  1. Kinda disagree with that. I play Sniper alt as well. I run with 100 energy and absolutely never run out of energy. Marksman Sniper and Medicine Operative, when played to the best of their potential, have zero energy issues. They are 2 of the best specs in the game in that respect.
  2. Okay, so what is considered to be the best set bonus to use as an Operative Healer in PvP these days, with the added complication of bolster? How are the top players gearing up? Right now I'm using the old 4 piece PvE bonus. (with the rest of the gear Partisan/Conqueror), which is decent after the buffs to Nanotech and Infusion a while back. If I did more PvE I could probably pick up the new pve 2 piece So, the old PvE 2 + the new PvE 2 are clearly the best on paper, with nice buffs to the AoE Heal. However, without fully understanding bolster, I know that it kinda screws your stats if you mix a pve armoring in a piece of gear with majority pvp stats. I'm only able to run at 1.7k~ expertise with those pve armorings in. I'm wondering if people think its worth it to lose some expertise in exchange for those buffs to Recuperative Nanotech. The pvp set bonuses for Operative heals are absolutely dreadful. There is no need for (a pitiful 5) more energy because the resource management is extremely easy anyway, and a tiny buff to a mediocre shield is near useless as well. So I'm a little torn on this, the heart says pve set bonus because I love Nanotech, the head says the expertise will give a better overall gain. TL;DR: What's better, a much improved AoE heal and 1.7-1.8k expertise, or crap set bonus and 2k~ expertise.
  3. That is some very odd nerd-rage. Marauder is still excellent. Deception got some burst buffs and the ranged classes got some general buffs, which they needed. Deal with it.
  4. Too many variables to simply type out exactly how the fight would go. But basically, if he has his defensive cooldowns you are screwed. There is no way you will outdamage him before he outdamages you. Absolutely no way. If he does not have defensive cds available then you have a possibity to win if you; play smarter, have cds yourself, get crits on hard hitting abilities, don't get deflected railshots etc. For the most part, Merc is a bad 1 vs 1 class, so you shouldn't put yourself in this situation if possible. Especially against a Guardian who has everything at his disposal to crush you.
  5. Why bump this old and terrible thread? For the record, Prototype Particle Accelerator only procs railshot when you have combustible active. If you are playing Pyro without CGC then that is a massive fail. Not even a debate.
  6. Just to pick up on this, Pyro doesn't have 100% armor pen on railshot, it's 30 from Superheated rail and 30 from Advanced Targeting. If you got the 100 from the swtorspy talent calculator then that's because it incorrectly switches numbers around sometimes, it's a bit buggy. It got my hopes up a few times already, haha Power Shot does actually build Power Barrier stacks as well as proccing unload. But no heat sigs or tracer locks. It's a 100% chance if your target is already burning with combustible, I think you've been tricked by the talent calculator error as well Anyway I'm just being pedantic and I agree with the rest of your post, I can't see this hybrid being viable due to resources. Might try it out for fun in pvp though sometime
  7. This is actually a brilliant idea, but I don't know if people would simply care enough to support it. :/
  8. Get another piece of surge, you should always have 75% minimum. Aim augments. Get some more power (400 is low), by any means possible, such as choosing the mods with low endurance and high power.
  9. Power, always Power. But yeah as the other guy says, unless you really like the look of the colour it's a bit of a waste of coins, as you can get +41 crystals pretty easily at 50.
  10. But that's the thing, it's not fun to be the whipping boy of warzones. I love the basics of Merc, the visuals and so on, but being a terribly unbalanced smashfodder punchbag is no fun at all. if they gave us some decent fixes to our flawed mechanics then I'm sure Merc would be enjoyable in pvp again. You can get by and have fun in pve with any class, because you don't have actual players targeting your specific weaknesses and making your life hell. Different story in pvp.
  11. Because they are incredibly easy to shut down, bring nothing to the table that other classes don't already bring, have dreadful mobility, utility and survivability, and have been this way for an entire year. And 200-250k damage is crap when you have people putting out over a million these days, so don't quote poor stats to try and justify a class, it's cringeworthy. Sorry for being rather straight but these threads are pretty annoying and don't help our case.
  12. I'm mildly optimistic from a Pyro perspective. Okay we're not going to be transformed into the new smashers overnight doing gazillion damage per hit, but it should be much more enjoyable to play. People are too quick to discard Powershot. It has its place even in pvp. Yes of course you don't want to cast it when you're being attacked, a melee guy will interrupt it all day long just like Arsenals Tracer, however there ARE opportunities in every warzone to freecast and pump out as much damage as possible, and that is where Powershot comes in. To cycle railshot procs as we don't really have any other way apart from a long unload cooldown. Is it as good as flameburst for powertechs? No, not in a billion years, however it's all we have unless you want to spam rapid shots for 5-10 globals while you wait for your cooldowns, meanwhile that healer nicely tops himself back up to 100%. In 2.0 Powershot will have 6% more base damage 30% more crit damage (its been added to the firebug talent) 3 less heat If that was in the live game right now we are looking at crits of 4k. On a spammable ability. It's a bit like the old tracer. I would take that. I think Pyro has the potential to do okay in 2.0. Due to other classes also getting buffs we're obviously still not going to be near the top but we will be more competitive than we are currently. Let's look at the main changes; Hydraulic overrides Electro Net Kolto Missile Flare breaking all movement effects (right now we can cleanse tech slows/roots but this will let us easily get rid of force slow, wither, deadly throw, warrior leap roots etc at no cost). 4% alacrity 3% accuracy just from filling out necessary talents going up the tree Much better Powershot and marginally better Unload and Railshot. Guaranteed CGC on Missile Salvo If someone has played a considerable amount of Pyro pvp on the 2.0 PTS and wants to come in and pee on my parade then feel free but I personally think we'll be fine and I'm excited to try it. Arsenal however will stick suck balls, lets be clear here.
  13. Right now? Only the healer tree. Merc DPS is awful in pvp. Things might change to some extent in 2.0 but don't hold your breath
  14. My healer pvp set is not far off being min maxed, ideally you want something like; 1800-2000 Aim 20k hp 30-35% crit 1000 power? whatever it takes to get around 1k bonus damage anyway. 75% surge 5-10% alacrity (maybe more if you take talents) No accuracy obviously cus you don't need it. Alacrity is not much of a big deal atm, the increases are very minor, however Alacrity in general is getting re-worked in the 2.0 update patch so it will probably become more useful. But these stats are a baseline for the live game atm.
  15. I agree with the OP, the old one was 100x more fluid and awesome. It just felt better to cast. I can't play Arsenal now with the boring, disjointed robotic arm animation. That's not hyperbolic, I honestly can't stand it. It's kinda pointless to make another thread on it though, they already changed it once, it's not going to get changed back, sadly.
