  1. I learned that one the hard way... was doing crafting and got booted off like 30 seconds after i had just done something... learned to make sure i walk around some.
  2. I got my CE last Thursday... its definitely a good job... though in the long run probably not worth the money.
  3. so instead of sitting in a 15 to 20 minute queue.. maybe an hour.. you'll sit in a week long self imposed queue.... cool!
  4. I say thanks to almost all of that too... I just don't get why you didn't do a single server farm to handle everyone so no separate servers to choose was needed... yeah it would take the same amount of hardware you have now, or more... and you could always add more... That and lack of a Mac version are the only things I don't like.
  5. it would be nice if they had set it up to have easy automatic server transfer selections... if they really have to do this multiple server thing... I still don't get why they didn't do a single server farm handling everyone and use a lot of instancing... maybe 2 one for PvP and one for PvE/RP
  6. hopefully new people aren't dumb enough to log on full servers and will start on new or light servers... Hopefully some day Bioware will get their act together and do a single (or dual for PVP) server system.
  7. This is why they shouldn't be using pre-1999 idea of different servers like that. There should be 1 "server" that everyone plays on. yes the actual hardware would be just as many physical machines as there are running every one of the current servers, but at least people could team up... who cares if a planet has 500 instances of it.. its loaded across 40 "servers" anyways, and guild people can meet up (no stupid 30 minute limit) to the right instance. Possibly have a PVP and a non PVP "server" but thats about it... of course making you play longer starting over.. or charging fees later on to move charactrs could mean more profit for Bioware...
  8. What is more users.... Windows, or both Windows and Mac? People assume it costs a fortune to make a Mac version when it just simply does not... Mac support for SWTOR has nothing to do with whether or not its profitable to do so... of course it is, or Bioware and EA wouldn't have released so many Mac games.... it comes down to personal bias in the management staff, as well as using a customized HeroEngine that was made for Windows only.... and that its been under development for a long time.. stated back when it was less sure of a good choice to go with a Mac version. They made a choice and stuck with it... and are in a good position to take a "wait and see" approach at the moment. If they do not actually release a Mac version in the next 6 to 12 months.. then I'd be more apt to believe its just stupidity on the part of decision makers at Bioware working on the game. Sure WoW had Mac support from day 1, but they also had a lot of very experienced Mac programmers on staff and Bioware does not... they pretty much only outsource ports, and most of their recent mac versions have been Cider ports (which is basically just running the Windows version anyways)
  9. Bubbles just help knowing easily who said what without having to try to match up names and characters... it shouldn't really appear in all situations.. like cutscenes and such. And of course it should be optional. I love chat bubbles.
  10. Why are people still so ignorant? Its nothing to do with if Macs are better than PCs or PCs are better than Macs... that is meaningless. Overall Marketshare is also meaningless... your counting markets that don't even have the game.. your counting business machines... your even counting kiosks and cash registers! Its simple... there are millions of people who play games on Macs... yes that is a tiny percentage of overall Mac users... but even steam has around 1.8 million ... WoW is supposed to have near a million themselves... This is not (PC) vs (Mac). Its (PC) vs (PC and Mac). They should have no problems, looking at other games... getting a 100,000 or more (maybe even more like 300k to 500k) which would totally cover the cost involved... which isn't as high as people are assuming it will be. Mac support is not in SWTOR (yet) not because of cost factors... its NOTHING to do with cost... they know it will be profitable. There are many reasons to wait for a Mac version, and there are many reasons to not tell anyone your waiting to do it... All of these Mac haters that come in here speaking complete foolishness with half-truths, outright lies, and worse... are just making themselves look bad.
  11. What is with all the negativity? Mac support will not hurt Windows players... why all the hate? We don't need to know your personal biases against companies and such, it doesn't matter. Even if you hate Apple... it doesn't matter... no matter the percentages.. it doesn't matter. The simple fact is, its easy to see they could get at least a few hundred thousands subscribers using macs, which would more than pay for itself... it would be EASILY profitable, meaning it would actually help Windows users too if Bioware is making more money. No matter what you think of Apple or Macs, a Mac client is better for EVERYONE playing the game. And the makers of HeroEngine have already done the OpenGL part... and are finishing up a Mac compatible client... it shouldn't be that much work to customize a version of this client to SWTOR modifications to work with SWTOR. Worst case, they can just write a native login/patcher, then have the Windows version run through Cider. They already have experience with this since EA and Bioware both have released several Cider ported games. The great part about Cider is... you still have the single Windows codebase (aka 'its much cheaper'), and the Mac users still use it like a normal app, they don't even have to know what Cider is or that its being used.
  12. I agree completely... But I was running in Parallels 7 in beta (yet to get in in early access), and pulling 30 - 40 FPS at 1680x1050 with bloom and shadows disabled, everything else at max... i gave 4gb of ram and 2 cpus and 512mb vram to Windows... not the default settings. EDIT: just got invited now.. so going to try again... :-P EDIT2: Performance is much worse now in Parallels than it was during beta... what did they do? eeek... first they broke Wine, then they made running in Parallels worse... i think they really hate Mac users.
  13. then when they didn't meet the schedule perfectly... you'd see even more whining than now... They invite people, but they don't know how many of the invites will actually log on, or when... they want to distribute them across servers and not all be on one... I think they might have just been playing it safe on the first day.
  14. I'm glad they are better for you, but you are not everyone... but I think you have little info or experience on Macs. Apple key maps to the same key as the Windows key... and technically its called the Command key. It was dropped as a modifier for right click many years ago when they mainly went to using Control... but beyond that Apple has used right clicks for what... like 10+ years? Your info seems like you don't know anything about Macs but like 15 years ago and are comparing 15+ year old Macs to your current Windows set up.
  15. I've met some families... where if they were mine I'd be happy to work on Christmas... but seriously, all MMOs have people who work 24/7/365.25 ... along with many other companies and web servers etc....
