  1. Ooooh. I didn't realise that creating an option to kill off a character could cause so many problems. That's not good. If that's the case, then I'll change my mind about killing him off. Does that prison outfit with the slave collar still require a social level prerequisite to buy? I've forgotten. The vendor was Belsavis, right? I'll have to have a looksie. ^^
  2. Honestly, I use it a lot. Gotta confess though, I use it more because it looks fab and that makes me happy. Probably not something I'd tap in PvP or serious play. Although, been a while since I bothered to check damage on anything seriously. I've just been playing stories or Events and a few dailies. So, I can't really comment on the usefulness as far as damage goes, only that as a weapon flourish it's fab. ^^ Also, a weapon flourish that doesn't require a target, which lends it to being very handy for taking screenshots of my character when I don't want an ugly red ring or enemy nameplate in the shot. 😁
  3. What's the things that go in ears again then? 🫠 ^^
  4. This is genius. Even if it couldn't be implemented in the game on its own, perhaps we could obtain an item or items, that could apply debuffs to our characters and simultaneously to our companions. Either in the form of an equippable item, or perhaps a consumable. (Preferrably something that doesn't run out at a crucial moment in your story cinematic. ^^) A universal attribute debuff may be the simplest way to provide it, but I suppose you could have attribute-specific ones too. And like you say, provide a range of options for differing degrees of debuff. And with no level requirements, so that you can use them on any character you like. That would leave people free to test themselves to the limits of their class within their own story. Self-applied debuffs seem a simpler solution than programming difficulty options into the game.
  5. This! This would be absolutely amazing if it could be engineered! I wonder if it could be at least made possible within class-story instances, even if it can't be effected in shared areas. Having that option to have a proper good set-to with each of the class-story bosses - that would be marvellous! 🀩
  6. Thank you so much for posting this! πŸ‘ I do only use the most basic attack now for most of my story scenes or there's just no sense of being in the moment. I've been trying to think of all the ways I can milk the most out of those story-based combat scenes with my higher level characters, because I *don't* want a repeat of the anti-climactic mess I made of the class (now origin) story on my 60+ Jedi Knight. Most of the class story fights felt ridiculously quick and easy, but the worst moment was the encounter with a very-significant-person in a very-significant-temple that ended in less than 3 seconds when I accidentally killed them before anything really interesting happened.. 😭 All those hours of thrilling anticipation and preparing our crew's ensembles for our stealthy and daring attack, then I blinked.. and it was all over! 😭 ^^ I intend to trawl this thread for ideas of how I can nerf my higher level characters to make any remaining class stories feel like I matter in them. The story fights just end up feeling so antithetical to the tension of the stories when everyone crumbles if I tap them lightly, even when my companion is on passive. 😭 Edit: Lots of good ideas of how to nerf a high level character to make the class (now origin) story fights feel appropriately thumpy: Wear only grey gear. No active stims, no weapon crystals, no class or guildship buffs. No companion, or companion on passive. (This is somewhat of a stumper in some scenes because quite often in the story I like them weighing in and being fighty and fabulous.) Replicate character exactly and play through the story with the mimic and then don't get distracted by PvP and Conquest and take them to level 80 before finishing Chapter 3 of the Class Story. (Speaking from rueful experience.) Almost like the real thing. πŸ˜‘ Enable Cybertechs to craft dodgy implants that impair your character's attributes.
  7. Actually, on that theme. You know what would be useful, is if players have an option in Group Finder to flag themselves in any particular FP/ Uprising queue as a Guide. (Not sure if it would be practical for Ops or PvP though.) A Guide being designated as a player both willing and experienced enough - and with sufficient time on their hands for that given run - to assume the role of the group leader and guide *if* need be. If you spawn in the instance and everyone is flagged, well then, "Hey-ho let's go!" and you can really spank that pony. However, if one or more of the group is not, it allows for people to take a moment to suss out what a reasonable expectation of everyone's skill will be. πŸ€” ^^
  8. So true. Although, I usually confirm with a player I suspect is new or at least new to that content whether they are or not before I say anything. Sometimes it's a kid, and they're almost never going to speak up for themselves because they're trying to look like smoove gamers. And sometimes folks are just overwhelmed by the unexpected rush and action and are so desperate to keep up they've no time to chat. If you're *so* new that you don't even realise that the window for such chat is limited before you're left behind it can be tricky. I remember I didn't even know you could even do something like skip cinematics in FPs for the longest time. (I was so confused because I was trying to work out what slang the word 'skip' translated to in German. Man I was clueless.πŸ˜…) xD
  9. Given the scathing criticisms I've read recently of other contemporary MMO's, where would you say that SWTOR stands, roughly, in the scheme of comparable MMO's with regards to that impression of being cared for? What would be the gold standard for MMO's in that regard? Is it the rebuilt version of FF14? And out of curiosity, what are the other MMO's you've played (or anyone's played) recently and to a comparable degree of depth, that make you feel as though they've received a greater degree of care? I am genuinely curious, because I haven't seen any MMO's recently that don't have some peculiar problems of their own, so I'm wondering if it's just because I've not played enough of them. πŸ€”
  10. You know, my experiences of The Esseles run via Group Finder were breathlessly quick too. And I've seen what you mean when three of the group have mounts in the Esseles and know the joint backwards and there's one poor sod who's level 15 and no mount and clearly no idea what to do. I'm on Tulak Hord, so usually I needed only to say, "Please wait, So-and-so has no mount" or "Please wait, I think So-and-so is new" which would immediately be responded to with considerate behaviour, even if no actual reply. Very occasionally, a veteran player would abandon us in impatience, or I'd be completely ignored and the others would repeatedly initiate combat while the new player (and me) were stuck in the elevator. πŸ˜‘ ^^ Also, despite playing for a while, almost all my group content was Republic side, so it was me who was always the clueless player for the Imperial equivalent (actually all the unique Imp FPs), and it was a miserable experience. People were not explicitly mean to me, but it was clearly conveyed to me that I was wasting their valuable time and that expediency and the FP reward was of vastly higher priority than low value rewards such as group co-operation, playfulness or enjoyment. ^^ For the longest time, like you, I was really intent on getting those Group Finder Conquest Objective/ Random GF rewards each week. Then I thought about it and weighed it up and realised that the reward is, on balance, just NOT worth it. Precisely because I don't want to end up resenting any particular Flashpoint or content. Nor do I want to end up resenting the players in general as, while I've met many delightful and hilariously playful folks through GF, the bad experiences and people always stick like sh*t to a blanket in my memory because that's just how our brains default rank these experiences. I noticed that tended to make me view the whole GF experience with a negative bias, even though the vast majority of my GF runs I'd rank as between very satisfying to joyous. So, I now stick to Guild groups or groups assembled on the Fleet - usually with a bunch of people or another Guild I'm familiar with. When I'm feeling energetic I rustle up my own and we always wait for the stragglers, dammit! 😀 ^^ So now my approach is largely GF can go f itself and I stay well away. I'm a lot less stressed when playing group content as a result, I no longer waste my time and energy on futile runs or am made to feel like a dead weight and in hindsight it seems like a very small compromise for a very great gain. 😏 I'd suggest being more selfish and placing *your* enjoyment of the game experience as your priority and f those GF rewards. πŸ˜‰ ^^ Edit: And another thing...
  11. Thank you Owen, I didn't even realise that it wasn't up to date. Installed the updated driver and rebooted, and while the monitor model is now being recognised and listed correctly, the resolution in NVIDIA Settings is still resetting away from the native resolution whenever I launch SWTOR. (Changing it is habit now, so it doesn't bother me. I only noted it because it might have been relevant to the DxDiag.) ^^ Edit: Update on failed troubleshooting attempt. πŸ€” ^^
  12. For this, I noticed that both types of reputation will potentially drop while a previous Galactic Seasons companion is active during GS4. Shadow reputation still drops while I've Fen active, particularly while smacking Black Sun or other Syndicate members. Occasionally in my looting I see BOTH a Note of Reflection AND a Shadow-thingy (sorry, the name escapes me ^^) reputation token have dropped. So that's handy. Also, Notes of Reflection will drop with any companion, or even without a companion. That I've seen plenty of. 🀩 ^^ I can't confirm any drops of G.A.M.E. reputation tokens with Fay because I've not used her much recently. I suspect there was at least one, but I can't be sure yet.
  13. Thanks for this heads up. Had recently completed this for a Rep character and am slowly catching up with GS companions across my swag of characters, so this would have driven me nuts trying to work out what I'd done wrong. Also, I wouldn't have bothered doing it on my Imps thinking it would be universally bugged.
  14. So agree. Doc Sleazebag is genuinely pathetic and awful. A proper Dark Lord of the Cringe. Would love an on-board scenario where we can choose to accidentally leave behind a companion on a remote planet or simply discuss them (in the past tense) with another companion in the aftermath of an unfortunate accident with the ship's emergency exit locking mechanism. ^^ On every other character Treek would get it, but on my Knights I would readily shaft Doc over Treek. I made the mistake of romancing him on my first JK and I still regret it.πŸ™„ Doc's only redeeming quality is his critical bonus toward Underworld Trading missions and I would still rather lose that bonus and have 1000 of Scourge's (Gatt's) withering reproofs in his place.😍 Or HK's (Tabori's) weary, passive-aggressive assent.πŸ˜‹ They may be bad, but they're never cringe. ^^
  15. Had the same issue. Magnifying glass offset between 15 and 45 degrees to the North-west of whatever I'm wanting to view on the map. Meaning I have to waft the cursor over the area roughly 15 to 45 degrees North-west TO and at a distance always about the approximate radius of the magnifying glass circle distance AWAY from the actual point on the map I want to peer at just to be able to find the thing under that magnified circle. The cursor behaves normally when I turn off the magnifying glass. Have submitted an in-game bug report.
