  1. I'm inclined to believe that it would be simpler to update textures on existing models rather than design new sets to replace old ones--because yeah you wouldn't have to do any model work, in theory. This would also please the fanbase more, I would think, since they would not need to re-invest in a bunch of armour they already have. It would also help to reduce asset bloat (which I know almost nobody aside from me cares about). That having been said: the ease of updating an old texture would probably only be slight given that you'd be trying to match seams and such on models you're trying not to edit. Given the pressure that MMORPG dev teams are under to produce new content, the marginal difference in effort to revitalise old assets would probably be judged as "not worth it". In a world of content as large as SWTOR has become, I personally do not agree with that (revitalising all the old content in SWTOR would make the whole game feel newer and I would enjoy playing through old content more, reducing the time pressure for constant outpourings of new content), but EA's corporate policy encourages that sort of thought process. There's also the mild issue of new textures being printed onto old models that...frankly would need work to match the look of the new textures. If you look at the newer sets on the CM, you can see that the devs have learned a lot since Ye Olden Days. The models themselves have more...more. Armours have plates, tubings, robes have folds, boots have creases--and thank god they finally learned how to make bracers relevant. I can't remember the last time I saw a set introduced to the CM that had those "printed on" leg plates. That's finally a thing of the past. If you put the high-res textures on those old pieces, it is going to look weird (like putting a fresh, pretty coat of paint on a rusted out chassis) and people are still going to complain about them. And if you're going to update models AND textures...then you've come full circle in this conversation: may as well make replacement sets. It's an unfortunate situation.
  2. Can confirm. Can't recall the name, but I got excited about it when I "rediscovered" it, then put it on several companions and...was disappointed when cutscenes happened.
  3. This...sounds amazing TBH. A GW Hero style companion system blended with the companion system TOR currently has, would really hit the ball out of the park for a good feeling of control of your "personal Star Wars story" that EA likes to tagline SWTOR with. The problem is that even player characters SWTOR are only just starting to get a taste of the robust customisation system that GW and moreso GW2 have built their MMO around. Companions would have to be totally rebuilt from the ground up to accommodate this, and then they would be more entertaining that our own characters, which is problematic. GW Heroes had customisable stat combinations for different styles of play (direct dmg v condi, health sponges v tanks v healer-tanks, specialised crit builds, etc.), and completely independent rune and sigil sets to further specify what you want characters to do. TOR has...DPS, Heal, Tank. You could make the case that the bonus effect sets we have now are like runesets and the tacticals are reminiscent of sigils, but not only can companions not make use of these, they don't have the player movesets to use them, nor do we have stat diversification options to back them up. If they did, companions would likely be overpowered, and would really need to have their AI redesigned to make use of it all. It's a great idea, but not feasible.
  4. I think so far this year we surprisingly only have this topic and this topic petitioning for this. That second one also lists previous requests from previous years. God only knows why this hasn't been done. Everybody knows everybody wants it. This would be the preferable outcome. And it can't be hard for them to do. I'm sure they have more pressing concerns that they want to attend to first, but, well, this should be high on their to-do list at this point.
  5. Two things I always wanted to be able to favourite: Pets and Companions. I know exactly where in the list my favs are, but that doesn't mean I want to be forced to scroll all the way to the bottom to summon Veroa, HK-51 or that H2-WF I ran Nathema over and over again to get on one specific character. Posting to keep this at the top of the suggestion thread stack. Needs to happen with the 7.0 UI Overhaul. (Hiding those pre-KotFE/post-KotFE duplicate companions wouldn't hurt either.) EDIT: Hiiamhere had the nice idea of putting them in their own little tab, if you just couldn't stand adding an extra dropdown to the top of the current list.
  6. That actually happens to be the outfit he has in his #1 outfit slot right now. :/ That's true, I hadn't thought of that possibility. That would really suck though if true.
  7. So, I've been all over the game and all over the internet, and I just can't seem to find this particular chest piece I very much want for my Consular. Here is an image of the chestpiece in question, displayed on an NPC in the Hunting Lodge area of Onderon. I already own the Ceremonial Set which is basically this chestpiece, but... well SWTOR has a known habit of sticking random junk on otherwise nice pieces of armour, and I do NOT want that. I simply want the underlying garment without those silly, stupid pauldron-type-things that the Ceremonial Tunic has stuck to it. Seeing as it is pictured on a character, the asset must exist in the game, but is this somehow an NPC-restricted asset? Anybody have any clue? I've searched the Cartel Market, Collections, Synthweaving and Armourmech recipes and the GTN for generic drops and just can't turn up anything. Any help is appreciated. EDIT: That actually happens to be the outfit he has in his #1 outfit slot right now. :/
