  1. Actualy a lot of internet providers have a cap as to what you can use a month before they cancel your account, I know for Comcast home that cap is 250Gigs and so is fairly decent if you don't have say 5 roommates all trying to download a new MMO in the same month along with ****, TV, and Work/College/etc stuff. Either way data caps are not just on phones, they just don't warn you about the caps expect in the fine print for home internet.
  2. I don't feel its so much that people are against a LFG tool, I think its more of the fact people are against a PvE LFG CROSS SERVER tool... a LFG tool does not hurt PvE experience if its on same server so that people at least have some sense of consequence for being a d**che. As for me Cross server PvP LFG cool cross server only helps for those tools for PvP, same server LFG tools for flashpoints cool that's useful with minimal damage to the experience since most people have at least some sense of "being an *** can end up making it hard to get a group in the future". Cross server LFG PvE keep that away, that allows the people on the edge between "be good and get groups easier" or "be an *** and take things even don't need just because Ill probably never see these people again" to choose the later. To sum up Cross Server PvP= Great, bring it Same Server PvE= Good, bring it Cross Server PvE= Hit and Miss, not worth the risk please leave out.
  3. Wow, looks like someone has never played a newly launched MMO before... a lot of gripping over nothing is all I see... "oh space combat is so bad"--- umm that's an optional mini game "oh UI sucks"--- and it will be changed many of times and eventually become modable... blah de blah de da... Either way yes the game was released in a incomplete state mainly to do with UI, but you also have to realize that is mostly marketings fault, they where forced to release in time for the holidays and so they had to skimp on things for launch that they will add in later when they don't have such a limiting factor of having less then 4 days of wiggle room. As for UI and not being moddable, they stated many of times "hey we will let you make mods in the near future but we don't want any for launch to help with stability and getting bug reports that applies to the core game" This game has not been out for 5,6,7 years, it had a very hard dead line that had to be followed, and it will get updates as it goes along but you launch with stable and then add in convenience after because if a game is unstable people don't stick around, if its just inconvenient they hang around for a bit see if it gets fixes and if not then leave.
  4. I never said anything against a turn xp off toogle, I was just pointing out he worded his complaint wrong because his issue isn't leveling to fast, his issue is over leveling due to doing optional content. Yes being able to turn off XP would be great to allow those who want a challenge but also want to do all optional content to do so, I know I would use it. But to say "lower XP on all quests and flashpoints, and PvP matches, and mob kills, and exploration, and everything else because I do optional content and am out leveling it, and make everyone who doesn't do all this optional content be forced to grind mobs to catch up" is just as silly of a statement, and that is what he is suggesting, to force people to grind or force people to do optional content just because he is out leveling the content for doing optional things. Option to turn off XP, yes definitely love the idea... OP idea of nerf all xp so that people are forced to do optional content so that everyone has to do exactly the amount of PvP/Space Combat/Flash Points as him to not fall behind in levels... yeah no that's a bad idea, don't force people who don't like PvP/Space combat/Flash point times to grind for hours on end just because someone else is over leveling content by doing it.
  5. To only say "well Knight/Warrior ACs are not different enough to not be able to switch between" is a bit silly since thats also the only class that is really only 1 style (aka pure melee). So yes 25% of the base classes their ACs play style does not vary much at all, but that one is also the only one that is very limited in what they could do with it. The rest are highly different between their ACs. Either way DS is something you pay a fairly high amount to do to be able to have 2 different builds you can swap between without having to go back unlearn all your talents and hope you remembered your other build correctly. And where to put what spells on your hot bars for it. It is something that for people who don't PvP or Dungeon crawl a lot is generally not worth the cost since they don't switch their specs that often, but for people who either PvP a lot but enjoy PvE as well, or people who tank or heal in Flashpoints a lot but hate the slower killing when questing find very valuable because it saves time and eventually money. Some may think that DS is bad because it allows less of a penalty for choose may not realize that you still make chooses in your builds and one is purely built for a style game play that is not your run of the mill questing build such as PvP or dungeon crawling. While others may think that paying to respec is outdated and should be free which don't realize there should be a feeling of meaning to making a choose. When done properly DS is great, it allows you to make meaningful options while still not restricting you to one section of the game without having a continual money sink and time sink of re-setting up bars and what not. So long as the cost to DS makes it only worth it to people truly doing multiple aspects of the game constantly, and that you can only switch in say safe areas such as quest hub areas or towns then it is good. But if the cost is so negligible that everyone will DS just to do it or being able to swap anywhere then its not so great. Back when a certain MMO released DS I only did it on my PvP toon because the cost was high enough to where that was the only toon worth doing it on, but as the price dropped down to pocket change is when I disagreed with it.
  6. You do realize that over leveling and too fast are 2 different things? The reason you are overleveling is because the xp is done in such away to allow people who don't have time to do flashpoints, don't like PvP, and who may have trouble finding a group for a heroic quest don't have to sit on a planet and grind for 6 hours straight to keep at the right level. You are over leveling the content because you are doing optional content that though fun to do is not forced because well not everyone has time to do flash points and not everyone likes PvP and not everyone likes Starfox 64. As for speed its set at a nice pace of not so fast your 80% leveled in a day like how some other unnamed MMO has become throughout its expansions, yet not so slow to where you feel like you have to grind for days at a time to get a single level. Its at a rather nice pace, and the other thing people need to remember is the game doesn't end very second you hit 50, your barely 1/2 way through your storyline at that point and there is still a lot more content to enjoy at 50... leveling is not the goal its just part of the journey, they want you to be able to have your character with all skills and talents long before you reach the end of your storyline, which is what they did. Its not "oops Im 50 guess that means its either time to raid or roll ant alt" its "oh hey look Im 50, well I still have a ton more storyline to play and Ill get around to raiding or rolling an alt but I want to see how the rest of my story goes since I am barely 1/2 way through it"
  7. LFG tool perks and anti perks Perks- - Faster dungeon experience for people willing to tank or heal - Less spam filling general chat Anti Perks - Longer wait times for DPS because tanks or healers that they could get in chat don't bother because they can almost insta que - If cross server everyone who would be cautious to not piss off their server now has no consequences for Needing on any and everything. I am not anti LFG tool, I am anti LFG cross server tool for dungeons, PvP cross server is great, PvE not so great. If you take away consequences from people being a**es they are less likely to care whats best for the group and only care about whats best for themselves which means needing on anything that can vendor. As for the people asking "if you don't want it why don't you just not use it"... simple answer is with it there people they would be able to easily pick up without it won't pick up because they have a easier way to get in... asking why not just not use it is like asking "Why not just not use Microsoft Office if you don't like it"... if all your business partners are using it you are forced to to be compatible.
  8. Faster leveling? Tons of people hit 50 in less then a week and you want it faster? Take in the story, slow down a bit, and take in a Bioware game as a Bioware game... Max level is just the destination but the journey starts at level one... If your thinking this game is going to be like WoW where only end game matters and leveling is just a time sink it may not be the game for you. The entire bases of this game is its story telling, if your not interested in that then play WoW or Rift which both have more of what your looking for.
  9. I take it you totally skipped over the story and just grinded out the quests to level as fast as you could to get to 50... If you do that then yeah its dull, but if you actually listen to all the quests and storyline and realize why your doing what your doing it is quit enjoyable... It is not like most MMOs the game starts at level 1 and continues through, if you play it like other MMOs of burn through the leveling to access "end game" content then yes you won't enjoy it. To each his own I guess, I actually find leveling alts in this game really fun while leveling alts in WoW is just a time sink... Don't get me wrong I didn't mind leveling 30-50 alts all up to level cap back in the day, but as time has past it has all just been hastened to reach level cap and not actually enjoy your leveling, by the time you finish a zone your 10 levels above it and can skip 2-3 entire zones. Not saying this game is better or worse then WoW, that's subjective, just saying maybe you should slow down a bit and take in the story and then see how PvE leveling feels.
  10. Um they don't plan to do maintenance during prime time as a normal time, they are simply downing the servers during this prime time so that they can add more servers and have people picking it up at midnight have a chance at not waiting in a que first night with having people who have been playing the past 7 days who might have normally logged off at 2am not bothering logging in tonight since there is nothing special about tonight for those already in besides there being a few more servers. By all means if you don't want more servers up for smaller que times by all means complain, as for me and most everyone else they realize this is not a normal maintenance time and is purely a last prep for launching the game and will not be the time they do server maintenance regularly.
  11. You get your 1 free month starting "tomorrow" (tonight), but you still need to register your game code before the maintenance on the 22nd if you don't want your time cut off till you register... pre order codes and actually game codes are 2 different things, you could have pre ordered, got the early access and then canceled your order just to have a free trial. So to answer your question, you need to input your game code before the 22nd but you have till January 20th to enter a payment option wither it be monthly sub, tri monthly, hex monthly, or game cards.
  12. Don't forget the people getting it for Christmas from their parents or spouse or what not... but yeah tonight won't be many more people then during the end of early access. The first real test will be the 26th and then again when people start getting back home from visiting out of state relatives and what not. Either way the point is there is still a lot more people coming in in the next few weeks, because of holidays and some people being on computer-less vacations (aka visiting family w/o their desktop).
  13. It is a store to store bases... yes some stores have excellent employees who know what they are talking about and don't fold to corporate policies, but as for policies and training and what what have you they have been going down hill quit a while. Their corporate trains new hires to use lies and deceit to force sales that might or might not happen on their own. For example after Arenanet said just the day before "No release date, closed beta by end of year, but not open beta" the store employee lying to my face saying it comes out in November, that Arenanet said so and that I should pre order it for a Christmas gift... And for those naive parents buying their kid a game for the holidays believing what he is saying will feel like they just got sucker punched by Arenanet despite the lies coming from Gamestop employees to up their pre order numbers and not Arenanet who have said many of times that it would not be out for the holidays because they are not rushing it. Point is any company you can have good or bad stores with in them, that in itself does not make the company bad or good, BUT policies that either encourage deceit, lying, stealing, cunning methods make for an overall bad company, while those who honor telling the truth even if it may cost them a short term sale are overall good ones, because if the company is honest enough to go "hey if you want x item the store down the street has better prices, but if you want y item we beat them" most people will shop there even if they are not the best priced because they are not getting lied to. Are there good Gamestop local stores and local management? Of course. But is that the standard training and policies? Nope not even close, they do a lot of shady business practices, such as lying about release dates to up pre orders, taking product out of certainer games because it competes with their product (Deus Ex comes to mind), and advertising certain games coming with something they don't (Pre order items in used copies of RAGE, and access to the catwomen parts of Batman Arcam City in pre used games comes to mind)
  14. Gamestop has been going down hill for years... A day after Gamescom I went to Gamestop just because I was bored (since they had already annoyed me to the point where I won't shop there unless they have a game that I can't find anywhere else (like a game that has been out of print for several years and they just happen to get a used copy in). I looked through there release date sheet and they had GW2 listed as to be released November 2nd. Knowing that this was not true since just the day before they had directly said over and over "No release date, closed beta should be by end of year but probably not open beta" I decided to play dumb and pretend I didn't know this was a flat out lie. I talked to the sales clerk noting "Nov 2nd that can't be right?" and he in turn replied "Yes it will definitely be out then, that is when the developers said they would release the game because they wanted to make sure to rush it out for a holiday release", I then proceded to state how I didn't "think" they where in beta yet and he then tried to tell me that they started beta 6 months ago. So yeah now a days Gamestop employees are trained to lie cheat and steal to force through a pre order, and unfortinitly at this time of year it works since parents of kids who don't know any better believe anything they say... Either way it is a shame that they are not doing a midnight thing at most their stores, because for the most part it isn't about getting the copy of the game then but rather hanging out having a good time with people who have similar interests as you. Heck I would go despite the fact I got a DD edition on Origin because that's normally when I am getting off work anyways and the people that generally go to those things are nice amusing people.
  15. Oh no, you don't like the class you picked and you have to roll a new toon in a game that is heavily story driven and you can choose different options just to see what would happen? That sounds terrible... oh wait no no it doesn't you may say that "Well 1-10 is just a tutorial planet and I already did it"... Ok fair point but lets just take a look overall. <Edit deleted Wall of text and just summerized what I had said> Point is it is not going to kill you to do the 1-10 content over again if you don't like your AC you picked, for most people its better this way then picking your class right off the bat, 1-10 you learn the feel of the basic spells, see if you want to continue that style or not and if you do then you get a in depth description of what class your picking and the style it is, you know wither you want to be a caster dps, healer, melee dps, tank, you have a feel for the basics and then you pick your AC based around what style you want to what base class you liked. Edit: I could see how ever "Hey your level 10(ish), give these 2 ACs a whirl against these training droids and tell me what one you want to go for", and while your on that quest allowing you access to say Mid 20s levels of both ACs (one at a time) in that instance to see what feels best for you... that would not be to hard of a quest to add in to the game for each class and would be an acceptable way to not have you feel gipped for picking a wrong AC since at that point its all on you.
