why would you want the same old robe that is in every other movie and game....intricate and flashy for once would be a nice change

It is a little flashy but I think I'd be disappointed to dress exclusively in the plain Jedi robes as seen in all the movies for a few dozen levels.

This robe is styled to be for the more adorned Jedi Knights within the Order.
