  1. I've been super split on this one, so I figured why not let the semi-masses have a say. I love the aesthetics of either one. Dual-wielding is awesome and being a rip-off of Darth Maul is equally as awesome. I just can't seem to set my mind on one or the other. I'm aware that the Shadow has the option to do some tanking but I highly doubt I'll ever touch a tank class again so that's a non-issue, but the fact it's there is something to somewhat consider. I was wondering how the resource management was for each. I'm a little off-put by the Shadow's Force (if only because I've never really been great with managing MP or magic or whatever it called in whatever setting.) but the idea of being able to stealth is appealing when in a tight spot. As for Sentinel...you jump in and hit stuff. who doesn't like that? I don't mind complexity, as that's something one kind of learns after awhile - just looking to see if any opinions on here with shift me to go one way or another
  2. but that IS the issue which I have addressed. It's been a fundamental thing of balancing that if someone were to go RDPS, they have to stay at a distance or risk getting chewed up and spat out...horribly. I'm not saying it's fun. I'm saying you know have to think about your own placement and squad composition. RDPS have horrible defense against melee: FACT. With 1.2 it's simply MORE apparent than before. My Commando has always been squishy even before 1.2
  3. The funny thing is... The Commando is meant to be a RDPS(slash healer...but healing is boring sometimes apart from shooting them with the gun...that's fun)...balance wise, it's defense when it comes to melee range is not meant to be all that great in the first place. Don't you have tank companions to use when your running together? If one were to use a tank and the other a healer, and then micro-manage the healing companion so that the tank stays up and you have a proper party composition of healing, tanking and DPS. Just sayin' RDPS have always sucked up close and personal, SWTOR is no different anymore XD
  4. So. I USED to roll with an RP-PVE guild when the game launched but due to time zone issues I had to leave as I was only hindering their activities with my Britishness. After that I didn't really play SWTOR as I just had a lack of reason to play it plus with playing style issues it was counter productive as I wanted one "main" style with sub-styles. So after sorting that out (RDPS...it's where it's at) I noted that 1.2 had dropped and that it wasn't particularly received well. With 20 days worth of game time left, I want to see if SWTOR and it's community still has a place for me to pop in, or if I should continue to have MMORPG issues and wait for Tera/GW2. So is it a good time to jump in, or should I wait it out and see?
  5. Personally I would say transfers need to be done sooner than later. I want to start playing TOR again, after leaving my guild due to time zone issues I haven't touched the game. I haven't felt a sense of community because the of the QQ'ers being very vocal about the game. Trying to find a populated server while finding a great community of guild to join with is NOT easy on SWTOR. It's the only reason I had stopped played. Without anyone to play with...it just felt like an MMO... ...maybe I'm just too shy to interact with strangers XD
  6. Ha as much fun as it is it to throe grenades and explosives, I prefer me guns and shoot from a distance and be generally awesome. I would head Sniper, but that's on the Empire side...T-T
  7. I throw them under the caster category XD yes they are ranged but the ranged I'm looking at is conventional weapon warfare, in SWTOR case, blasters or assault cannon. Leaning towards the Gunslinger at the moment as the cover system is something that interests me. Plus the whole dual blaster thing appeals to me more in terms of maneuverability (I'm aware that isn't the case due to the cover system but the cannon...too large for meh)
  8. poor Sentinels and Gunslingers and other DPS spec'd classes...you shall never be an MvP for some strange reasons *shrugs*
  9. It's...kinda easy ya know... The big map faces...one way...The nodes in the top corner for Alderaan, are specific to that map. The left icon is red? then it's the left turret that is being overrun... simple...
  10. Thanks for the input. I'll have to dig a bit deeper before I choose my class then...god damn you Bioware! XD
  11. As the tile states, I was simply wondering if most RPDS classes are faceroll easy... I was looking into a commando DPS build but found out that it pretty much revolves around a single ability with little to no reason to use any other ability apart from hammershot when your running low on ammo. I haven't seen too much Gunslinger gameplay so I can't really get a hand on how it plays. Anyone got any info for me that might help choose a class? (and a EU server...I need new home *puppy dog eyes*)
  12. From what little I've played into the AC's I did kinda of enjoy it. Sometimes with friends I take a very...leaderish approach to fights but as a Sentinel I couldn't access the battlefield properly because I was in the thick of things. Using a Gunslinger was a pretty much nice for me as I could access the field and move as needed. Sure it's not as mobile as a Commando but at least Gunslingers are totally useless if they need to move out of cover.
  13. That is only something you can decide. It boils down to the fact do you want to deal out the damage or take it? I'v'e seen builds that can do both fairly well. Tanking is a thankless job however and you'll be far more taxed as a tank than a DPS as the tanking mechanics in SWTOR differ greatly from other popular MMO''s which I will refrain from naming.
  14. To be honest, most of your posts DO sound like your whining. As the previous poster stated, she found it easy to heal with a Combat Medic. The Clincher? So did I and I have NO healing experience at all.
  15. of course it is. I've got a ton of DPS guardians in our guild that say it's viable. Just know you won't be doing as much damage as a Sentinel, but usually that's played off due to the fact your using heavier armour than they are. If anything Vigilance and Focus are you two main DPS trees. I recommend looking around (not on these forums...it's a minefield) at both and seeing which is more to your tastes.
