  • Create a SWTOR account if you have not created one
  • Fill out your contact information
  • Set up minimum 3 - maximum 5 security questions to protect your SWTOR account
  • Redeem an official Game Product Registration Code (This is different from your Pre-Order Code. Your Product Registration Code is the code tied to the official Game.)

Everyone who pre-ordered and is in the Early Game Access program has forty-eight (48) hours from launch in which to enter their official Game Product Registration Code, which will be found inside the physical Standard and Collector's Editions of the game; for digital editions of the game from Origin.com, the Product Registration Code will have been emailed to you. After December 22nd 12:01AM EST, you will be required to have a valid payment method and a Product Registration Code redeemed at your account to continue to play. We strongly recommend that you redeem your Product Registration Code as soon as you are able to do so (rather than waiting until the last minute) to ensure a seamless entry into the Game, a smooth experience on the account website and to collect any special gifts and items you may be entitled to based on the version of the Game you purchased.

Once Early Game Access begins, the first character you create on the assigned server will be automatically invited to join your guild. You can choose to accept or decline the invite. To help verify your account, a SWTOR Customer Service representative may ask for the serial number of your security key. This is to help them verify that you are the owner of the account.

If you lose your security key, please contact SWTOR Customer Service.

Once you generate a security key, you have 30 seconds to type the security key passcode into the “Security Key” section of your launcher when you log in.

The security key passcode is the eight digit number displayed on the security key. Each number is unique and only valid for 30 seconds.

For the Physical Security Key, press the button next to the code screen. The passcode will be displayed on-screen.

For the Mobile Security Key, you must first log in with your account details. Once you do this, you can tap the “Key” icon to generate a security key passcode.

For the Physical Security Key, the serial number is visible on the back of the security key.

For the Mobile Security Key, the serial number is assigned to you when you set up your mobile security key. To view it, launch the app, click the “Information” icon, click “Security Key Information” and the number will be listed under “Serial number”.

Go to your “My Account” page on swtor.com and click “Security Key” from the right-hand menu. This will take you to a page that will ask you to enter both your Security Key serial number and the code that your Security Key is showing.

The Star Wars: The Old Republic Physical Security Key will retail for $6.50/£8.99/€12.99 from Origin.com. Physical Security Keys are available now in North America, and will be available as soon as possible in other launch territories.

The Star Wars: The Old Republic Mobile Security Key can be downloaded for free from Apple’s iTunes Store (except in France; please see below), and coming soon from the Android Marketplace and BlackBerry Market.

Currently, the Mobile Security Key is only available in English and German language versions. We are working to provide a French language version as soon as possible.

The physical security key is a device that fits easily onto a key ring, and generates authentication passcodes. Each passcode is a one-time use code that will have to be entered along with your account password every time you log into your account (via the game client or website), provided that you have the physical security key registered to your account.

The mobile security key is a free downloadable app for iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) and will soon be available for both Android and BlackBerry devices. This app will generate a one-time use code that will have to be entered along with your account password every time you log into your account (via the game client or website), provided that you have the mobile security key registered to your account.

To learn more, visit our Security Key page.

The Star Wars: The Old Republic Security Key can refer to one of two things:

  • The Star Wars: The Old Republic Physical Security Key
  • The Star Wars: The Old Republic Mobile Security Key

You are only required to answer three security questions. However, to increase your security we suggest that you answer all five questions. We highly recommend that you make a note of your security question answers. If you forget your answers, you may become unable to access your account, and will be required to call Customer Service to reset your questions and answers.

You can set your security questions and their answers at any time by logging into your account, clicking the “My Account” button and then selecting the “Security Questions” option from the right-hand sidebar.

Security questions are specific questions that are asked when you wish to reset your password, or are logging into your account from a different computer. These questions pertain to facts about yourself, and are meant to allow for different answers from one user to the next.

There are a number of different ways we try to protect your account from unverified access. While you have your password, we also ask that you answer between three and five security questions. You also have the option of using a security key, which will generate a temporary passcode that you can enter when you first open your game launcher.

If you cannot play your Game due to not being able to meet the hardware requirements, we ask that you contact the retail store where you made your purchase.
