  1. I am truly behind you in this. My postings where I have decided to close the account stronghold delete all my lvl 60 characters have come in for the usual Cry baby tactics, but Bio and EA have misjudged just how much attachment most of us have to our companions, who have been promoted , by maybe General Gazza, or I have taken the decision to take Elara Dorne As my officer over Aric, which took some thinking, knowing I was probably going to upset one of them. To say gear on companions didnt do anything is insane, If I didnt have endurance high and an endurance crystal Elara Dorne wouldnt be the healer with clout and endurance she had. In real life ,To many, who perhaps live alone, and not a social person, being able to laugh along with , albiet a virtual companion sharing time for many hours, bolstering each other, giving them gifts, listening sometimes to their worries or beliefs that they were proud to be part of havoc Squad, was in some ways a close tie emotional thing. gearing up, was almost a very personal thing and a joy to spend hard earned credits on, because how ever much hard core gamers dont think much about Companions, many of us were attached to them, and i know many who was a Corso fan who are now so depressed by how hes been stripped, many like me have left entirely, rather than play with a shadow of his former self. I put 3 years of money and millions of hours into this, being mentored by high ranking Guild members giving up there time and helping you choose the right gear for most companions you used. EA Bio have overlooked the connection, and as always have not taken into consideration the veterans who have kept them in business all this time, sadly I even gave up my security key, as for me the connections I had and the fun on tattooine hunting Siths of different level enemies is no longer, in effect , they have stripped away most of what made SWTOR the best storyline PVP action game ever. How can one get attached to a virtual companion one might ask? "well actually it was bioware that encouraged it, by being able to buy gifts to boost affection a bit at a time". "Did Bioware really think this whole thing through on an emotional level?, or was they purely acting as most devs do, to ruin an intuitive, compelling, & lasting attachment to a fully geared and splendid charactor. Did EA and Bio do this so that they can push Star Wars battlefront, so that people join that wholesale,? well they probably wrong , most feedbacks i got from the beta i played also was it was boring, just another BF4 which is basically just a shooter. The SWTOR companion infrastructure was an important component, that people could relate to, thats been taken away overnight, and I take no shame, in saying, I said goodbye to Each my companions, and saluting them for there courage and comradeship, and I dismissed each one with Honours, because they were part of me , part of Havoc Squad for 3 years, my extended family, and yes Im sad to let them go, but for me it is over, as is my £££££
  2. "what community manager"??!! "you expect me to talk?" "no mr subscriber i expect you to unsub due to our incompetence!!"
  3. I hate hate huttball so much, I just right click icon and go back and wait....for another scenerio, wish it did have a pass on going into that, much the same as the death match, best of 3............why is it at my level of 42 Im supposed to win when the other sides all have 53s, and my team has 52 down to 49, talk about balanced:mad:
  4. /signed............................. I seem to do more Warzones and Starfighters, than before, 60% pvp 40% story, But I also like to go hunting Siths as a level 60 on tattooine, now , as I read it, you wont be level 60 if you return to tattooine, they nerf you back to the planets base level, thus killing more PVP fun. Also Im really annoyed my companion Kaliyo has had her new 39 level blaster taken away along with a hi end crystal for power. I managed to take the crystal out, but now shes been left with no weapon at all....the only ones given was for some other companion I dont use. It means buying all my companions new weapons and hoping to extract their expertize pvp crystals. PLus all her mods. Some says go to GTM and get a cheap rifle or pistol and put crystal in that. But when I search from 35-42 for any ranged weapon for her, there is nothing..blank window, tried from level 1-42 again blank window. Since playing this 3 years, this is the worst update damage to inflict on a quite satisfactory MMO that was working perfectly I have ever seen. With battlefront beta and the release of it soon, they will lose a lot here I think to a blind BF4 type shoot em up, which 80% polled said battlefront was boring, maybe EA have bitten off more that can chew this time? maybe missing a whole lot of stuff , but dont so??
  5. I just watched this new Star Wars Battlefront Trailer, as always, the graphics wont be as good as being discernible from real life action, but seems to be forward in time from SWTOR, as shown by a fully fledged Darth Vader. it seems I wont be able to play this on my PS3, I cant afford a PS4, I much rather play it on my computer, but I dont think my specs are up to it. The computer did have a rebuild December 2014, it passes most tests, apart from my Radeon HD6570 2gig Graphic card, which comes up with a red cross. Does any one have the minimum specs to play this on line like SWTOR. My other question concerns, Are both these titles going to be played to their maximum audience? I like My SWTOR, So are we going to see this game fade away, or it still being kept on servers for as long as it remains profitable? Dont know why Origin EA need to make a second Star Wars game. I can see players been more drawn to the The Battlefront version, because it appears to have elements of the first 1977 films. Interestingly as I was watching the Blu ray of "A new hope", last night for a change, I noticed princess Leia's second name was Organa. I remember That Alderaan have a family or royal family called the Organa. So Im guessing, as Vader blew up her home planet Alderaan in "a new Hope", her line is Organa? Interesting! Who were her forbearers / family in SWTOR? Thanks for any comments
  6. Hi, Im a returning player, 12 months ago since I last played. been on it 3 weeks back and joined a really great guild, very patient with me being an old geriatric . I understand the OP concerns. I have now just past 55, with just Ilam to finish, But that sems to be a flash point.? My problem now arises, because I , gave up doing any group or flashpoints very early in this game, due to quite nasty comments which almost made me give up SW, I cant buy these so called level 55 gear, Classic, Elite, or basic, they need , not credits, but some other commendations, which I do not seem to have . My point is simple. I tend to be a lone player, with Elara Dorne, I do like normal war zones, dailies and weeklies, but, to be honest, I dont want to get involved with groups at all. So dont get me wrong, Im not crusty as such, I just prefer to play 95% of the time by myself. So, in short, to acquire 150 classic or basic 55 gear, am I to understand that my days as a lone mission taker on usual planets is over? I dont want to get into Flashpoints, so in essence , in my instance, is there no way of advancing as 55 vanguard without doing groups, which I just wont do, due to the amount of grief and insults I had when i was level 30. I didnt come here to get that sort of behaviour, I can get that any time in Second Life. My only option, would be to explore and make a new trooper character, a Commando, from level 1. I must have hundreds of normal war zones commendations, apart from hut ball which I dont play, simply because I just dont like it. Where I use all these commendations i dont know, they do not seem to be the same ones that the level 55 vendors want in exchange for gear, so Im in a bit of a pickle, on how to proceed now... I have heard that some players of 55 go and do lower level flashpoints on there own, this would certainly be a route, I would take if at all possible? Any advice helpful, cheers:)
  7. I have always prefer to have boots on the ground, than get dizzy, in zero gravity playing catch up. Im a returning player, and I think that the whole game is about as well rounded as it has ever been right now. I tried The new Fighter pilot Warzones, only put my foot in so far, but for a game that combines massive on foot game play plus normal space missions, plus now the chance to enter a better team space mission pvp, cant really complain for a few Quid a month sub?
  8. I was a terrible newbie on here 2 years ago, and in some ways I still am, was out of the game 11 months, but returned, with a whole lot of new stuff to learn, like star fighter combat and Strongholds. never done a flash point in my life, basically , because, the only one I did try doing, I got kicked of team for no good reason. Flashpoint leaders are not essentially bothered that you may be new to flash points, or that you may not be as strong as some, so they kick you out, rather like A prosecution team at a trial, They can or will reject certain jury members for one reason or another. So for me, I keep well away from flashpoints during my time here. can do without bully's who think they know all, but in fact no one tells me or someone else you got to go, just because you cant keep up. it dont bother me now, since Never did another flashpoint mission again, neither will I do groups, unless its my guilds group request ...most requests to join a group, is by just one person, who will take all, then when its finished spit you out, with not even a thank you. So , for me , that is the only downside, That I may be losing out in some credits and stuff by not doing flash points. All the rest is good My mentor Who guided me for some many months, taught me how to modify and armour items, when At level 20 I had no idea what they were until then. This is a fairly technical game, not on a par with Eve, which is what I would call hard core, but learning about Mods, enhancements and armouring, is very important. many newcomers get taken in there first hours, to a modification station. I found that to be totally useless to me just beginning, so much in fact That I never have used it. Most clothes you will get or even new generators or weapons you gain from mission, or mission ends, will normally be better than what your currently carrying, but Most do not have any form of altering of it , hence I tended to go to the GTN, or the planet commendation vendors. You can go to a GTN and look into modifications, most items will have 3...........one is armouring, second is Mod, third is Enhancement. The different colours are primarily about how good they are.. A level 30 green Armour plate, is going to be less effective than a blue or purple one, But green quality items should no be written off too quickly, Dont forget, you have companions, the main one you tend to take on missions with you, also needs to be up near your own level of power and endurance. You can get a blue modification, to replace the green, but dont sell it right away, Open your companions window and see what he or she is wearing, your redundant green mod, may well go into a slot thats open in one of his of hers items, as some clothes and objects, do come "Open" meaning that all slots in item are available for modding. Also dont forget to do daily war zones, a good source of early income, along with the weekly war Zone events. Im new to Starfighter zone, having been out of STW for many months, but its still worth joining in a group, you will still earn reputation and credits, and start to upgrade parts of your new ship. "Stay Alive and good luck out there"!
  9. TBH, I dont see the point of this at all? This is not BF4:eek: Its a story of, like me of a lowly level 1 Trooper, 2 years ago, trying to understand the game, and then start the journey. To my mind trying to get to 55 in such a short time, is like watching the First Lord of the Rings trilogy, and fast forwarding the other two to come to the ending of "return of the King". Although I have been away from the game a long time, I recently came back and completed The Trooper Story at level 49. Makeb I was given the chance of, but at level 47, I no way had the armour or fire power to defeat 3 level 50-55 NPC's, and both myself and Elara, have been regularly refitted almost every day since, most items being level 48-49, and Mods inserted in items when I could afford them, as some were 36k to buy for purple quality. This is supposed to be a journey like the real Star wars, Not a race:confused: Most newcomers I dont think could possibly get to level 25 in 10 hours even?? Did you start level 1 as a new none experienced player, like me, ? or are you already a veteran player?? I cant see how you could possibly understand the mechanics of this game to finish 55 levels in 10 hours, unless your an already established player, putting out a new character, and using already known expertise.
  10. Interesting, but impossible, but you can do what I did, RP one of your characters, being, say a Sith, and calling it your disguised Republic trooper as a spy infiltrating the Empire, but as far as, what you want to do, no, the two factions are entirely separate. You can see my signature below as a Spy, but not done a lot with the other characters yet, as just returned back after a long absence. Enjoy!
  11. Heroics are bad ***, but also great fun and rewarding, both credit and xp wise. In the early stages of your career, most heroic missions will need at least 4 members to finish it. But as you extend your levelling, you will find, as long as you are also, building your main companions gear to roughly the same level as you, you will be able to do Heroics on your own. One such place is Tatooine, as long as your about 8 levels or more above the planets rating, most Tatooine heriocs are do-able without much trouble. Your most common problem is going to roaming cloaked hi- level siths, if your republic, camping out and jumping on unsuspecting players. heroics are also quite extended, maybe going through a few phases to get to a finish line or boss. Shared Heroics is a blessing and a curse sometimes, try to join a group that is not hustling to much towards you, any group worth its salt will help out newcomers to heroics, as will your guild members if you are in one. Dont be afraid to turn down group invites, usually only 5/10 have any interest in you, unless you are good, some will drop you soon after, dont be put off, I made some friends from the odd groups I joined in with. warzone play, is a good place to hone your skills and co-op combat skills, DAILY tasks of this can be found at the Fleet stations,(combat gear area) along with a weekly event as well.
  12. yes welcome back, I too, am a returning player from about 2 years ago, My computer is 5 years old now, but although it has a basic dual core processor, it does have 6gig ram now, and a Radeon HD 6570 graphics,I installed 16 months ago, which im really impressed with its performance, on most of my online games, including Second Life, which is very memory and power hungry. Funny how some computers just dont like some games? Starfighter is something i havent looked at yet, I came back at level 46 last week, and im Now in 49, and working to get to the magic 50, That was only a dream when I first played this. i have a certain Guild master and friend to thank for spending much time and effort and showing me just how modifications actually work and how you fit them, hes name is Spoemaster, and did help many others too in my days as a very green trooper, finding my way around planets, rather like "Jake Sully", pointing a rifle, but not sure what I was pointing at:rolleyes: Schools still out on strongholds, think I will probably buy a better star fighter and do some work on that, as I still have 2600 cartel coins, from last time, together with complimentary 500 for renewing sub, than decorate, I can do that on other platforms......Hope you enjoy being back :)
  13. Edzew has the right approach, and like him, I have enjoyed, the game, in fact getting very intense for me in Havoc Squad at half way through level 48. At 50, I will probably be in Tatooine , giving some payback to bully Siths, who gank level 28 players, who have no hope of defending themselves, as they did to me when I was mere level 30! sadly over a decade now along with DRM, and game companies, especially EA, and in fact Rockstar, who put out the grossly underdeveloped GTA5 multi player launch, have not much interest with players concerns or wish lists, its just profit to them, usually rushed out without offering maybe a sandbox, where players can try a new content, like a demo Stronghold, and then give feedback, to address features that players would like to see or have changed, before its gone mainstream into game. We are just slaves, especially to PC games now, where almost any game is no longer a stand alone product. I would like to try several simulators, but they all require personal details and your life history, plus a client like Steam before You can actually use something you bought. If you have no Internet connection, then literally your screwed. In fact in many US towns, in difficult terrain, away from major cities, Internet access is still very hit or miss, and for them fibre optic speed, like I have in the UK provided by Virgin media, is only a dream for them. But I do find the Cartel market , for me has changed since I was last here, I used to treat myself to cartel packs, rare items, some xp, speeder access, companion gifts etc..... These packs seemed to have disappeared, apart from the newcomers pack. Nearly every other pack is stonghold decorating packs and im not about to give hard currency, for something I will probably never use, because of its obvious limitations.?
  14. @Edzew says about placing items where you want to, But this will almost impossible to achieve without asset servers, and the space the stronghold is in would have to be on a separate grid, but then you would need a proper interface, much like a second life viewer, (Phoenix, Singularity etc) to achieve, actually clicking on a chair and moving it using the mouse held down dragged across the floor. The actual furniture and decorations, I don't think are actual objects, as in (mesh) made 3D object, thats been enabled to be moved at will, hence the hooks. If the objects were physical, then you would be able to move them around, my guess is they are not, much like speeders, that disappear as soon as you get off one, in Second life, a speeder being physical, and scripted would remain on the grid as an physical object, that you can get on and off at will. The real problem here, is Bioware has meddled with virtual living space, on a very low level, that to be more sophisticated than it is, is beyond the capabilities of a server side browser style game, to even come close to peoples expectations, to interacting with own home / hide out. If the game was changed to a Client based, as in SL, then there are more technical opportunity to do better, but that would mean redesigning the whole games concept and infrastructure, which isn't really a realistic idea, being the main format of this game is a shooter MMORG with some social aspects, and a small degree of individualism with, just having your place to chill, and spend A few coins on decorating one or two rooms, Also let us not forget, this is not an infinite world like SL is. Star wars is based on levels, Once you got to 55, done this done that, where do you go after that? This is not a roaming game, where you can keep your stronghold, and go of to to another part of Star wars, go flying, sailing, or visiting other places such as Pandora (Avatar combat world), within the game itself.
  15. I share the frustration of pods and mounts in Fleet HQs. These alone probably account for 50% or more of the lag. On the other hand, running around a large station to various vendors and back up to the hangers takes time. Better idea is to ban speeders, and put TP pads outside each classes hanger doors. When Clicked, a menu could arise, with where you want to visit, trainer, commendations, GTM, or crew skills, or Catana. Theres nothing worse than using A GTM, with a an orgre on a great big pod hogging the panel!! Coruscant doesnt allow Mounts within its main building, so high time fleet HQ's were made same but with ways to get around vendors as mentioned above.
