  1. /Signed. All good ideas that would be fun to see. I'm quite happy about the recent attention to GSF, and anything from the devs is welcome at this point. I'm definitely one of those players who primarily plays SWTOR for GSF these days. It's the only thing I still love doing between new content updates.
  2. I wasn't referring to people dropping out of a match, I can definitely understand that. I was responding to the suggestion that everyone should just sit at their spawn point and refuse to do anything. In that situation, people should absolutely either drop out of the match, or not queue at all. Sitting there refusing to do anything would not help anything, and only serve to waste time and tie up the queue for no reason. What I think has nothing to do with it. And "to be honest" your insistence on turning every thread into a personal attack one someone is what is really immature, and it is getting old really fast. I've told you before that I respect you and your opinions, is it really to much to expect the same in return?
  3. If you're just going to refuse to play, then why queue for GSF at all? The best solution for all is still to try to improve, and help others to do the same. Refusing to participate is just childish, and wastes everyone's time. There will always be matches that are brutal losses, that can't be helped, but you can still learn from even the worst roflstop.
  4. @OP: What exactly are you hoping to accomplish with an abrasive rage thread? If there is a problem with server hopping premades, and they are indeed the kind of jerks you say they are, then surely raging on the forums about them only gives them the satisfaction of knowing that they got under your skin. In any case, you must know that there is nothing you or any of us can do about groups of good players wrecking noobs. That's just the nature of the game. The only real constructive thing that can be done is to try and help new players learn as much as they can. As you pointed out, many new players simply don't bother to go looking for the resources that are out there to help them learn, so why not mention it to them in chat before a match? There are plenty of forum guides and twitch streamers out there, and Despon's GSF School youtube channel is one of the best resources that there is for pilots of all skill levels (calling him part of the problem, and ignoring him is completely absurd). At the very least invite them to /cjoin gsf, and group up with those who are willing, to give them some pointers. TLDR: Raging about good players accomplishes nothing, helping bad players get better benefits everyone.
  5. He considers himself a strike ace. Kind of like Krix with the T2 GS. Just go with it.
  6. Not at all You win some, you lose some, that's far from the only match I've lost due to being stuck on a team that didn't know what it was doing. Loses in general really don't bother me to be honest. I do find it both sad and hilarious though that you felt it necessary to switch factions afterwards and whisper me to brag about the fact that you wrecked a team full of noobs with your T1 strike, as if that were some big accomplishment lol. As I said, I really don't care. Your sense of self importance clearly comes from your own issues, and is none of my business. Try to keep in mind though that this is a computer game. In any case, let's not hijack another thread to argue about whose ego has been threatened. Appologies to the OP for getting off topic.
  7. I think one thing pretty much everyone would agree on is that GSF really needs a better tutorial or training mission of some sort. Even just adding in the ability to try out different ships and components/builds in the existing tutorial level would be a big improvement for helping new players, and would probably be the easiest option for the devs to implement out of the many ideas that have bees suggested by the community over the years.
  8. lol, you really need to get over yourself dude, no one's impressed. Back on topic, great idea. It's been a while since the last strike night. Sadly I'll be working that night, but I'll hopefully make the next one. I do love the opportunity to dust off the old pike. Of course my favourite looking ship in the game also has to be the worst ship in the game.
  9. It's also worth pointing out that a BLC/cluster scout has to be in pretty close range to be fully effective. A strike with HLC's and concussion missiles or protorps can hit from much farther away if upgraded right, and do a considerable amount of damage that way. The only problem there is that gunships can hit hard from way farther away than any strike build, thus neutralizing any advantage that range would otherwise have given the strike class. Regardless of what ship you're flying, if you let a battlescout (or any ship for that matter) get clos enough to unload on you, it's your own fault for not paying attention to your surroundings. Situational awareness is one of, if not the most important parts of GSF.
  10. Well, it would have to be someone that has been a part of (or at leas associated with) your alliance as part of the KOTFE/KOTET storyline, as it would have to be someone common to all players regardless of class or faction. I think it's pretty safe to rule out Lana and Theron, since they are the main story tools that the devs use for the 'one story for all classes' approach these days. We can also rule out any character that as had the option or possibility of being killed during KOTFE or KOTET, since it needs to be someone that is still alive for every player, regardless of the story choices they may have made. That would include Koth, Scorpio, Senya, Arcann, Jorgan, Kaliyo, Vette, Torian, Quinn, (and any others I may be forgetting). By the same logic, it can't be either Malcom or Acina either, based on what happens during the Iokath story line. And it can't be any companion that we got through an alliance alert mission, since not every player will have done them all. That really doesn't leave many options. Hylo, Sana Rae, Aygo, Gault, Tora (or perhaps another member of Koth's crew). I think it's safe to rule out T7, the ship droids, and Dr. Oggurobb lol. I can't really see it being Aygo personally, and Gault's horn wouldn't fit under that hood. Betrayal like that doesn't really fit with Hylo's character. Maybe Sana Rea is following some vision she had? Or Tora had some ulterior motive? That's all I can come up with right now.
  11. No one will try to deny that GSF has a ridiculously steep learning curve, and that the in game tutorial is a complete waste of pixels. However, there is such an open and helpful community in GSF that will gladly take new pilots into the fold and show them the ropes. The GSF forum has some great resources and links, and if you don't feel like doing the research, just /cjoin GSF and ask a few questions. Also, consider moving to a more populated server if queue pops are slow on yours. I think a big part of the problem is that GSF is essentially a completely different game from the rest of SWTOR. Players who are used to being quite good at regular PVE and ground PVP queue up for GSF for the first time, and are reduced to being total noobs again. The resulting ego bruising leads them to complain on the forums about how horribly broken this game mode is. The simplest solution is to temper your expectations, and go in prepared to have you rear end repeatedly handed to you. When I first started flying, I had no illusions about how terrible I would be, so I wasn't too disappointed when I was. That way I was able to just fly, and enjoy myself. Then I looked up a few guides, made a few upgrades, and I was contributing before I knew it. Learning which ships to get and upgrade, which upgrades and crewmembers to choose, and how and when to fly them is the most important step. Unfortunately none of that is mentioned anywhere in game, but fortunately the community has long since figured out all the details of the GSF meta, and it has remained unchanged for years (one of the upsides of the devs ignoring it I suppose). All of that information is readily available if you look or ask for it. Ship upgrades are not as big of a factor as you might think. Picking the right ships and components and getting a feel for the game modes and controls is far more important. In GSF, skill is a way bigger factor than gear. I've seen aces in stock, non-meta, ships completely wreck inexperienced pilots who have all the right upgrades and ships. A fantastic resource is Despon's GSF School channel on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWTo5N9w5J_9OeqCvKfWMbQ If you want to get better at GSF, it's one of the best places to start. As for making your hanger legacy wide, while it may sound like a great option at first, it may not be as good as it sounds. New players still have to start from scratch regardless, players who already have different GSF characters will be faced with the dilemma of which set of ships will overwrite the others, and veteran pilots could start new toons with fully mastered meta ships. As it stands now, when an experienced player starts a new character, they are stuck starting off with the same horrible starter options that everyone else gets. Just something to consider. It is sad that the devs pay so little attention to GSF, but if you want to learn the ropes, there is no better community in SWTOR.
  12. Lol Dainan, I killed you 1v1 just the other morning, despite the fact that every time you were nearing death you just ran away to take cover behind your teams gunship fire. Once we were away from the interference of teammates, you could barely land a shot on me, and to be fare I'm really only an intermediate GSF pilot.
  13. Get a Desert Green crystal off the GTN. They're based on Like Skywalker's lightsaber color from Return of the Jedi, and I think they're the best green crystals in the game. They usually aren't too expensive on the GTN either.
  14. I feel compelled to point out that the devs never read the GSF forum. If you want to address BioWare, and not the GSF player base, you should submit a bug report and PM Eric Musco. There have been some exploits, and exploiters, in GSF recently that the community has been trying to get addressed by the devs, and they have had a great deal of hard evidence. Even so, it doesn't appear that anything has been done about it. So, a vague thread in this forum is certainly not going to accomplish anything.
  15. It's been nice to have more incentives for people to play GSF lately, but unfortunately it has come with it's drawbacks as well. Perhaps if we can get the devs to address the cheaters, they may actually give GSF some attention while they're at it (hey, I can dream right?).
