  1. It's hard to understand that out of all the developers it's Bioware that has let the LGBT-Community (and of course everybody else who wants SGRs) down this way when it comes to SWTOR. I have pretty much given up on it, probably why I haven't played for about 3 months. The moment the updates became all about the Cartell Market, it was pretty clear that this was it. I doubt there are any plans anymore to implement SGR with any old companions, maybe one day they'll introduce 2 new companions who have an SGR option. Probably for a few thousand cartell coins. Not that this is the first guarantee that has been broken by BW, it is just one more let-down, after the mediocre DA2, the catastrophic ME3 ending and the troubles at the SWTOR start. If DA:Inquisition is also fubar, that's definitely IT for me with BW.
  2. My Male Merc had no problem romancing her. But on Makeb on the imperial Side, isn't the female intelligence officer you work with only romancable by females? I'm asking because my female chars are all still on hold and when I played with a male char, I had a flirt option for the first conversation via comm, but later only the male Sith had flirt options in my conversations with him.
  3. That's actually wrong. There is a non repeatable Quest for Xenoanalyst. For me the Area quest only became available when I had finished the other quest.
  4. I know it's an old post, but I don't check this thread that often and I wanted to reply to it. I'm sorry, but your comment makes about zero sense. It's his fictional Universe, yes. I just don't see how this would make not having LGBT content in any way less wrong. That's like saying a bar owner who doesn't allow anything but heterosexual, anglo-saxon males in his establishment would be right. Or in other words, Lucas would have had the right to present the dictatorial and racist Empire as the 'good guys' in his Universe, yet wouldn't (hopefully) a lot of people think it's wrong to do that and rightly so? Just because something is legally right, doesn't mean it is ethically right in any way. By not including gays and lesbians in your fictional Universe you are marginalizing and excluding them and whether it's your right or not, it is indeed still wrong. I'm not sure I'm making myself clear, as English is not my native tongue. Let me give you another example. Female characters are vastly underrepresented in LOTR (I'm talking books here, not movies). Naturally, it was Tolkien's right and his decision how he represented women in his books, but still from how we see society today, his approach to female characters feels wrong and outdated. (I'm pretty sure, if Tolkien wrote his books today, we would have more characters like Galadriel and Eowyn and less like Arwen, but that's beside the point). Another example would be the xenophobic and racist content in the work of H.P. Lovecraft. Lovecraft had every right to write what he wanted, but he was still terribly, terribly wrong in doing it. Whether you actually depict someone as vile and worthless or you just exclude him from your work , both means using your power as a writer and creator to do wrong.
  5. The "Star Wars should have no homosexuals" BS is just that, BS. For what it's worth, even if Lucas intentionally kept homosexuals out of Star WArs (mostly), then it would still be wrong. Homosexuals, Bisexual, Transgenders are all people and as such they should very well be included into every concept. Every conceived universe, every SF or Fantasy setting. Anything else is discriminating in itself. Edit: I just saw that SidehVelsan has already expressed what I was trying to say in a much better way, than I did. My bad for not reading through to the end, before posting a reply.^^
  6. Gee whiz. What would people ever be without genii like you explaining to them what to like and how to like it. I like the game and even though I'm pissed off about many things (bugs, bugs, bugs and no SGR content) I keep coming back to it, again and again. But see, I'm not gay or lesbian myself, I just like to play with female characters and don't want to romance male npc's. If even I am severely disappointed by the lack of SGR content, I can't begin to guess how disappointing it must be for a member of the LGBT community to be put off by BW again and again. Like someone else had already answered you, it is part of being normal to see the way you live portrayed in videogames and other media. For a developer which is known for including said content, not pulling through with it on one game is not only disappointing but also highly questionable.
  7. Nice to see that most people here finally have stopped repeating the "it will be in there later" statements. 4 months ago, when I let my subscription expire, I felt pretty much alone with my opinion that something was amiss. At this moment I see two possible reasons for why SGR's have not been included by now, as opposed to what we were told (because lets face it, in that last 1 1/2 months, SGR's aren't going to magically appear in-game. 1. The priority for it has been lowered so much, because of all the problems the game suffers (dwindling subscriptions, FTP model etc..) that it simply isn't on the agenda anymore. Normally this would be the likeliest reason, but it doesn't really explain why neither the writers, the community managers or the pr department give out any information regarding SGR's. Is it really logical not to give people the information they want to save face, when it further disgruntles the group of players that supports SGR's? 2. It has to do with Lucas Arts/ Disney. Who knows how long ago the people over at George Lucas company have known that something like the deal was coming? Disney is not exactly supportive of SGR's or is it? Yes, there are 2 examples of homosexuality in all of the Extended Star Wars Universe. And that alone has always made me wonder how canonically SGR's are in Star Wars. Think about it. The Juhani romance and her sexual orientation is mostly hinted at, very little of the actual romance remained in the game. It might very well have been an oversight on the side of Lucas Arts, same for the marriage/ partnership between two male Mandalorians. This story also could simply have been overlooked. Maybe whoever was responsible at Lucas Arts simply never realized that both of them were supposed to be male. So, we have only two examples for SGR in the whole Star Wars universe, otherwise it is as if homosexuality didn't exist. Believe me, I know that, I read almost all EU books and tons of the Dark Horse comics. Two examples that could have been missed by Lucas Art's watchful eye and later retroactively be accepted into canon, like Lowbacca was accepted as the exception for Wookies not being able to be Jedis, after it had already been decided it wasn't possible for them. I don't think it necessarily means that George Lucas has anything against SGR's or isn't a supporter of equality. if it really is how I think, then it probably has nothing to do with personal opinion, but more with business decisions.
  8. Why not? They had Traynor in ME3 (I hope this is not counted as being off topic again). I would be crushed if I don't get to romance either Vette or Jaesa with my fem SW, I've parked her in Dromund Kas just waiting for the SGR options to open. I'd probably go for Jaesa though, if available, Vette is just too good for my SW. With my smuggler I'm kind of open to suggestions, I'd prefer Akaavi, but Risha or a new companion would be fine as well. For my JK I'd prefer Kira, but if a new and cool lesbian companion would be added I could accept that. I think there are points for both making companions pc-sexual and also for making characters that show their sexual orientation openly independently from the PC. Why not a mixture. I just hope that when the SGR option comes, that it's a) for all classes and b) that there will be existing characters open for SGR and not just one or two new companions that would be available to all classes like the HK is suppossed to be.
  9. I'm not saying SGR's are not coming, I'm still hoping for them, even have some hope for them coming this year, but I can't understand why some of you seem to believe every statement someone at BW does. In case of DA2 and ME3 there've been people from BW lying to fans, to the press etc.. A few months before release Hudson was still talking about how there would be so many versions of ME3's ending, that you couldn't even call it a conventional ending. Certainly not a choose option a,b or c ending. And what did we get? exactly that. BW is working for EA now, they'll say anything to appease people. If they wouldn't really plan to include SGR, wouldn't they be doing exactly what they are doing now. Telling people it will come, without a timeframe, without anything specific, just to keep the cattle from boiling over? I still have some hope for BW and I desperately hope for an SGR update this year but we shouldn't be too naive and trusting in BW is all I'm saying. I have a Gunslinger waiting for Akaavi, an SW waiting for Vette and a Jedi waiting for Kiara to come around, but I'm definitely not going to wait for ages while paying for a subscription. I give them 1-2 months, if by then we don't get more assuring iformation regarding this, I'll let my account rest.
  10. Excuse me that I'm not as trusting towards BW than I was before the horrible ME3 ending. The lack of any news regarding SGR in TOR coupled with the announcement of new story content (again, without mentioning SGR) does not exactly fill me with confidence. In regards to Mass Effect. In the beginning it was planned that you could romance both Kaidan and Ashley with a male and female Shepard, that was scrapped. In ME2 it was planned that at least Miranda Lawson was romanceable for both genders (and I think there was one male option as well, can't remmember who) but that was scratched as well. Instead you could have a sgr fling with Kelly and attraction to Samara, but again nothing for gays. I always feel like BW wants to do more but than retracts it for fear of causing too much controversy. I know, as far as romances in gaming are concerned they re actually one of the better developers in regards to SGR, but as a european all this fuss (or rather in this case all this hush, hust) seems quite pointless to me.
  11. Same here, I thought with June already arrived, that the topic should be adressed again and it's nice how 1.3 will again do nothing for SGR's. The E3 announcements show that new storyline material, new level cap etc. should be implemented this year, so where's the promised same gender romance? Gee, why is it always one step forward and then two steps back with Bioware? Like you could romance Liara in ME1, but the same sex romance options in ME2 were pulled...
  12. Been lurking through this and similar threads for some time now. For now I've chosen not to subscribe to the game for a longer period, because the sgra are not there yet. I really want to be able to romance Vette with my female Sith Warrior and Akaavi with my female smuggler and I want romance options for my other female chars as well, but that's just me and my preference for playing female chars in RPG's. Much, much more important is that anybody regardless of gender or sexual preference (not english, so I don't know if the term is the appropriate) should be able to have an agreeable romance in the game, if he/ she wants to. I believe BW when they say they'll implement it in the future, lthough they have done some awkward thing s in regards to sgr's in their other games (like changing Kaidan and Ashley's romance options, so that same gender romance was not possible in ME1 and the same with Miranda in ME2), but I would really like to see some sort of timetable and some more facts about whether there will be new same gender romance-options for existing companions. I know all of this has probably been asked/ said a million times, just wanted to add my voice to the fold.
