Cross faction mailed items

I have 6 toons half of them around 30ish, I have a armormech that I can churn out some nice purple items - made a chest piece 4 stat with aug slot open on Emp Armormech, sweet I'm thinking this will be awesome on my new 'mando - mailed it -logged in on Pub 'mando and to my horror the armor had changed appearance to some nasty looking cr@p and to rub salt into the wound it was now 2 stat with aug, ffs why bother armormeching?
I mean can't sell anything because some dude on pot 5 likes selling purp chest pieces with aug for like 10k, he must have some mats saved up coz it costs me more than that to find the blasted recources with crew missions.
So can't sell anything and cant cross faction trade without it screwing the item - what use is armormech?
Someone in general chat was kind enough to explain that this is standard with cross faction trades - ok - cant we have some warning text stating - the armor may change to some random gastly appearence and you may lose stats - DO YOU WANT TO PROCEED, that type of thing.
I had been enjoying crafting until this point but this sorta *****ed it for me.

if you have the mats and companions, you can get armormech 400 in about 2 hours. so just make an armormech for your republic toons.

gear looks different cross faction. just get on the gtn and look through all the gear and see what you like...then log back to imperial and craft it...then mail it back. then you'll get what you want.

but with tons of adaptive level 1 cartel armor on the market for cheap...why craft armor?

make a cybertech/artifice and just do the mods.
Not all Bounty Hunters die screaming like a 4 yr old girl.

Is there any way to change armor colour? Like dye kits or somthing? Or is this not possible at this point in the game?
Why craft armor when you can buy cartel stuff cheap ?- well some toons I have cartel armour - but on my BH's being an old SWG player I like to make my own if possible or atleast tweak it. Oh and I have artifice on one toon - they are the two crew skills I'm most advanced in Armormech and Artifice both around the 250 mark atm.
Oh so the best idea is to have a Armormech on both sides np just as well I just rolled that 'mando.

The only thing you can do now is "unify colors" to your chest piece. In the character sheet there is a small armor icon on the right side about 1/3 the way up the window, click it and you will get several options (note: these options are only available for subscribing players or F2P who pay to unlock them). There is a head head slot radio button and a unify colors radio button. Unify colors changes the colors of all visible items to the color palette of your chest piece.

Not to mention that unify color to cheat is currently broken and not workin on pc's or companions in the character sheet. We NEED some bug fixes !!!! They took a dam month off for christmas it seems and nothing is happening!
Bring it on Sith, the Jedi shall prevail!

Sound advice, after a bit of crafting mailing back and forth I found a suit that I like - thanks

Shame about no dye kits for crafted suits, I was hoping for some sort of kit I could change the chest plate color pallets for stuff I craft(and then with unify colours make the other pieces match) much like the ones you could buy in SWG - heres hoping the get around to putting it in SWTOR at some stage even though its a different game, thanks - atleast I'm not wasting time searching for somthing thats not in game.
