt funny though some don't even know what it is until I tell them it increases their heals.
  13. As stated in title, I currently have 72s head / gloves / legs / feet and a 78 chest. And I have unassembled ark sets for head, chest, legs and feet. Is it wise to trade what I have for them 69s so I can get the set bonus?
  14. Great guide. So I levelled a jugg tank which I pretty much enjoyed and had him geared in 72s/78s, and ditched levelling my vang tank at 51 cause I felt the fun factor was rather lacklustre for reasons I don't really know why. I decided to level up a Sin tank and see how it works for me, especially when I'm surrounded by peeps who deemed sin tanks as the worst of the three. It became my motivation the same way it made me main merc heals instead of the other two that I have. I felt very satisfied somewhat, I fell in love with how the tanking feels alot more alive and aggro is much easier to maintain IMO. But the higher I got, the less space I have in my quickbars and the more it kept my vision away from the fight to study procs and maintain them buffs. I got a little worried that I'm gonna lose interest in her fast until I came here and figured out I've been doing alot of mistakes. So yeap it relieved me of a rather heavy burden, made tanking alot simpler so I can return to hopping around tanking the way I enjoy doing it, and in process of gearing her for harder 55 content. So again, much appreciation for your work KBN. (: - Latte of The Harbinger, hop with me if you see me.
  15. Good thing I found this thread, have a few questions that needs answered. Am a sin tank levelling throught only FPs and class quests so yeah I'm always skipping adds. How do you explaing to the group that it's more beneficial to finish the FP fast than to do a full clear? I tried answering something like "Time vs XP ratio my friend" but apparently that doesn't impress the groups that follows the "kill adds more xp" mindset. Flashpoints experience boost, do they apply to the stuffs you kill in a flashpoint and/or the reward you get finishing a flashpoint? (E.g. Talking to Malgus via holocomm at the end applies to fp exp boost?)
