  1. Xfire is a joke, who uses xfire? Where is TOR on their list? Not even top ten? Everyone is bored of TOR and it is totally dead then by your correlation?
  2. While it is an "older" statement, it was said and publicly that the game was a miss and nothing to write home about. That sounds poor. If the game was going good, or OK even, im sure they would have used other verbs or adjectives to describe the game. The new 250,000 to profit number you suggested is something I have never seen. Could you link ? I know they slashed the programmers and develops off the team for a second surprise layoff, but that just seems to indicate that they were not happy at all with the performance of the game.
  3. Anyone trying to indicate that the players are in any way responsible for the way the content was released is really stretching what even fanboys would accept as a possiblity. How many fans were involved in coding this patch? Sure, a piece of software will have some bugs, but lets take stock of what they added. 1 OP, player moods, and the funniest part is the shadow "optimizations" that seem to have caused a lot of problems. After 5 months time, you think they could have gotten this smoothed out? Im really curious to see how F2P and the associated content will launch. If nothing else, It should be hilarious.
  4. The game was new, and exclaimed that they would be releasing content regularly- monthly even, and never came through. Then, they decided to restructure the game, and all of the promised content was turned into pay to play, with the exception of a few areas that they will trickle out one by one at a stated "every 6 weeks". I think that is the point of contention. GW2 has an entirely different structure. You can go anywhere in the world at any time from start to finish and do content, as opposed to TOR you must follow the rails specifically, and any planet you have passed on the rails offers now offers no more challenge. And the game was made without relying "celebrety actors" on cutscenes for every single little quest, so the development time for new content should be significantly shorter. GW2 has yet to see their first content release post launch, we will see how that is handled in the upcoming weeks.
  5. I do not agree that they said it was not on rails. Or that they said the current space game is a place holder. They said it was a completely new pixel space, and revolutionary- given the track record of hype that excedes the end product by miles, a new pixel space could mean anything. Maybe they are working on a space project, though what good does it do to not confirm that indeed they are working on a new iteration of in game space flight? If it is slated far out in the games life, then sure that makes sense in some regard. Though it seems more detrimental. A lot of people who were interested in the game have already left, and unlike me probably do not check in to see if there are any updates. If they were to add space, they would have to put out a massive campaign of advertisement to let people know, and I do not think they have the commited funding at this point given the words that were used to describe the game by the suits.
  6. The majority of people posting are in favor of adding a space component, and looking for real quotes from devs to speculate over- no one here is claiming they have the definitive answer from a "birdie" insider. I want a 3d controllable space component, so your contention is misguided. If you could point me to some offical release that says the SSSP is off rails and immersive, I would gladly concede that my opinion and perception was wrong.
  7. It was probably removed because he was telling everyone he knew a developer that was telling him inside information. And then posted links to a star wars theme mod of the game he insisted would be similar to the SSSP. All he was doing was posting wishful thinking, and claiming it was fact.
  8. Very vague, and really could mean anything. Revolutionary you say? How about the first on rails space shooter with a story component? He could mean that they are putting guild capital ship in the outlying areas surrounding the fleets. Which would be an entirely different pixel space, but not that exciting really.
  9. Then no one will be able to log in !
  10. You have to be zoomed in very close to see any sort of facial feature, so yes it is a very very niche group of people that will be happy about this content. Maybe they will put it in the cartel shop for coins?
  11. I have never tried WOW. As someone looking at it from the outside, I see two disturbing things about the new expansion. Number 1: Wow - >Shark) - Pandas The panda expansion is clearly a jump the shark moment for that game. Its done, what could possibly come next? Number 2: Pandas, pokemon gameplay, farmville. To me it looks like blizzard is pandering to little kids to play the game to get them "hooked" and ready to sub to WoW 2 when they are older. It reminds me of cigarette companies that used to target kids with cartoon character advertisments.
  12. Who said the game is dead? There are enough die hards to keep it going. Its a star wars game, it will have followers regardless of how it plays or the content. But thats not what the discussion is here, stop being so negative. I think the poster who said the SSP may still be in development, but tenuously is likley correct. They are not releasing even the smallest detail, probably because if F2P does not generate a certain level of income, it could very well be nixxed.
  13. There was nothing wrong with the star wars fighting game.
  14. Link me to a transcript, I cannot find one, besides this Forbes write up that is really negative http://www.forbes.com/sites/carolpinchefsky/2012/08/15/what-star-wars-the-old-republic-gamescom-presentation-was-missing/ What did they say in the presentation? A vague, "yes we are still working on the super secret space project?"
