The Story of the Sith Warrior

Think back to when you first watched Star Wars™: A New Hope™ — to the moment when Darth Vader enters the besieged Republic ship, surveying the carnage, single-mindedly hunting his target, Princess Leia. If you were like me, your eyes bulged and you thought, “I wanna be that guy.”

Now, maybe I was alone in that visceral response. Maybe it reveals something disturbing about me, I don’t know. On subsequent screenings, I seem to recall hearing a chorus of hisses and boos when Vader emerges. So maybe most of the Star Wars™ fan community are Luke lovers, or Solo sycophants . But something tells me there are more of me out there. And all these years, like me, you’ve been waiting for the opportunity to express your inner Vader.

Well, I’m here to tell you, our time has come.

Get ready, my friends, Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ is going to be our coming out party. It’s time to ignite your red lightsaber and grind the galaxy under your steel platform boot.

The Sith Warrior is about domination and control, as he seeks to utterly annihilate his enemies. He or she wields a lightsaber with more devastating effect as the warrior brings ferocity and rage to bear on every strike. The warrior is feared, is a melee master, and can choke you to death without even touching you.

You begin the Sith Warrior story as the apprentice of one of the most powerful Sith Lords in the Empire. Yes, you serve him, as Vader served the Emperor, but he knows that you are at your best and most powerful the more you can flex your muscles. As long as your master’s ultimate directives are met, you are encouraged to entertain your every impulse and do as you please.

Unbound and unleashed on the galaxy, you wage war against the Jedi, relentlessly hunting and neutralizing their most powerful and important players. You can leave an indelible darkness on every planet you visit or find less wanton routes to your goals, as you eliminate rivals, acquire your own minions and build your personal power base.

The enemies of the Sith quickly realize that you are the real threat that cannot be ignored. Other Sith you encounter and confront come to revere and revile you, as much as—if not more than—your master. And eventually, the Emperor himself may take notice of your exploits.

Where is this all leading? That’s up to you. You can serve dutifully and pound away by the letter of your master’s law, or you can risk plotting to someday destroy him and grab his power (as Vader reveals in his plea for Luke to join him). You can even have secret designs to redeem yourself, embrace the light and destabilize the Empire from within.

If this excites you, if you’re like me and already have Darth Vader’s theme music playing in the background of your mind 24-7, then crank up the volume to 11 and point those internal speakers out the window. Don’t get caught up in the debate over who shot first. Don’t be tied down by the Jedi Code. Embrace the darkness within you! Revel in your emotions, grab for glory and bend the galaxy to your will.

Let us bend this galaxy to our will my brothers and sisters...and remember...Your only hope for survival is complete and utter loyalty!

Sun, 03/07/2010 - 08:59

this is going to be the class i play when it finally comes out i can't wait :)

Sat, 03/06/2010 - 02:29

Who doesn't love awesome darth vader? (other than you ignorant jedi scum) He is just so awesome i wanna grow up to be just like him even though anakin is not in this time period yet

Fri, 03/05/2010 - 23:01

I am definitely going to play a Sith Warrior because they are the guys who will get in your face if they want to but if they feel like it they will just choke you to death, so you have the powerful melee attacks but also those force powers for extra encouragement or an extra way to get rid of an enemy without being seen

Fri, 03/05/2010 - 22:36

You are not alone, Neil I also have the Imperial March playing all day. And the Sith Warrior looks awesome. I wonder what the starting armour is?

Fri, 03/05/2010 - 19:16

The kind of sith i would be that they never really shown before is to embrace the passion of power so you could save the good kind of like what anakin tried to do but failed and became evil

Wed, 03/03/2010 - 23:02

hey seriously u warriors are unintellegent but strong if u betray ur masters let me be your master!

Tue, 03/02/2010 - 21:28

i would try to redeem myself and try to become a jedi or i would kill my master and take his power then overthrow the emperor but i wouldn't go full dark side

Tue, 03/02/2010 - 00:12

So...anyone know when swtor is coming out??!!

Sun, 02/28/2010 - 16:36

To all the foolJedi in the galaxy, know this. The Force is about ballance. All of you who suppress your emotions and passions are living a lie. Do you not wonder what happens to that passion that you fling blindly into that inner sea of calm? It comes out the other side to feed the flaming maelstrom that rages within me. For that reason alone, we will be locked for eternity in our struggle, because even if you manage to destroy our whole order, the nature of the split you place in the force between the light and dark will find more avatars to absorb what you discard and fling it right back into your face like a boiling acid. But please, don't mind me. Go ahead and cling to your narrow-minded beliefs and laughable institutions. Because the more you cling to those decietful teachings, the more you bring me strength. And the more you divide the force, the longer this war will rage. And that suits me just fine.

Sat, 03/06/2010 - 02:27

I am a Jedi, Jerrian, but that doesn't mean I suppress my emotions. I control them. As for passion, well, I have always believed in Luke's Jedi Code where love is not only allowed, but encouraged.

Tue, 03/02/2010 - 03:12

The force is about obtaining peace throughout the galaxy. Also, we simply disperse our emotions, not fling them into you 'sea'. Our life of a lie is simply the opposite, we admit our mistakes and admit them to our superiors. We take this moral and apply it to our life.

This is gonna look just insane! Been a huge StarWars fan forever having an MMO is gonna be the best way to enjoy it!!

Sun, 02/28/2010 - 16:18

hey if any of you sith warriors want to be my apprentice just gimme a holla

Sat, 10/24/2009 - 13:50

And I say to you all... "Let the hunt for Power & Annihilation begin!".

Feel no remorse!

The sith are the most bad-***** chars after my believes, so lets start the beating!

Sat, 10/24/2009 - 09:24

I sense great thing's from these magician's at their work.

The Sith will rule in skill and superiority, there will be many
more Jedi than we but for every one of us that fall, ten of them
fall for their lost cause.

Sun, 10/18/2009 - 13:29

Looks amazing I hope I get to be on the beta wink wink :)

Sun, 10/18/2009 - 12:33

Awesome game.

Wed, 10/21/2009 - 12:59

I agree, the sith have the awesome dungeons, and if you walk in to them you see some Idiot jedi getting tortured. ha! Foolish jedi

Sun, 10/18/2009 - 16:26

No, kanestorm, the sith have way cooler temples. like that huge pyramid! the jedi temples are to pompus, and dogmatic.

Fri, 10/16/2009 - 21:40

Cool I definitely will be playing this class first (or possibly the jedi, i just have to see what their gameplay and special powers are like first before i decide). I wonder what the power base it talked about will be like? will it be located on a planet or will u have a rather large space craft available? Either way it looks awesome.

I like the whole plotting to overthrow your master thing. I don't want to be a good guy i just am power hungry. but it depends on the master, but from all the sith masters I've seen they all treat their apprentices like crud.

Come to the dark side we have better health benefits and cookies!!!!

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 14:09

I beg to differ. First of all, from the moment that they anounced the storytelling mechanic BioWare said they will encourage taking compassionate actions as a sith and vice versa. Speculating as usual, but I think that it would be possible to give the player a chance to switch sides at say 2/3 or half way through to top level. A special quest(or series of such) that would enable to change your fate.

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 12:24

This game is gonna be so awesome.

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 09:00

This sounds so frickin' cool I might actually go Sith first instead of Jedi.

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 07:34

This is going to be awesome! I've been a Star Wars fan for years and I believe my inner Sith will be unleashed!

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 04:04

Cant wait!

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 01:50

Im tied between 2 classes.....straight up sith warrior or jedi betrayer.....haha

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 00:52

I look forward to matching blades with the sith, you may strike me down but I will become more powerful than you can ever imagine....

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 00:51

jedi jedi jedi ur a fool yes we know master yoda and all that but what happens after that the force trys to balance it self out remaber where the movies ends dosnt mean it remains that way

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 00:44

I can't wait to use cunning and power to destroy the Republic.

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 00:28

Hehe, ya wana knwo what I find funny-How most of the people here who will be fighting for the Sith Empire think they know how this is going to end (their version that is) we all know that the Republic will be victorious at one point and the Sith Empire destroyed...no ligit that is what happens lol.

Sat, 02/27/2010 - 18:36

Has anyone noticed how many comments are on this article compared to the Jedi Knight or consular article, My prediction is wen this game comes out, 90 Percent of the mmo's players will play as the sith...There will hardly be any jedi...Come-on I know nothing beats the DARK SIDE....But everyone come-on Try Something New...was gonna play as Sith...But theres no doubt the server will be overloaded....Jedi here i come...

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 00:11

But back on subject, this class should be pretty fun to play, I'm more of a ranged weapon type of person, but I might try it out just to see how it goes.

Sun, 10/04/2009 - 23:07

Bravo! That is exactly what I thought the first time I saw New Hope. I even read the Darth Bane books and enjoyed them. The thought of being able to unsheath my lightsaber and just dominate kills me. Training on Korriban will be nice as well. All in all, I cannot wait to choke out some Jedi.

Sun, 10/04/2009 - 22:05

Man I wish i wasnt deploying, I really want to play this game. Been a fan my whole life my dad showed me empire strikes back and i was hooked

Sun, 10/04/2009 - 21:10

ya thats cool sith are so beast

Sun, 10/04/2009 - 20:11

Man I'm gonna love playing sith / jedi, but I think my First Character is going to be Smuggler. the cover fire mechanic just looks too wicked to pass up..

Sun, 10/04/2009 - 20:05

This game is going to be my next Idol. This could be the game I get addicted to.

Sun, 10/04/2009 - 20:23

eemo tell me about it! this game is what a lot of star wars fan have been waiting for!! and Bioware have been doing a outstanding job on it!

Sun, 10/04/2009 - 19:10

Darkside ftw, absolutely cannot wait for this game.

Sun, 10/04/2009 - 18:54

I love Power of the Dark Side xD

Vanido
Sun, 10/04/2009 - 18:54

This game looks interesting and Im definetly going to play it but damn, this is the nerdiest, lamest, geekiest and most retarded community I ever seen.
People posting comments and talking like if they were real jedi or stuff like that. You guys should relax it's just a game dammit

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 02:06

I think ypu would be considered the nerdiest lamest, geekiest, and jerkiest person here. All griefers should go back to WoW, or whereever you came from. In case you didn't know, The "rp" im mmorpg stands for roleplaying. You are the kind of person that even the non-roleplayers dislike.

Sun, 10/04/2009 - 22:26

WHERE WERE THE SITH IN EPISODE 1 OR 2 OR3 THROUGH 6 WHERE WERE YOU HUH THERE WERE LIKE 4 IN THE WHOLE TRILOGY SO YOU SITH ARE GOING TO LOSE BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sun, 10/04/2009 - 17:42

i love the Spinal Tap reference. And you got me thinking about how awesome the dark side is....

Sun, 10/04/2009 - 19:35

You would probably play with lego nerd so you shut the F#@% up goof.

Sun, 10/04/2009 - 17:23

please with a little more class, Mr. Diplomat...personally its not a big problem..in my opinion the cone-ish light saber is more distracting to some sort of realism.

Sun, 10/04/2009 - 17:21

Yeah man people love the jedi and the sith for the sleek design of the lightsabers.
