  1. I always play female, since I greatly prefer playing my gender in an MMO (nothing against others who don't, it's just not comfortable for me). Body type is majority #2. Faces vary. Races vary, though currently mostly human/cyborg (those might as well be a single race IMO). I do have a Body type #1, since my IA is a scrawny lil thing. I do have a Body type #4, and it wasn't until that moment (years ago pre-Sprint) when I suddenly become mesmerized watching my Marauder run (due that sweet, sweet bum sway, most noticeable sans Sprint) that the old 'excuse' of 'if I have to watch a backside all day, I might as well play a female' made real sense to me. Yowza.
  2. My personal experience, take it as you will: I returned from the game less than a month ago after nearly a year long break. I hopped right into KotFE with my Powertech BH (who was only geared with what I'd gathered during solo play prior to my absence). I didn't spend extra effort raising influence with any follower. No gifts given, etc. I just played through the story, all the way through. (I would have liked to pause and do other things, but instant autoplay of the next chapter infuriatingly gave me no choice.) I haven't done Star Fortress at all. I didn't do extra Heroics for Alliance crates nor did I purchase more than 2 or 3. I've done some of the recruitments, but not all. I ended KotFE with Lana's influence level at 6, & Senya at 7. I think I died once, due to a mixture of being out of practice and not paying close enough attention to what was going on. Other than that, I had no real issue at any time.
  3. No more Death from Above? What?....the sole reason I actually made my BH (yes, it might be silly, but that was my reason), and my most loved loved skill? This really breaks my heart, and then you crush it by removing Flame Thrower. Ok, I'm wrecked, speechless, and feeling completely gut-punched now. Not looking forward to playing her once this goes live, or even KotET at all, as it stands now. Will have to see what Deadly Onslaught is like. But... my DFA... :(
  4. Agreed. I've always wanted to show my Dark Side ties, but I absolutely detest the 'I rubbed my face in a dirty ashtray' look. So many Dark Side NPCs are made to look fantastic, but players get a filthy ash smear? Ugh. At the very least, let me just show corruption via my eyes so I can actually display it, instead of having to turn it off to avoid the ashtray look. And the eyes! Oh, let us have good/proper eye coloration! Give something to the Light Siders, too, so they don't put up a clamor at being left out (maybe white/blue glow/eyes?), but please give us some improvement!
  5. Been here off and on since late Beta. Sadly I'm the only one of my group of friends who keeps getting sucked back in, but I enjoy my time here whenever I come back. I'm looking forward to KotFE now. Been registered to the forums since the month the forums opened... and I only remember that because years ago pre-launch, there was a kerfluffle about moving to launch forums and people worried they'd 'lose their spot' (thinking that BioWare would use when you signed up as the list for when you'd get early access), and I remember checking my User ID number then, because all I could remember was registering the first day registration opened and my curiosity was piqued (you know, 'oooh was I really one of the first?!)... and all I remember now is it was 4 digits long. ....And now my curiosity is piqued again and I'll probably mouse over my avatar when I post this, to see what number it actually is. Then I'll promptly forget again until something causes me to remember it.
  6. When every time I would close my eyes I would instantly see tetriminos falling. Prior to that severe Tetris issue that I developed on my little brother's Nintendo, I had been hooked on Super Breakout on his Atari. Thankfully he never minded sharing his games or playing them with his big sis! But as much fun as I had on those games, I always felt they were just silly fun time-consuming little things, and wouldn't have ever called myself a 'gamer' playing them. Then in the 80s my family got our first computer. Leisure Suit Larry, King's Quest, and Space Quest are the early games I remember the most... and then I discovered BBSes. There were other people through the computer and that just blew my mind with how amazing it was. I wasted a lot of time on those games and on BBSes and on games on them, but I really can't quantify those as being my 'I'm a gamer' moment, either. To answer 'when was the moment I knew I was a gamer', my answer has nothing to do with computers. I knew and gladly called myself a gamer when I was introduced to AD&D in 1988, and would stay up for nearly entire weekends playing through a scenario with my group. I was a gamer, and I loved (and still love) those kinds of games. I'm also an avid PC gamer, and even though for years now I have always subconsciously appended 'PC' (or 'console') whenever I see the word 'gamer' on its own, my own defining 'I'm a gamer' moment will always be rooted in tabletop RPGs. Yes this really shows my age, but I don't care. I've been enjoying gaming of all sorts for decades, and I will continue to enjoy it for decades to come.
  7. I'm rather newly returned to the game after not playing regularly since shortly before RotHC, so Strongholds are new to me. I'm also low on funds and stunningly low on decorations, of course, so my SH isn't listed. I have visited a few listed ones, however, and my jaw has dropped. Some of the Strongholds I saw were flat-out stunning, and made me a volatile mix of both envy (at the SH being decorated at a level I can't possibly compete at, being away from the game so long and a currently solo) and eagerness (at knowing that maybe I CAN someday achieve something similar). I wished I could 'sign a guest book' at some of the Strongholds I saw, commenting on the wonderful work put into it. Should I have sent a complimentary in-game mail to the owner? I know their SH was publicly listed, but I do still feel a bit awkward poking around in someone else's 'space'. Would any of you decorators appreciate a letter, or would that be awkward for you as well?
  8. Thank you all for the info. I came back to the game recently and was already subbed before I started noticing the links in people's signatures here on the forum. I checked the official 'Refer a Friend' page but wasn't certain that I, as a sub, would get anything, since the 'Refer a Friend' page mentions 'new players and previous subscribers' getting rewards, but nothing about current subscribers. I wish I could've gotten some credit for all the people I referred (via word-of-mouth) way back at the dawn of the game. I can't get any of them to come back now, they're all too busy with their own stuff.
  9. Thank you, filnov, for your rundown & the link. Very helpful.
  10. So- I'm not a new player, but I haven't played actively since right around RotHC and the server merges (which is what drove my guild away from the game). I came back shortly before 12x was announced because I just had an itching to finish up some class stories and check out the expansions (and boy has 12x been a boon for that!). Prior to my absence, I had 3 50s: Sorc, BH, Agent. Since coming back and the glory of 12x, I now have a 54 Jugg. Testing my old 50s, the BH still works pretty well (even better than my Jugg) but I'm having issues with the Sorc (she was a hybrid before the extreme class skill changes, and I'm rather lost with what I want to do with her). I don't need advice on burning to 50, as that's really not what I'm interested in... 12x does that pretty well on its own, if I don't feel like bothering with sub-50 planetary stories. My question is: what would be the best order to do 50+ planets in, and how to gear up for/with them? My guild's dead, as I was the last active player before I quit previously, so I don't really have anyone to ask for advice. I just feel really awkward stumbling around uncertain how to proceed. In my case, would the post-50 section of the OP be a reasonable guide to at least somewhat follow? At lest the general order of planets & gearing?
  11. As a Pyro Powertech, it varied between Torian & Mako, depending on the situation. My cyare or my best friend! I did play a bit with my other 2 companions and especially with Blizz, because he's just so much FUN (and adorable). (I do not count Skadge as a companion. I never wanted it, I never accepted it, it was forced upon me, and that thing is nothing more than a foul cancer I want nothing to do with and I want it off my ship via airlock in the most explosively messy way possible),
  12. I don't think the post was directed at you. I'm pretty sure chuixupu was talking about what you yourself were being sarcastic about. It's this forum's law, and all!
  13. Hrm. I'm female and I always play females (when given the option to choose my gender, I do, I just feel awkward if I don't). I don't normally romance females in games, though, despite being bi myself. I probably just haven't found the right pixelated girl yet! Well, if this game pulled a Dragon Age II and all romances were bi, and I could thus choose from any... My DS Marauder would SO hook up with DS Jaesa, keep Pierce as a FWB, and tag team Quinn with Jaesa for fun. Well, um, fun for the girls, great Dark Side Glee, but true and sheer torture for Quinn. Mua-ha-ha-HA. My LS Juggernaut has adopted Vette as her little sister, and thinks LS Jaesa is a bit too...energetically LS, so she's making googly eyes at Quinn. Poor dear. My Agent did flirt with the idea of hooking up with Kali, so maybe that would've actually happened had it gone anywhere. My Sorc only had eyes for Andronikos, though she would be just as likely to stay up all night talking history with Talos. I don't care much for Ashara, so would never contemplate romancing her. Torian is my BH's cyare and mhi solus tome, mhi solus dar'tome, mhi me'dinui an, mhi ba'juri verde. Yup, she's gone full Mando, but Mako is still her bestest friend EVER. I haven't played any Pubs aside from my Smuggler, and she thinks Corso is just too gosh darn adorable to look at anyone else, so I can't vote on any of their other female companions. I hope one day though that they'll expand on our current companions, and add more to them, and even add new companions. Companion story is close to player story, and that's the stuff I find most interesting in this game.
  14. I can't pick one in this game, because I don't care for restrictive roles. For me, in game after game after game, my preference is hybrid. Always and forever hybrids, or some kind of class with a wider spec than is typically found in what has become the 'holy trinity'. (Which I'm still wrapping my head around. When I started gaming, the trinity was healer/tank/crowd control, because dps was 'duh, that's what everyone else does, of course'.) I just love being a swiss army knife character, or having multiple roles I can perform, or being the dps who can also debuff or crowd control or emergency heal or something, so long as that something is actually used, useful, and needed- and it has to be in one spec, not split between multiple specs I have to switch between (since that's not actually 'hybrid'). I want to be something more than just-and-only 'dps' or 'tank' or 'heal', because, to me, that equals 'boredom'. I know, I know, I know, if you're a smart dps or tank or healer you should be anything BUT bored while you're doing your job, but I just can't help but wind up being bored of the limited (to me) skills I have. I've played to max a Madness (nope, Lightning! nope, split spec! nope, definitely Madness!) Sorcerer, a Pyrotech Powertech, a Medic Operative, a Sharpshooter Smuggler, and am nearly done with an Immortal Juggernaut. I couldn't pick one as my favorite, because I have to play more than one to prevent too much 'repetitiveness' feeling. Currently enjoying switching between the Operative & Juggernaut the most, but I think it's about time for the Smuggler to make a reappearance. Note: I'm not a PvPer (aside from those DAoC years), so the above is all with regards to PvE!
  15. Which is sad, because it's a damn fine game that did its best to break free of the cookie cutter mold that so many games seem to come from... but it seems players love the cookies, since even though there's a constant stream of complaints about cookie cutter games, many players are still stuffing their face on the very same cookies they're complaining about. Anyway, as to the OP... yeah. Dev interaction is important to me. It's one reason I kept playing- and paying for- City of Heroes from beta early 2004 through its F2P transition in 2011 and until its sad demise (despite its profitability) this past November. It's one reason I'm still playing the aforementioned Secret World. We all have our reasons for sticking with games, whether it be attachment to our characters, our guild, or just simply the enjoyment of the game itself. For me, however, even if all other reasons dim, if the devs are highly interactive, it keeps my interest in the game and often keeps me paying my sub even if I'm not playing much at all. Here, well, it looks like if my interest wanes, I won't have dev interaction to keep me involved, so it'll have to be something else, I suppose.
