The Cathar are among the many species you may come across in your travels through the galaxy. They are known for being strong, effective fighters, and are considered unique for their feline features and personality attributes.

I never noticed the detail they put in the Cathar faces here. Dayum. |
:D awesooome. i'm totally stoked for this gaame! |

This will get the Republican Troopers |
I don't think it's too far of a stretch to assume that the Cathar will be a playable race, if you think about it. If they were just showing us an NPC race it would make more sense for them to show a full body NPC with hair, clothing, and actually standing in a location; rather than an image of the "option" between male and female with default facial structures and appearances. Of course this is just speculation, but in my mind it's not unlikely. |

lol .the ultimate lolcats |

Cathar would be a very cool Jedi Knight or Sith Warrior race to play.Better both because oftenly Cathar Force Sensitivies became Jedi even though the Jedi way tended to be in opposition to their natural tendencies, but of course there were Sith ones too(take Juhani for example but she was turned by Revan).I guess they could be Jedi Consulars or Sith Inquisitors but their warrior inclined nature better suits Knights/Warriors |
wow that is way cool are these a playable race? and then what classes are they available to? does anyone know? |
Thundercat... THUNDERcats.... THUNDERCATS..... HO-OOOOOOOO! |
I want to play as a Cathar!!Can't wait!! |
whoa....i wanna be one of these cat humans.... |
Looks like the Cathar have done a lot of evoloving since Juhani^^ Even though Juhani was one of my favorite characters in Kotor1, she still looked so horrendously ulgy. If it is playable(And I hope to God it is), I'd make it my main. |
Juhani was only half Cathar, thats why her appearence looked more human than these |

i agree but i think they may be companions for mainly the smuggler |
It looks like the Thunder Cats. Stupid. |
Everyone here is jumping to the conclusion that they will be playable. They did not say in the description that they are playable, they said we MIGHT run in to them. Sounds like an NPC race, to me; don't get your hopes up. |
did you just mention that star wars made something stupid? or were you calling somewun stupid? if then lol. but if yuu sed star wars made a dumb move your gonna have to stop reading this and go.. oh wait a star wars qoute..lol.. "you want to go home and rethink your life" hahaha i love obi. |
I hope they can have long hair and tattoos and that they can be troopers |
Cathar are ok from what I have read about them they are like the Mandolorians only the have morals and a code not just a code. (ie warrior mentality) |
I honestly don't see the Cathar as being a race I would want to play. They just don't seem to be as cool as some of the others and remind me too much of the Khajitt from Bethesda's Elder Scrolls series. I'm not complaining either it's just that they don't appeal to me. Neither did Juhani in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. I think the Cathar have a ways to go before they become a truly great race, but honestly the way BioWare has begun to flesh them out they seem like they would be alright. I am really liking the facial models and what they have done to make it seem like there is fur on their faces. Keep up the good work BioWare. |
These look more like a subspecies of Cathar and not the mainline Cathar... I was looking forward to being big, cat-like, and furry. Oh well. |
Thunder Cats ouo |
these people better have hair on top of there heads, becaus if they do i might play as them if i can |
Awesome. If they are a playable race, I'm seriosly considering playing as them. That or Twi'lek. My only real disappointment is that they both seem to be closer to the Myrh Rho/Juhani subspecies than to the baseline Cathar, with manes and beards and fur and whatnot. I guess we just have to wait for hairstyles. |
"I see you..." But honestly, this is going to be my consular if the bothan doesn't pan out. And I really don't mind the Na'vi resemblence, they are awsome too! (Just don't make the cathar ten feet tall, if you don't mind) ;p. May the Force be with us all. |
They are Thunder cats LOL, THUNDER THUNDER THUNDER CATS WHOOOOAAA! They have too many people working there based on goofey names like william wallace, and not based on there skill level or creative thinking, You know, out of the box, instead of taking things that are already made up, and adding to them. so unoriginal.. |
lol sith wookies.. and I'm still hoping for sith jawa's. |
They look like a cross btw Avatar/Navi and Thundercats. |
The Cathar don`t look like avatars, it`s just the opposite!!! |
To everyone saying they look like avatar. It would be avatars that would like them. Cathars have been created before, and its more than likely that cameron looked into star wars before making his movie. He already ripped off his story from pochaontas, I don't see why he wouldn't go get a species from star wars univers that nobody exept star wars deep fans knows about. |
avatar was actually planned out years ago but they didn't have the tech to make it |
Good point these have been around for years in the books and Avatar is still only over a year old movie wise *release not production* but it is the newest so that is what people will stick with :) |
Besides Juhani I really never saw many cathars in my Star Wars adventures if you could call them that, at least I don't remember to many. We are the Republic Sovereignty, we stick together, we make the most out of the experience, we need you. If you are a trooper or Jedi loyal to the Republic, check out www.republicsovereignty.com or pm MasterDesala. We are here to have an experience, not just gain experience. |
they do look like avatar people... just not so blue and dont glow |
I hate to say it, but they look slightly like the people from Avatar. The nose does especially, haha. |
Ha you're right! Now all we need is create a glitch that makes them turn blue. |
yes but it is now 300 years later so maby the Cathar are with many now because they have alot of childeren:) |
It will be kinda lame to see many Cathar appearing cause most of the race was wiped out by Mandalorians in the mandalorian wars.It won't make sense unless |
The article never mentioned them being a playable race. Plus, the only "many," or any of its various synonyms, are linked to just the appearances of species the game will be holding across its universe. What's to complain about, really now? |
thats what i was thinkin too!:P |
Ithorians are pretty damn cool too |
I would like to see the Trandoshan as a playable race they are my favorite species because remind me of my own people |
in the Comicon panel this week they did say that certain races are tied to specific classes, which is a good update, but god on high I wish they would just spill the beans already. It's mostly flavor, but playable species is very important to me. |
id really like to see it playable.... but still elcor FTW!!! im such a mass effect fanboy |
Sorry had to get this information as it was kinda bugging me saying they are in the KoToR series of books "The planet of Cathar was devastated by the Mandalorians during the Battle of Cathar, leading to the enslavement and near-extinction of the Cathar species. Over 90 percent of the species were killed by the Mandalorians in the battle.[3] The few survivors were forced to flee offworld to survive. After the end of the Mandalorian Wars Cathar began to resettle their world and by the time of the Galactic Civil War, it had fully recovered from the damage the Mandalorians had done." |
