  1. Necroing this since ive made the exact same PvP TTK observations now as i made in 2021. Tanks have gotten better and people arent permanently running around with 50% DR buff anymore. PvP generally felt slightly better but the abnormously high TTK is still lurking ontop of everything and drains the fun out of it. Theres so much connected to this, you cant even spin map objectives or kill huttball carriers properly due to it. People just dont die. Take a look at early pvp footage and see what pvp environment these beautiful and innovative swtor pvp gamemodes were built upon.
  2. Imagine you have a clothes store and your goal is to bring back customers which were unsatisfied with your product and didnt visit your store again. Are you going to ask the only two happy customers who were regularly visiting your dead store for the last 4 years what went wrong and why everybody else left? The people who hated and quit SWTOR pvp is where you need to dig very deep. People leave beacuse theyre unsatisfied, not because they somehow categorically hate the game, they wouldnt have installed it then in the first place. They shouldve done this years ago instead of rolling with a very strange positivity propaganda, nice to see that they atleast put in some effort with a survey now.
  3. if you refer to "skill" as spamming your 6 button rotation over and over again, then you are right. every utility and ability in a classes toolkit was being utilized back then aswell, they just had to be way quicker and more careful with them. you cant react to burst anymore, you have to play proactive instead of reactive and predict bursts and cc´s or youre dead. this punishes bad timing and picking the wrong global cooldown for your circumstance way harder than with current ttk. heals have been way stronger aswell - a healer could burstheal you for 50-60% of your hp in a single global cooldown. just because the pace of pvp is way faster, there is not less skill involved, if anything, even more because one bad choice can lead to your death. let me give you an swtor example: immortal jugg pvp guides tell you to switch your guard on whoever currently gets bursted, to mitigate as much damage as you can for them. with the old swtor ttk there was no time to give anything to someone who already got bursted, you predict who gets bursted next via e.g. watching enemy movement or burst cooldowns or your mate is a cold corpse. now let me give you an example from another mmorpg, with a gigantic esports scene, retail WoW: their last big expansion reduced the overall TTK extremely hard because they saw how much people enjoyed pvp in the classic version of the game. this led to lots of players coming back to pvping not only in instanced pvp, but also it absoloutely revived worldpvp, because its just more fun to see a decent impact of each of your gcd´s. the esports scene enjoys this new meta aswell, because it doesnt unnecissarily draw out fights with inflated ttk anymore.
  4. and then the scary AP PT energy burst crit goes onto a healer with guard, splitting the 70k crit into half, effectively damaging the healing sorc for around 10% of his HP with a buildup burstability, spiced up by a 1min cooldown via a tactical ability? as i said in older versions of the game, a crit which did 25% of the enemy´s hp wasnt even a big crit. you cant even properly tunnel someone anymore, because dps dont hit hard anymore and a thousand defensives are being paired/chained. have a look at swtor 2.0 ttk: https://www.swtormovies.com/movieview.php?id=4359 pvp was wayyy faster paced and you could properly blow people up. fun times. better turn of the sound
  5. well nevermind i guess, i just found a video of someone playing with a 3080 and a 5800x cpu dipping below 35fps as well. ( ) the pvp in this game can be so much fun, its a shame that something like bad optimization destroys it for so many people, even with the most modern hardware out there. this really is unique, i honestly havent seen a game which runs like this. even medium populated mmorpg´s like black desert online, which doesnt have the best optimization as well still run with more than stable 60fps in 20vs20 fights with way higher graphical fidelity. i hope this gets fixed soon, until then i guess i wont buy a second subscription this time aswell
  6. hey guys, im running a ryzen 3800x (OC@4375 allcore), 1080ti, 32gb 3200 clockspeed ram and an ssd. i have dedicated about 50ish hours to fix this and tried about every fps fix i could find out there, none seem to get my fps over 20 in the middle of a fight. also i have an issue where my ping spikes to 1500-2000 for about 2-3 seconds in a 30second intervall while fighting. it really kinda seems strange altogether, other people hitting a stable 60fps in warzones with much lower specs than mine, im also seeming to be the only one with those pingspikes. swtor is enabled through my firewall and i currently have a 400mbps connection. am i missing something redicolously obvious here which fixes all my stuff? the pvp cant be this way for everybody since there are still alot of people playing it, has to be on my end doesnt it?
  7. exactly this, paired with the abundance of tanks spamming guard currently (imo due to having way overtuned damage for a tank, especially jugg/guard, resulting in redicolous overall player strength) and the abundance of damage mitigation CD´s it really isnt bursty at all anymore. Every dps i played in the last few weeks (PT, dpsjugg, marauder, sorc) hits like a wet noodle in comparison to not only other current mmorpg´s, but also in comparison to earlier days of swtor.
  8. the ttk in pvp feels really high right now, each heal/dpsgcd barely has any impact, this demotes quick reactive thinking and takes the fun out of it for me. [edit] watch this vengeance jugg having fun in 2.0 to get an idea of what im talking about. good times back in the old swtor pvp days, high damage and healing per gcd with meaningful defensive cd´s felt a hundred times better. what do you think, do you like the current ttk and overall state of swtor pvp? some other things really feel out of place for me, like a tank jugg/guard or tanks in general dealing comparative or in some cases even more damage than dps classes.
  9. tested it immediately in a warzone, now i have 30fps but the nameplates are almost comically big. unfortunately didnt help even a tiny bit. edit: i dont dip under 144 in the fleet with 30-40 players next to me or any kind of pve tho, i really dont get it. are warzone maps the issue? player headcount doesnt seem to be it.
  10. im already playing @ 1080p, i havent messed around with the nameplate scaling. ive noticed that the UI is heavily impacting the FPS when im turning it on and off for taking screenshots. youve gotten my hopes up! will test it in a few hours, thanks
  11. ive tried turning off shadows and running minimum settings. it works in pve but it doesnt in pvp. the framerate is just unbearable. as an almost pvp-exclusive player this is a complete dealbreaker for me. im pretty certain that a good chunk of mmorpg enthusiasts is just starting out this game with similar expectations. theyll be in for a rough awakening if they see their high end setup struggling to get constant 40fps, in pvp the framerate matters the most.
  12. please understand where im coming from, i really like this game and ive tried coming back for the third time. if i wouldnt care about this game i wouldnt bother to invest the time to write this thread. ive created my first character on releaseday. as i said ive tried coming back to this gorgeous mmorpg for the third time, and the third time i cant manage to keep playing for the same two major technical issues. these issues arent coming from my end here, ive had 4 different always high tier gaming PC setups and around 7 different gaming mice over these 9 years of swtor. to the point: -im getting 25-40 fps on a 1500€ machine on this almost ten year old game in pvp, after applying all fpsfixes and improvements that the community had to offer. -the camera is jumping occasionally (3-4 times/hr), switching my camera angle to redicolous places like the ground or straight into the wall, resultung in a total loss of orientation. your game can have as much quality and content as it wants, if the optimization and the polish of the game is that bad, its just a lost cause. with the steam release of this game, theres lots of exposure and a new chance to build an active community if you manage to fix this in time. cheers!
