  1. Person accusing people of being entitled makes one of the most entitled comments I have seen in a while...
  2. Two things happened in the last year. Windows 10 cleaned up its processes in the background. The result, everything runs a little better now, as Windows is no longer sucking up the majority of your processing. (They needed to clean this up as they are using the same base code for Xbox and Mobile Devices now, and the bloat they were used to being able to get away with doesn't fly on the other devices.) Programs that were optimized for Windows 10 (SWTOR was one of the first to receive this treatment.) saw significant performance improvements. Nvidia drivers have also been optimized for 10, which results in better performance out of them, and thus the cards resources are better managed. I am sure AMD has done the same. Of course, take this with the understanding that someone in this thread is going to hate on windows because it is the cool thing to do and is going to tell me I am wrong, but eh. If you have not upgraded to 10, which given the age of your lap top is "possible" but not likely, then just generic optimizations from SWTOR are responsible. SWTOR has done a lot of work with their clunky shaders, and improved them greatly.
  3. It has been stated thousands of times that there is no real defense against a DDoS attack. You can't stop until after it starts, and then it can take time to figure out how the attack is happening, how to block the attack, and return service to customers. It is why ******s like these guys love them, because there is not much you can do to stop it, and it is hard to catch them when it happens. Meaning they get to ********** to their little act of cyber terrorism, are unlikely to suffer any consequences, and then people get mad at one of the victims (In this case EA) instead of the real scumbags that people should be upset with.
  4. I just want to say that I am really enjoying the new content, and am having a lot of fun. I get that some peoples preferred activities are not getting much love, and I understand that. Gaming trends shift, and right now, mindless (and for those who don't organize raid content, it is mindless) multiplayer activities are fading. Look at the rise of MOBAs which stress an individuals skill and decision making in the context of a team. Operations/Raids, you do what the boss says, and that's final. Multiplayer content is changing, and game devs are finally starting to realize that those of us who hate multiplayer stuff as still here and want content too. Gaming is evolving, and is remembering those it forgot, and is embracing new ideas and modes of thoughts. As was mentioned, this is a pendulum swinging, but each this pendulum swings, something new comes out of it. The MOBAs for example, and who knows what will be next.
  5. Before we even get started, this post is fairly negative in its assessment of GSF. That is not to say I do not like it, as it is the only PvP I engage in while playing this game. I don't know if the Devs will read this, or even care, but I feel I should at least say my peace. If nothing comes of it, nothing comes of it. The Ugly Side of GSF GSF is a neglected game mode that has seen zero updates since its release, outside of an introduction of a couple of fighters that had no real use (Outside of the Fighter/Gunship hybred, and the Fighter/Bomber hybrid.) and the promise of a new mission type that never materialized. So, for now we have 4 maps, with 2 game types. On top of this, we have a per character grind fest, that means as many start new characters or try out new characters, they rarely, unless they are diehard GSF players, start up GSF again. It is two expensive/to much work to grind up the exact same fighters all over again. So stagnation, combined with a massive grindy cost of entry that has to be paid over and over again, leads to dwindling players. Now, new players might buoy this up some, however a team with even just 2-3 vets, not even in upgraded ships, can completely stomp an average team, and just embarrassingly curb stomp a team with mostly newbies. This results in situations like I have experienced this last week, where I have played 10 matches and been close to winning on one, and actually won only one. Records like this discourage players from queuing, which increases queue times, which decreases players queuing, so on so forth. Nothing here is new or something that others have not said, it is just the accepted stage of the game. Solutions? A possible solution could be an underdog bonus. As players lose more, they get an increase to damage or durability until they win X number of games. Thus if they are being curb stomped over and over again, eventually the handicap will level out and they will a couple of games, giving them the morale boost to keep playing, be able to compete with veteran players, and give them an opportunity to actually learn how to play. Another possible underdog benefit could be increased requisition if you are the underdog team. If your "faction" has lost x of the last 100 GSF matches, you qualify for the "Underdog" reward, which doubles your requisition. So servers where the factions are more balanced, and win loss is about 50/50 this wont show up, but in servers where one side is just utterly dominating the other, at least the losers are getting rewards enough to allow them to advance, and keep queuing. Now before people start shouting that this is handing a trophy to everyone, consider this. If all you get for losing 10 games in a row, waiting 2-3 hours between pops, is a few hundred requisition, not even enough for a SINGLE upgrade at low level fighters, stress and morale crushing defeats, you quit queuing. At least if they are getting rewards to advance and upgrade their fighters, they will keep queuing to advance the fighter, and will learn how to play and eventually the underdog bonus will go away. Inclusion of new maps with asyemtric goals, such as defend a capitol ship while the other team attacks it, will go a long way as well, and will make the other fighters more useful, and might provide new and different challenges to keep the game play fresh. Finally, better integrate rewards/bonuses with the rest of the game instead of making this a tack on like it is now.
  6. I can not disable security key as you need to access your account which requires a security key, which is causing a time out. I am annoyed, but fine with this, I just want to know what is going on, or at least an official nod from some server tech that is like, "Yep we know, we are fixing it."
  7. It is also possible that the cluster missiles, which are the fastest traveling, and easy to lock on at near point blank range, 'hit' before you evaded, but due to the nature of internet lag, the hit may of registered in a weird order. I tend to fire a lot of clusters at point blank range, with little time to escape from them before they hit.
  8. On several servers, the Imperial Side is getting trounced in GSF, which leads to fewer queuing, resulting in longer waits for both sides, and for the Imperials, a spiral of losing as people give up, after failing to break 100 points in 90% of their matches. How is this problem resolved? After some thought, and consideration, I came up with this idea as a possible means to resolving this issue. On a per server basis, once one faction averages 65% of the wins over a week period, the losing faction is granted an underdog bonus. This bonus results in increased credit, experience, and requisition rewards. This serves two functions. It will encourage the opposing side players to perhaps switch sides to get the extra credits, which could help balance out win/loss. It would give the underdog faction's regulars the rewards they need to upgrade their ships instead of slogging along with 200-300 requisition rewards per match as it is now if you are on a losing faction, and finally it might give people a reason to keep trying, because they are still getting decent rewards. As they try, they gain skill in the game, and this can help naturally balance out the two factions.
  9. How to know you are going to lose 100% of the time on Bergeran's Colony. You are Imperial. You Queue. Queue pops. It is not Wargames against Imps.
  10. You actually circled? I just wedged myself up against the satelliete, pointed at the only viable approach vector, and shield tanked while scouts and strikes tried to kill me before slamming into the sat, or a drone got them. That is the scouts sabotage probe.
  11. Also, most flight sims that have been published in the last decade with combat in them have been multiplayer only, or helplessly arcadey.
  12. You've not run down a GS who knows how to use an Ion railgun then. What they do is fire a quick uncharged Ion shot, which applies a movement debuff, then they hit you with a full Ion Blast, extending movement debuff and nuking shield, then slug, and dead. Just because you can head on charge Gunships with people who do not know how to use it 100% does not make it a good strategy. I find a 45 degree arc and above and below is good, because it gives you time to adjust course when they start to track, and gives you a better shooting profile to start with, allowing you to more easily bank into the Gunships 6 if they attempt to rabbit.
  13. NovaDive and Flashfire have two completely different roles. Comparing them is like comparing a P-51 to a Corsair. They look similar on the surface, but get beyond that, and the similarities drop off. Flashfire is a quick response fighter/interceptor. It uses its speed to get into a furball to help tip it favorably, or to relieve an embattled defender long enough for the strikes to get there and engage fully. It is heavier armed, and ready for the kill. (Cluster missiles by the way are awesome, try upgrading them.) The NovaDive has two functions, sniper hunter, or recon. Its secondary function is objective capping. The problem with the NovaDive is that in order for it to be at the top of its Recon game, it needs a way to relay information other then prayer that the rest of the time notices the new sensor blips. In premades, it is going to be downright deadly in that it can foil any attempts to ambush. As to its anti-sniper role, strap rocket pods or sabotage probe, stack dampening so that poor gunship never sees you until it is to late, and go to town on that bad boy.
  14. They are not British. The Imps have never had British, they have ALWAYS had faux-brit. Close, but not quite, or how I like to call it, "Smarmy Brit Accent."
