If you are having lag rising lag to red x disconnects out of the blue, it's worth clearing your cache (open the game folder, then swtor, then delete the DiskCacheArena folder). Also, there is a hefty set of of troubleshooting tips here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showt...php?t=498597#5

It also helps a lot to describe the nature of the lag/dcs. For example, is chat slow, are mailboxes sluggish or unresponsive, is there excessive rubberbanding, does the lag come suddenly or gradually rise and fall, does it happen only at certain times of day, and so on. Including your location and server also helps.

Thanks.
Why do you keep posting the same over and over again instead of accepting that you have server issues?

Because, if you knew anything about how the internet works, you'd know that the issue is not always the server.

In ONE person's case in this thread (someone who followed direction and gave the necessary information) -- the issue is most definitely the CDN that EA/BW is using. Note: CDN is NOT the server, is not owned by BW/EA, and isn't run by BW/EA.

In another thread, someone just posted up the info and he is experiencing massive packet loss long before he gets anywhere near BW/EAs servers (Literally hop 2-3-4, 100% packet loss). That is 100% a problem with his ISP, and not with BW/EA, or a CDN.

LOL its just a simple way of saying the issue is on EA side. LOL

Wonder if you know what irony means.....

The point here is EA accepting the bad service hes providing and NOT BLAMING the stupid client.

LOL you know absolutely nothing, don't you.

CDN = a company that BW/EA is paying to handle server traffic for them. Believe it or not, things don't work 100% of the time. Very possible they're having a hiccup due to routing issues with another client.

The person in another thread -- issue is most definitely his internet provider. Not "technically" on his side, as his personal setup isn't the issue, just his ISP.

Packets = Data.
Data flows like this:

You --> your ISPs network --> Backbone network --> CDN network --> Server owned by company

As basic as I can make it. And an issue can literally be in or between any of those steps. Immediately blaming EAs servers is ignorant.

LOL.

I'm sorry that someone more intelligent than yourself is attempting to help people. I don't need to be paid by EA to explain to you how something as basic as the internet works. No need to be such a child about it.

IF you bothered to do what was asked of you -- post the information by following the detailed guide -- the proof is in the information. As I said, at least one person in this thread did so, and it shows that the problem is directly related to the CDN being used by BW/EA. Sorry if these words are too big for you, but that means it is a problem BW/EA needs to address by contacting the CDN (content delivery network).

Don't expect problems to be fixed if you cannot take a mature approach and work with others to solve it.

TcMcqueen,

can you run a pathping - n instead of tracert, indication at this stage is hop 1 or 10, but hop 1 can cause what appears at hop 10, why the pathping is required as well.

Kilora is absolutely right. I worked for an ISP for 4 years in a very technical role and he is pretty much bang on. And no, I do not work for BioWare. I'm just pointing out that he is right and you are ignorant. You should go back to your Nintendo Wii.
