  1. GSF happens to be the only area in the game where I get true enjoyment. It's my number one favorite activity. It's beyond inconsiderate for anybody to come to the forums asking for something to be completely excised from the game just because it's something they don't like or regard as irrelevant. I queue for GSF every time I log on and there is a dedicated, passionate fan base out there who all recognize GSF for the awesome and well-crafted mini-game that it is. I'm not a fan of ground PVP, crafting or PVE grinding but I am aware there are plenty of players who are. I have enough common sense to acknowledge that there is plenty of room in this MMO for people to enjoy a variety of activities. I suggest OP kindly refrain from actively expressing disdain towards GSF. It's incredibly fun and requires a lot of skill to play with just the right amount of complexity for those willing to take the time to learn. If you're ever interested in some one-on-one help feel free to contact me. I play on Satele Shan and would be happy to share with you what I know.
  2. Have there been any announcements yet about whether or not they'll be doing anything for GSF's 10 year anniversary this December?
  3. Ugh. Seriously? Direct X 9? The link JackieKo gave doesn't come with any instructions on where the files should be installed. @JackieKo, please help us out and offer some suggestions. I'm not a technical expert and would rather not install some old program I'm unfamiliar with in some random folder on my computer.
  4. I'm running Windows 10 and also having a similar issue. I finished downloading the update, heard the start-up sound indicating the launcher was ready to go, clicked on the "Play" button and ... nothing. I also read the Dev post regarding 64-bit compatibility issues. I went to Properties only to see that my compatibility box was already unchecked.
  5. I'm not sure, but I do know that medals are still being counted (it was being tracked on Seasons objectives), just not being shown on the scoreboard.
  6. The scoreboard is no longer displaying medals earned at the end of a match. Please fix this!
  7. Once again SWTOR released a new decoration bundle I discovered to be largely unusable for anything other than background set pieces. The Power Station bundle consists almost entirely of just tables and chairs with some featuring food and drink. For a pricey 1,380 CC one would expect this bundle to at least feature some degree of interactive features with perhaps the most obvious being the ability to seat your character on the furniture. This bundle comes with no interactive features. To further add to the disappointing quality of this product the furniture itself is scaled about 20 percent too small making the arrangements impossible for a character to even squeeze in between a table and chair so the player can at least make due by using the "/chair" emote. The smaller scale also makes the furniture look frustratingly awkward for those electing to use the "/chair" emote on the single chair deco, with the end result looking terrible since the chair sits so low the character's butt appears to be floating several inches above the seat. Like so many hundreds of poorly produced, ill-conceived decorations that have come before, the person who produced this bundle seems to have no care or consideration for detail, releasing a product that ultimately frustrates and disappoints. DEV TEAM, I would like for you to please consider this very simple question: Do you really think players are satisfied with furniture decos they can't even sit on? Why has this *always* been a thing? Hundreds of chairs, couches, benches, thrones, workstations, lounges and other arrangements exist that can't be utilized. Why do you continue this stupid practice? Is it really too much to ask that we have something as simple as furniture that can be used?
  8. Well said, and I think this is a sentiment and frustration shared by many SWTOR decorators, if not the majority. I would gladly welcome any insight from a Dev on this process and whether or not anyone on the Dev team actually decorates.
  9. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I think most people like the idea of exploring a vast, mysterious ocean world. That sounds very cool to me. It sounds doubly cool when it happens to be an ocean world set in Star Wars. I've always liked the idea of Manaan ever since KoTOR, and it's nice to see it featured here, but while I'm appreciative of the quality design work that went into the new dailies area I am disappointed the Dev team missed out on an opportunity to give us something new and refreshing to play. Namely, an actual underwater environment to explore. Introducing a play mode that got players in the actual water would have been entirely possible within the game's limitations. The same template used for Galactic Starfighter could be applied to create a variety of undersea environments and scenarios players could traverse using a submersible and it would have been an interesting break from the monotony of trash mobs. Even on a smaller level it would have been feasible for the daily area to feature some aspect of underwater exploration using the same template featured in dailies like Iokath. If you can remote pilot a mouse droid or Iokath drone, why not remote pilot a submarine on an ocean floor?
  10. The Manaan dailies feature a plethora of new undersea decos. The reputation vendor offers multiple variations of kelp, seaweed, coral, etc., and I am absolutely stupefied as to why. Normally, it would make sense for an ocean planet to feature undersea decos, but not when the Manaan SH, which is arguably the most ill-conceived, thoughtless, half-baked and disappointing Stronghold currently in the game, can only feature those decos in an extremely limited capacity in an exterior, inaccessible area outside of the sublevel. That is the only area where these decos can look appropriate--and it's such an obscure area I would not be surprised that many players are even aware of its existence. So... why? What was the point of doing this? Who on the Dev team thought this was a good idea? Who on the Dev team agreed and authorized it to go forward? Did either of these two people ever consider how limited these underwater decos would be in practical application? Has anyone on the Dev team actually ever bothered to spend time trying to decorate the Manaan SH with it's atrocious, moronic hook layouts? The Manaan SH had the potential to be something incredible. It could have featured so much more. Imagine being able to have access to the large building interiors on the main level. Wouldn't that have been something? Imagine an expanded sub-level that featured a network of underwater structures connected by several glass tubes, all of them featuring intriguing, open views of the surrounding sea bed. Let's not forget the other oddball decos like the Emergency Escape Submarine and the Baby Progenitor Feeding Tank, with the latter being restricted to only a Starship hook, and the only Starship hook in that stronghold located on an inaccessible rooftop that most players probably don't even realize exists! What a genius decision that was. It is a constant source of frustration that the Dev team continues to release decos without thinking things through--without giving decisions like this adequate consideration. The end result is we get stuck with Deco Duds: decorations that are practically unusable due to thoughtless hook allocation limitations. Unless the Dev team is secretly planning to either overhaul the existing Stronghold or release a new and improved one, then I think this recent offering is as bizarre as it is tone deaf.
  11. ... And while I don't have any expectations whatsoever, I started this thread in hopes that maybe it might get a little traction--enough to perhaps catch the attention of the Dev team and encourage them to scrape something together to commemorate GSF's 10-year milestone next December 3rd, 2023. With that in mind, I'd like to list a few simple suggestions I think would be great to see for GSF's 10-year milestone. 1. 2 new Maps for both Domination and Death Match. 2. New Starfighter/Space-themed items added to the Fleet Commendations Vendor, including: New Paint Jobs New Paint Job colors Decos Starship Strongholds Additional T-7 companion customizations or a brand new Astromech Companion. Armor Sets I'll leave it at that. As much as I'd love to suggest more grandiose things like a brand new play mode I feel most of what I'm proposing is at least reasonably feasible.
  12. I missed out on the opportunity to obtain the unique items from this package which was available only for a limited time. However, considering 7.0 was meant to be a "year-long anniversary celebration" would you please throw us a bone and make this available again to players who missed this the first time?
  13. I had the good fortune of attending Celebration for the very first time. I knew it was going to be crowded and chaotic so I took things in stride and didn't have too much of an agenda other than to shop around for some merch, admire some impressive costumes and attend whatever panels were within reach. However, one thing I seriously considered in the weeks leading up to the convention was speaking my piece to the SWTOR Dev team. It was my one opportunity to introduce myself and articulate what SWTOR has meant to me over the years and why their supposed "year-long, 10th anniversary celebration" has been such a profound disappointment. On Thursday my girlfriend pointed a couple of them out to me when they happened to be browsing the same jewelry booth we were. It was Jackie Ko and some other middle-aged fellow I didn't recognize who wore glasses and a backpack--I'm guessing that must've been Phred Newman, but I don't know what he does. I didn't bother to say anything since it didn't feel appropriate to ambush them with an onslaught of pent-up gamer rage while they were minding their own business. They were wearing black T-shirts that read "SWTOR Dev Team". I commend their bravery for wearing that shirt considering the mountain of flak SWTOR continues to receive for failing to deliver an adequate expansion on its 10 year anniversary. Later, when I eventually made my way to the Galaxy of Heroes booth, I saw them again: Charles Boyd, Jackie Ko, Phred Newman and one other (who I'm presuming was Ashley Ruhl). I observed them quietly while waiting in line to get my photo taken in a GOH's promotional X-Wing cockpit. All the while I couldn't help but feel how sad it was that EA didn't even bother to give the SWTOR Dev Team a table for them to sit at. SWTOR had zero presence whatsoever. There was no booth, no banner, no promotional swag (I wasn't there on Friday for whatever hour-long poster signing they did). I'm not even sure the Dev Team was given chairs to sit on. While the GOH boasted a gaming station full of tablets for their pay-to-play grind game along with life-size character cutouts, artwork, free sunglasses and their impressive X-Wing cockpit photo stage, SWTOR had absolutely nothing. It wasn't even an afterthought. It was no thought at all. I felt bad for them. It looked awkward to see SWTOR's Dev Team huddled in a GOH booth that put zero effort into making a place for them. In the end, I chose not to engage. The atmosphere there didn't feel conducive for any substantive, constructive dialogue to occur. The Dev Team consisted of a writer, an artist and a community manager (though I'm not sure about Phred's role). None of them seemed to be the right person for which to lodge a litany of complaints and grievances (nor would I have wanted to), so it felt like a moot point--another exercise in frustration. I actually felt happy to see those guys. Despite SWTOR being on fire, they seemed genuinely happy and enthusiastic to be there, just like the rest of us Star Wars fans. Under better circumstances I would have liked to offer them my sincere gratitude and appreciation for their contributions to a game many of us happen to care about very much. Instead, I decided to share what I wanted to articulate to them in person for this post, so here it is: To the Dev Team, Thank you for all of your hard work trying to keep SWTOR afloat. Your players care a great deal about this game but it is abundantly clear that you are severely lacking in the resources and staffing you need to continue delivering a quality game in a timely manner. What more can the player community do to insist that EA grant you the necessary budget for you to succeed? Celebration was a golden opportunity for EA to promote the game and honor its 10 year anniversary achievement. Instead they chose to largely ignore SWTOR and in turn ignore the thousands of passionate fans who have been enjoying your game for years.
  14. Unfortunately, all I can deduce from your posts is that you are just rationalizing. In case you aren't clear on what I mean by this I'll offer you a definition: Rationalize răsh′ə-nə-līz″ intransitive verb 2. To explain or justify (one's behavior) with incorrect reasons or excuses, often without conscious awareness. 3. To dismiss or minimize the significance of (something) by means of an explanation or excuse. Your posts give me the impression you're having a lot of difficulty acknowledging what is otherwise a very reasonable suggestion that this game could have and should have done more to energize and inspire its player base by doing something to acknowledge and help promote a significant event for Star Wars fans. This could have been achieved in several ways. Adding something like a new Eopie mount to the CM or mailing players a "Lola"-inspired mini pet as a simple token of acknowledgment would have been a nice gesture. Even listing existing items such as the Obi-Wan-inspired "Steadfast Master's Robes" and "Blademaster's Lightsaber" would have at least been *something*.
  15. I have been away from SWTOR for the past several weeks due to the busy holidays and only just heard about all this PTS stuff and its rewards for participating. I read the news post that was released on 12/17 but could not find out anywhere when this testing phase will end. I would like an opportunity to earn some of the reward titles but not if I'm already too late to the party. Does anyone have any update on what definitive date this PTS phase ends? I really want to spare myself the frustration of trying to play catch-up over the weekend only to have it all be in vain.
