  1. Add a mechanic / debuff - if affected by "Enemy Damage" prevents suicide for - 60 seconds, timer refreshes when damage taken.
  2. 100% Agree, I was just about to suggest something similar and found this on a search. Just like vanquishing an NPC through successful combat grants conquest points it should also grant companion influence based on the difficulty of the enemy. Bonds between the hero and companion would strengthen when faced with dangers and hardship (combat). It would promote the use of different companions and allow for an organic / natural affinity. I'm not sure why this wasn't part of the initial influence system.
  3. Hmm, coming in a little hostile there chief. It's free. As in completely free, like free beer and encrypted with a password you create. Authy has been around for a while and has quite a few security recommendations, do a little research maybe? I didn't say it was the only app that could do it, but it runs on windows, ios, android for sure - I don't really have a need to run it on raspbian, but I'm sure it probably would and I bet that covers 90+% of the real world use cases and 100% of the swtor security app users. I was sharing the info because I was looking for something better than the swtor security key app or a physical key i need to have on me. I'm not a special snowflake unique in my wants and desires so I figured other people might be interested in my success using this app. If you can't be responsible enough to encrypt your database with a password other than "password" then by all means please don't use this application. I'm not sure why you are butt hurt from someone sharing some info, perhaps you have developed an inferior product and you're upset I didn't try to use it and share that experience instead? Take a look inside and try to find out where that anger is coming from, maybe let it go, you'll live longer and happier, promise. If you haven't heard of Authy it's because you don't pay attention to the application space it's in. Been around for a while. https://www.pcmag.com/review/333386/twilio-authy https://krebsonsecurity.com/?s=authy https://blog.cloudflare.com/choosing-a-two-factor-authentication-system/ Over 1,000,000 installs on google play store and 18+K reviews Sorry Apple folks, I don't care enough about those numbers to get them for you. So, with that out of the way Authy doesn't need some SWTOR shlub plugging their app for them. It works. It worked for me. It will work for you too if you care. What *I* personally like about Authy over something like Google Authenticator is I can switch devices (upgrade my phone) and I don't have to remove my OTP setup and re-enroll my new phone for every service. OR, god forbid, my phone is rendered unserviceable and I have to go through a recovery process for all my 2FA enrolled accounts. Are there risks with a cloud based solution? Sure but it's an encrypted backup encoded with a password you chose. There's a risk associated to using the web broswer you're on now to read this post, but you've accepted that risk in favor of the reward it brings you, the same is true in this case. Accept the risk or do not. Matters to me it does not.
  4. Hey I'm not sure if this has been covered anywhere but I just wanted everyone to know you can use AUTHY as your SWTOR account security token. Why is this cool? Authy runs on almost any platform. Authy can backup your keys and restore from an encrypted cloud repository. You can electronically maintain keys for more than one account. How to do it? Download the Authy App if you don't already have it. Run through the setup wizard and create an account to backup your database. Login to your SWTOR account and add a security key (you will need to remove any existing one first) When setting up your key take the Serial Number and put it into the Authy app. Choose a 6 digit code. Validate that code in the SWTOR account setup page. Name the Authy Account something you can recognize. "SWTOR:DisplayName" or something. Enjoy, wont you?
  5. Like EA stole my name from me? I didn't decide to close my server, it was randomly selected. The same courtesy should have been afforded my name selection. The person on my destination server has no more right to the name than I had. I actually took the day off work to ensure I had the same name I used through beta. It's important to me and should have been treated as such. 25 black hole coms and a lame *** pet? Seriously? Ooooh so i don't have to grind a few dailies.... big deal, I'd rather have my name. Also, there's been a lot of posting about "BioWare." I've supported BioWare since Baldur's Gate, it's very clearly EA now, much like the sundering of Westwood.... so falls a Giant.
  6. A better way to handle server consolidation and forced name changes. Personally, I'd rather not play at all then have to change my character's name. I'm a beta player. I pre-ordered. I like many others have stuck with the game when many a large portion of players have left. I do this because I believe in the vision and have fun leveling the different classes. However, I believe this kind of loyalty should be rewarded not punished. Case: Player Forced Transfer - Name Exists on Target Server - Existing Character Inactive If the character name exists on a target transfer server but the account is inactive I believe the active player character name should have precedence and the other character should have to choose a new name if they re-activate. Case: Player Forced Transfer - Name Exists on Target Server - Existing Character Active If both players are active the name should be given to the player that created their character first (Creation time-stamp) regardless of the server. Guild Renames: Guild renames should be at the minimum a lottery based on active players. Say the merging servers both have a guild with the same name. The source server is transferring 10 active players and the target server has 20 active players. The source server guild was created on Day 0 of SWTOR while the target server's guild was created two weeks later. If not granted rights based on original creation time-stamp (This should be the preference IMHO) at least grant a roll from 1-30 to the merging guild. If they roll 21-30 (1/3) they get the rights to the guild name, otherwise the target guild retains the name. Source guild chances for name rights = source active / (target active + source active) Target guild chances for name rights = target active / (target active + source active) The above methods are fair based on tenure in SWTOR and game activity. Arbitrarily closing random servers and saying tough luck to loyal customers is draconian and shows no forethought to the process. In many cases our servers were chosen for us from pre-loading our guilds. This should definitely have been handled differently, there are many other ways to introduce a modicum of fairness in this process, these are but a few. But, hey free-to-play is around the corner, you probably don't care anyway. Rest in Peace BioWare.
  7. <nerd> The solution I use for Android: OpenVPN to encrypt your data across the internet. You can get pretty in depth with the deployment if you want. I have mine using my Windows Domain CA that way I can use an auto-enrollment user certificate to authenticate, I also challenge for the current user domain password. Now you can take a simpler approach and manage your CA locally using open-rsa or whatever is is that they include with openssl. This configuration is easily setup on any home router that supports OpenWRT / DD-WRT. For the enthusiast, this is probably an acceptable solution. Most stock phones don't include an OpenVPN client, but CyanogenMod does, you can also download the binary installer from the marked if you are Stock + root. Once you are tunnelled, you can use a RA program to connect to your desktop. I forked over the $20 for Remote RDP enterprise. Worth every penny IMHO. Thats the basics. Your mileage may vary. </nerd>
